I enjoyed it! I spent some time figuring out the password. Good atmosphere and graphic style!

ssiannas 2025-04-08 07:54

Nice game. I had a thought of doing something with depth of field for the jam but couldn't quite wrap my head around it. Glad to see someone did it!

Nice atmosphere and a fair puzzle to keep you engaged. Idk if it's the font size but some "C"s looke dlike "O"s and it made me think there were typos.

baldurs 2025-04-08 07:54

I dunno what the intended solution to unlock the padlock is, I just guessed and checked using the two numbers I had, dunno if this is intended.

dadidou 2025-04-08 07:56

I struggle a little bit when I move but it was really great ! I love this oppressive atmosphere and the concept is original

poboy 2025-04-08 08:01

Great atmosphere here :)

Finally got it after a lot of staring. I screenshotted the bloody tile and started manipulating it in Photoshop to try to find something steganographic before realizing it is way more straightforward. D'oh

xwilq 2025-04-08 08:42

A really nice take on the theme, and I really like the mood of the game, perfectly creepy! Did struggle a little with the movement (camera & walking), not sure if it's ment to be that choppy or just my computer / browser. But all in all great job! Could see it beign a longer game, with more puzzles!

randomhuman 2025-04-08 16:02

Nice little escape room, great creepy vibes.

halfdanthevillain 2025-04-09 14:14

@baldurs there are three numbers hidden in the scene, which two was it you got?

halfdanthevillain 2025-04-09 14:18

@xwilq and @dadidou Will look in to the movement! Didn’t have a problem when we tested it out, but gonna give it some runs on different machines! And thanks, thinking about making some more to it so it’s a whole escape house instead of just a room

baldurs 2025-04-09 15:30

@halfdanthevillain it was the obvious one on the wall and the 3 in a chain

hit3c 2025-04-11 01:09

Took me a minute to get the first number, but once I did, it the rest was easy. I liked the premise. the depth perception made it a bit challenging. I will say, the audio had me wondering what was going on. It started annoying me a bit. Overall, so far i spent the most time on this game.

ljol3 2025-04-12 03:54

great atmosphere, but Iam completely gave up on trying to find the third number. I tried forcing it with the two obvious numbers, but I still couldn't get anywhere.

If there was a hint on the tile, it completely flew over my head. I guess I'm the dumb one since other people seemed to find it with less hassle.

using depth perception was a great use of the otherwise underwhelming theme of "depth" but I could not see what role it played in any of the puzzles beyond limiting the player's vison

aaronjnc 2025-04-12 04:13

It was quite difficult to figure out the code on the padlock, I ended up finding the two numbers then randomly forcing a 3rd number until I got it. Once up it seems like there should be more of a puzzle but I was able to just grab the key and head out. I definitely do like the depth mechanic used but think it can be expanded upon. Also a strat is if you spam the 'Q' button you can see both close and far due to it being stuck in transition.

halfdanthevillain 2025-04-12 10:33

@hit3c Glad you enjoyed it. We made the audio to try and give the vibe of the murder being in a room close to you chopping up another person.

@ljol3 and @aaronjnc thanks for playing! We would have liked to have some more items that were interactable but do to the time of the jam we didn’t make it. And good point with the spamming of Q. We could definitely work some more on the blur effect. And maybe give a stronger hint for the paper and not just the text popping up when picked up.

scoobysnacks 2025-04-13 08:36

I like the premise and the sounds really made nervous, but the lock combination puzzle was too long for me to figure out.

2025-04-14 08:17

Took some time to figure out the lock pad combination. I saw the 6 on the wall, the 3 chain on the floor and assumed the two X's were 2, but couldn't find the right order (or if I was putting them on the wrong row) and the number 1 seemed highlighted so I came to the comments to see if there was a solution to this puzzle. When I clicked back into the game the 1 moved up to 2 and I happened to have the numbers in the right combination so the lock pad opened up. After that I wanted to put the bloody tile or paper in the bathtub to clean and see writing, but found a key and escaped through the door instead.

kuboi 2025-04-14 16:56

Very cool concept! I like the focus mechanic, I could imagine a whole game being built on this, nice!

turbolaser 2025-04-14 19:24

I really love the unique take on depths theme. But odd difficulty curve - hardest task first, then easy ones. More puzzles with progressive difficulty would be perfect. The game's technical side is undeniably good.

rubixnoob13 2025-04-14 21:47

So, I figured out the code much sooner than I thought. But, in my picture below, I was trying to line up the numbers where the 999 is in my picture, thinking that was supposed to be the "front" of the lock based on the angle you're looking at it, when apparently you have to line up where the 000 is instead. Maybe just a small arrow on the lock or something to indicate where the numbers should line up would be super helpful. - Side note: I like when you're interacting with the lock it's completely off the wrist shackle, but you're still stuck in the chair  made me giggle.

I LOVE your interpretation of the theme, it's one of the most creative ones I've seen yet. The audio was good, but like a few others have said, I was trying to figure out what the heck was going on making all that racket. Once you escape from the lock, the controls seemed very slow, almost like trying to walk under water, while playing in the browser. Like instead of turning quickly, it's like the game was trying to smoothly change my look vector from where I was looking to where the mouse had moved. Maybe this was intended, but it just felt slow/sluggish to me. (Maybe to go along with your head hurting when you first woke up and to simulate being groggy?)

Overall, fun little entry and I'm mad it took me as long as it did to figure out where on the lock I was supposed to put the numbers once I figured them all out. Great entry!

Really creative idea of depths! When i started moving i got really nauseated and had to stop.

guitarbro 2025-04-17 00:26

Really dig the vibe here. Using depth of field was an interesting mechanic, but apparently it's not scaled with the viewport size so it was way easier to see the numbers in fullscreen (and harder to see in the LD web player). The ambient audio was really nice and tense, I just wish there was some build up as you get closer to "game over" so you know there's actually time pressure here. Regardless, this was definitely one of the more unique interpretations of the theme I've seen so far. Not a bad entry overall.

poppy-entertainment 2025-04-19 13:39

i feel so stupid that i didn't get the paper towel hint. but i manage to get out anyway. The core mechanic is super interesting and with a bit of refining is absolutely worth to try and expand it into a full game. Atmosphere was great, is almost a shame that this game is "jam sized" i would have loved to play a little more of it

texugo 2025-04-25 19:06

I got out after having a little bit of a hard time trying to figure out how to see the hint in the paper. The movement and depth change made me really nauseous and dizzy! Still, really interesting twist on the theme it was a fun experience.
