I played this on my livestream here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srBde18ASdY
There is so much going on here, I was impressed by the sheer scope of the game for a Jam. The Gravity system is a little wonky... I got caught a lot in spinning cartwheels of uncontrollably. Really cool entry though!
Still less buggy than the original No Mans Sky.
Have you changed the link? I can't seem to get to the game.

The link should be fix by now. Please let me know if there is any issue. Also :
When you are on stuck on a planet, you can press SHIFT + W to give you extra boost, but it cost fuel.
If your ship spin out of control, use SPACE to stop the rotation.
Your fuel (gas and oxygen) is ticking even if you are landed, so don't take too much time to admire the planets and hurry to find yours !
Cool game, if you want the game to download automatically when people click on the link use:

Very cool game! Are the planets procedurally generated? If so, so much props for that!
This was cool. What I liked about the game -2d+3d gameplay with different mechanics -Nice mood with the combination of graphics and audio. -Solid First person movement.
What I would like the game the game to have -Enemies on the planets (with really simple AI just to make it more intense when you are on the planet) -A bit more clarity about the shield mechanic (I wasn't sure what was the exact use of it) -Transparent particles when the rocket exploded(sometimes the particles would hide my ship for a long time when I was touching the planet and I couldn't find the right rotation to leave the planet).
Overall it was fun to play with and different from the other games I played so far specially due to the 2d/3d gameplay you added, I am sure with a bit more time, this could be polished to be even better. Good job

Hi ! Thank you very much for the feedback ! My initial goal was to add small AI on the planet's surface and in the space view but hehe lack of time, I couldn't add that.
The planets are indeed procedurally generated, I created about 100+ planets textures, all monochrome, then use a material to add color. The minerals are also selected randomly and the particles systems are blinking with the corresponding mineral color (iron = red, gold = yellow, ...)
And for the shield, I forgot to explain it ;) Basically, the when you hit a missile or hit the surface of the planet too fast, you will lose % of your shield. If the shield is down, then it's your fuel that you are losing, and at fuel==0, you lose the game ;)

A good game, fine story, good graphics, enjoyed
Pretty big project idea to take up in such a short amount of time. Amazing what you were able to accomplish with the short timeframe. I would have loved to explore even more.

Alright so; was surprised ad the audacious nature of this one; and the mix of 2d and 3d gameplay was neat. All in all though kinda like the original no mans sky; gathering resources wasn't that interesting for me and there wasn't anything to do on the planets really. In addition, the controls in space felt awkward, I got stuck to planets on multiple occasions and eventually my controls seemed to stop responding entirely and I got launched out into empty space.
I hate to be down on it (feel like I am way too critical tonight >.<) it was a bold entry and you got a lot done. If you continued with it, put in some more interesting mechanics in both space and on planets and cleaned up space movement it could be a real winner, just not something you can do in 72 hours.
Thanks for the game <3
Good job making the planet

This is a very good concept, and very ambitious, and I love that unlike most "fly-around-space" games this one does actually let you land on the planets. At the end of the day there isn't that much to do or see to keep a player around, but it's definitely a good base to build on. Good work!

It's almost like the real thing!
Judging by the comments, I'm not the only one who got stuck on a planet because I couldn't fix my rotation, and couldn't see my ship when the rockets hit me (and when you're stuck in place because you can't see you're probably going to be hit by rockets). It's a fantastic idea with some impressive coding, but it's still utterly infuriating to play. You're lucky it isn't a $60 price tag or there would be hell to pay. ;)

I enjoyed my time with this game. The ships controls were definitely a bit slippery and often times after exiting a planet I just didn't fly right any more. But I'm glad you added in the abilities to counteract these things, especially a way to stop being stuck to the planet.
Why do all these planets hate me so much though, they are fine when I exploit all of there resources but if I dare stand a reasonable distance away they want me dead.
Would love to see where you go with this game afterwards! Good luck!

Thank you very much for the comments :)
It's really appreciated, it's our prize after all. I would like to change the gravity of the planets so it will be easier to lift up. I will upload a fix this weekend, as soon as I can :) This and/or maybe add a small bouncy effect on the planet, so it will push you away when you try to leave. I will have to test it out ;)
@kantieno : I wanted to add a "pacifier" weapon you could throw on planets before landing, but I lacked time.
Here is the sprite :

I love the ambitious idea behind this. Small issues not withstanding (for example, I got stuck in the menu during the game and had to restart), this was really fun. I liked the true Newtonian ship controls, and the overall atmosphere was very enjoyable, too. Not sure if the music is yours, but if it is: good job as well! You might want to consider doing a more complete post-Jam version. Also: OS X and Linux executables would be great.
One of my favorite games I've played this Ludum Dare. The concept and scale of the game is very ambitious and well done. The soundtrack suited the game very nicely and the graphics (both 3d and 2d) were great. I could see this game having commercial success outside of LD if finished up.
This looks like a promising start for a good space RPG. Making space navigation 2D was a great call since 3rd dimension does not actually add much to the exploration aspect of the game and it may make space controls overly complicated. I still think that the number of buttons needed to navigate can be decreased though. I really enjoyed playing it. Thank you for making this game!
Very nice! Alot of smart small choices make a full game :) Would rather fund this in early access than no man's sky.
Its an interesting game, and definitely ambitious for a jam game. It was fun to play but I had a lot of issues with the controls. It seemed like the zoom would go too far out, so I couldn't tell which direction my ship was pointing in, but this was necessary to navigate the planets. Also the ship seemed to turn on its own to face the direction of its velocity. This made the rockets very frustrating to avoid. In the end my ship got stuck against the surface of a planet and I wasn't able to escape.
Once the control issues are fixed I think this game could be a cool little gem.

Nice Jam :) But there are a few issues I had with this game for example the mentioned sprites for the explosion. Often I was stuck between two planets with missles shooting at me and I had no chance to navigate or to escape. If the spacing of the planets would be a bit more apart espacially in the beginning to give the player some time to adapt to the controlls the start would be easier and more fun maybe if you could trade all your resources but each planet values them different the gameplay would feel a bit more relaxing. I found it a bit frustrating because I enjoyed the trading with other planets for fuel. Landing on the planets however I found to be overkill in my opinion the game would do better without it. In the end the I liked the idear and the comlexity. great start all it needs is a bit more polishing and you got yourself a fine Game.
The controls were a little confusing at first, and I couldn't trade my minerals for fuel. However, it's a very big game for only 72 hours, so good job!

This is the kind of game I wish I could make. Like said above, I like the thing you can fly your ship and actually land on the planets. Awesome job!
I just have a few comments about some improvement room:
- The fuel mechanic would be more fun if based on usage instead of time. This way, instead of rushing planets to collect resources like "OMG fly fly fly need pellets OMG I'm gonna lose", it would be more about planning the trip, like "Maybe if I can make it to that planet, I can collect some rad resources. But I have fuel to make the trip? Can I reach a planet that trades it before I get stranded in space?" - Sometimes the missle hits our ship and the explosion sprite doesn't let me see the ship anymore ><
Overall, great job! I wish someday I can reach your skill level.
I was not able to find my home planet :disappointed_relieved: I tried a couple of times but always run out of fuel. The game itself is really great and challenging. There are so many different resources! The controls could be improved as they feel a bit sluggish sometimes, but for only 72h they turned out pretty good. Furthermore, I found it very troublesome that the fuel lowered even when I was on a planet's surface or not moving.
Altogether very well done and I like it far better than No man's sky!
How is it possible people can make this in such a short time. Really, really good job!

Excellent job. I wish I heard a sound when I picked up resources, I wasn't sure if I did and had to look. Great execution
Basically that's 2 games in one! And with seamless integration! I really liked the concept that you fly to a planet and then you walk on it in first person, it made it really interesting! It was a pretty fun game overall, and really rewarding if you consider that even after "I lost" because I ran out of fuel, I could still play and visit planets :P Other than that, it's a really great entry, well done! :D
