LD38 — A Small World

Petty Puny Planet 38 by JorgeGameDev 2017-05-19T18:54:27Z

Best polish of any of the games I tried for LD38. Lots to explore by making different choices. I loved the cute graphics for the planets and their accessories. The whole thing is really well put together and fun. Congrats!

Space Turtle by Sebastian Lague 2017-05-01T21:26:24Z

Very smooth and relaxing. The simple leaderboard is an awesome idea that encourages repeat play. Nice work Sebastian!

Mediator by randomhuman 2017-05-01T22:55:37Z

Seemed like there was going to be a good story, but left me wanting more. Simple controls, Good atmosphere, cute graphics, just needs more time! WebGL version was a bit sticky with the controls, which I noticed on my game when using Win 10 Edge.

Unlucky Planet by Siridakis 2017-05-19T21:36:09Z

Unlucky Planet is fun and engaging. The shop really gives some depth to the game, but with more work, it could be even deeper. Great job getting the concept done and playing really well. I am impressed you got this all together so fast!

Hibernaculum by redpanda 2017-05-01T23:48:52Z

Interesting snow globe world. It was fun trying to get to places I probably wasn't supposed to go. Fun idea! I would love to be able to move around more freely though.

Gravity Wars by highlyinteractive 2017-05-19T19:18:35Z

I really love the mesh bending and other effects used in this game. It looks really great. I was not a big fan of the music, and the other audio effects could be spiced up a bit for more excitement. When I blew up at the end, I couldn't do anything, had to close the game and restart it to play again.

A small World à la No Man's sky by lavwa 2017-05-02T00:01:15Z

Pretty big project idea to take up in such a short amount of time. Amazing what you were able to accomplish with the short timeframe. I would have loved to explore even more.

Smalltrek by impbox 2017-05-02T06:04:59Z

Lots of puzzles and really solid play throughout. Top notch!

RoboLand by slovakyan 2017-05-19T22:09:15Z

Clean and cool entry! I just LOVE the low poly water mesh you have as the background. Great job on the graphics, effects and gameplay. Glad to hear you are moving forward with it!

Dung Beetle by Louspirit 2017-05-19T18:33:30Z

Great idea for the Small World theme! What a tough life that must be. I think the weakest part was the traps -- they looked kind of cheesy and a better solution would be some kind of mesh deformation or maybe just a shader or particle effect, I am not sure. The camera animation to show the path at the start of the level is well done.

Backyard Warriors by UrsiGames 2017-05-02T00:13:58Z

I laughed while playing this one. Poking with sticks! Well done with the short amount of time and excellent write up. It seemed like I could only attack to my right, but I swear I saw some of the other characters switching.

Colonized Panda by Pashok 2017-05-01T23:30:29Z

One of the best I have played in terms of ambiance. The graphics and UI were well done and I'm not taking any points off for typos because I'm impressed you got so much story typed in as it is. Only wish there was more to do than just the decisions.

Goblin Assault by Syndelis 2017-05-19T19:06:17Z

Tough game! Just getting past the first wave is difficult. The graphics were not my favorite and pressing a number while right clicking was strange at first -- not sure how I like it. Anyway, good job on getting a tower defense/resource gathering game together so quickly!

The Dance We Do by PapyPilgrim 2017-05-19T21:27:07Z

Really relaxing and beautiful in its own way. I loved the different pictures that are generated as you play. The simple, yet increasingly complicated puzzles are fun and the way is is presented is very well done. I am not 100% sure why sometimes the next level takes a while to start, but not a huge deal. Great job!

Beyond the Deep by yojammerjammer 2017-05-19T22:27:27Z

Wow there is a ton of dialogue in this game. I am impressed that so much content was packed in given the short time! The maze part was a bit frustrating because of the constant interruptions, but it was neat to have the maze in the first place, since I thought it would be all text and button clicking. Great effort!

Glop Plots by Carsen D. 2017-05-01T21:59:18Z

Very bare bones, as you point out. The concept seems to work. I am not sure why you went with WASD instead of mouse for something like this. Great job getting it together and working for the jam!

Flight of Claude by Lyxil 2017-05-19T18:20:32Z

It was a fun experience being a little bird and the story reflecting real life and human life is an emotional one. Nice!

Leafcutters by gimbalock 2017-05-19T19:37:00Z

I played your updated build and it worked really well. I have played a few of these clicker games over the years, but I don't usually hang onto them for long -- it's not my favorite genre. I liked the concept of using it to build an ant colony though and it worked well for this type of game. The UI was pretty intuitive -- easy to figure out which buttons to press and the instructions on the screen were helpful in figuring everything out.

Great job on completing it and going the extra step to make sure the players know what to do!

My Very Own World by SpaceSparkle 2017-05-19T21:11:12Z

This brought me back to when I played the original Civilization games. The graphics and UI just had that turn-based strategy feel to them that works really well. Congratulations on getting so much of this working in the short time we had. I had trouble with not having enough resources and my units wouldn't move when that happened for some reason. Other than that bit of trouble, it was all pretty easy to figure out. [Please check out our game](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/microchip) when you get a chance and give it a rate!

Battle for the Last (small) World! by Sniperninja564 2017-05-19T21:44:23Z

Used keyboard and mouse and it is really challenging! The controls and jumping work well and the enemies are very good at their jobs haha. Nice work!

Space Raiders by Smeax 2017-05-19T17:52:07Z

Really great atmosphere - the visual effects were well done and the audio seemed to match the atmosphere. It was really difficult (I played the jam build, not 1.1 - will try those next). Great!

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2017-05-01T21:43:12Z

Very nice! I am amazed that you were able to put together so many thoughtful gravity puzzles in such a short time. One thing that could use improvement is the scroll time back to the start when restarting. It seems to be too slow most of the time, but it seems to change speed? Anyway, I had fun with this one. Very nice!

Den by La mecanique du plastique 2017-05-01T22:09:38Z

Unusual and fun! The parallax movement and all the artwork were well-executed. I wasn't sure what to do at the last room other than just keep knocking the guys off the catwalk.

The Evolution Game by EvoGenGames 2017-05-19T22:33:43Z

Neat idea -- reminds me of the .net Terrarium game that I played years ago when learning C#. Definitely needs something for the player to do though because I did not have a beer handy and I lost interest after a while. Congratulations on getting the simulator up and running and done in time!

Escape From The bygone by foxtrotluna 2017-05-19T22:00:42Z

It's unfortunate you weren't able to get this completed, because it has a nice vibe, judging from the graphics and audio. I ran around a bit and looked at things and was interested, but just not able to figure out what I was supposed to do. Then I fell into a pit that I couldn't get out of. Keep trying!
