LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Last Chance To Green by Four Quarters 2016-01-04T03:52:00

I'm really impressed by your game! It's simple, yet includes a fair amount of tough decision-making. It's straightforward and really does make good use of both themes. The music and art look and sound fantastic, and lend to the overall mood quite nicely. I really love what you've done with the game-- congratulations on a successful Ludum Dare!

Morse GRO by GAFBlizzard 2016-01-04T01:27:00

I found your game to be a quick yet involved challenge. It required me to focus on multiple issues all at once, such as typing in morse code to order water for my insatiable plants. Overall, I really enjoyed the direction you took the theme in! It was a clever, challenging game, and I think the art matched well with the game itself (after all, you're using an old fashioned morse-based machine). Nice job!

Growing Up by blurryroots 2015-12-15T03:19:00

I'm sorry, but I didn't find a .exe or any sort of application inside of the .zip folder, and wasn't able to play your game. You might want to check on that.

Gardening Rabbit by lurils 2015-12-15T04:27:00

This game has the perfect amount of retro-feel to it. It's simplistic, easy to pick up and grasp, and absolutely wonderful. My only complaint is that occasionally I would move into a spot where an object had just disappeared and still lose a life, which felt a little bit frustrating at times. Nice game!

Magical Girl Cannon by dark_hunter 2015-12-15T03:51:00

I'm very impressed by the amount of work you were able to get done over the weekend. I had fun testing your game, and it ran and played very smoothly. However, a couple things about it kept bugging me. First of all, it was really hard to dodge bullets. This is mostly because the player's hitbox is too long, resulting in some really awkward movement when trying to avoid bullets. I also didn't pay much attention to the Mana stat, and mostly felt like it got in the way of the game.
Besides these complaints, I did like your game! The art was cute and clean, and the soundtrack fit in well. Congratulations!

Twin Condition by jackrugile 2016-01-04T05:09:00

Wow, this game looks and feels really, really polished. The art looks smooth and professional, and the mechanic itself is simple and well-executed. Nice work!

Oslo's Puppy by OttersDen 2015-12-17T07:51:00

"Oh hey, a chicken. OH GOD IT'S EATING HIM." *foom*

Anyways, awesome game! I love the smooth graphical style. Like many others have said, the two-button controls are a little bit strange, but I was able to figure out how they work.

Great job. :D

Hop On Home by m3games 2015-12-17T08:21:00

Dude, I'm sure you can turn this into something really great. You have the aesthetic and mechanics down really well, all you need to do is build some levels!

Carp'e Diem! by Archonthewizard 2015-12-15T04:14:00

Wow. Just wow. When I first scrolled through the images for your game, I saw a coelacanth and immediately I was uh, well... hooked. I really, really love what you've done with this game. Carp'e Diem is simple to play, yet offers a good deal of strategy and a good sense of progression. Letting the player choose which fish to adopt into their armada and offering up new fish was a very good decision. Overall, this game felt really polished, and the visuals were stunning when considering the amount of time you had to complete them. My one caveat to the game is that clicking to reassemble your army felt a little unnecessary, as I ended up keeping the left mouse button down the entire time. Each enemy type also kept me on my toes and forced me to revise my strategy, and there were enough enemies and combinations of them to keep me entertained and the game feeling fresh. I genuinely enjoyed playing your game, and I want to congratulate you on a successful Ludum Dare. Best of luck in the judging round!

Jeff is having issues controlling his appetite by Ittai Manero 2015-12-15T03:37:00

While I'm a little bit sad that the player is confined to the living room and bathroom, I think what you've already accomplished is pretty impressive! The art looks great, and the humor is spot on (there are a few grammar errors here and there, but it's not a big deal). It didn't quite hold to the theme, but congratulations on completing it anyways!

Seven Weeks of Cat Monarchy by Fathom 2015-12-15T04:24:00

I can tell a lot of work went into the character sprites for your game. While it didn't exactly fall under the category of "Growing" or "Two-Button Control", I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The humor in the game is great, although I did feel like running back and forth to the advisors was a bit of a chore. The writing was entertaining as well, but the choices felt a little bit too black-and-white, with no real moral issue, and I didn't feel invested in the peasant's problems. Overall, I enjoyed the game. Congratulations on a successful Ludum Dare!

Sentient Sewage by blakeohare 2015-12-15T04:33:00

I can tell a lot of love was put into the water itself, but I wish that same love was reflected on to the worker himself. Other than that, I found the game really fun, and enjoyed the challenge. Good job!

Valk Unit Lawyer by oz2mura 2015-12-31T06:59:00

I really enjoyed playing your game! The dialogue's humor was spot-on, and each verdict required much deliberation. The art style and overall mood you chose for the game really matched it well. My only criticism is that the time between choosing your verdict and receiving the actual verdict seemed a little bit too lengthy.

Two buttons to save the city ! by LavWa 2015-12-15T03:28:00

It's a simple, solidly built game.
While it didn't innovate, it was certainly entertaining, and I felt like the system had just the right amount of punishment for each mistake.
A part of me wished an animation or an explosion would actually happen when the player ran out of time, but what you have is perfectly fine.
Congratulations on a successful Ludum Dare!

Invent the Wheel by Delicious Code 2016-08-30T02:31:00

Your web link doesn't seem to work, and your Windows standalone version appears to just be... a ground texture. I'll check it out if you fix your links!

SPACE DRUNK by freakoftheyear 2016-08-30T03:13:00

I'm so dizzy right now. Help.

I like how the main mechanic (the movement) reinforced the central concept of the game (that you're drunk). I didn't get that far, but I really liked the humor of the game and the fact that you managed to assemble such a large level in time.

I need to go lie down now.

The Lost Caveboy by omid 2016-08-30T03:52:00

This has been said a million times, but the artwork in this game really pops! The animation on the NPCs is especially good-- it's very smooth and looks professional!

I would have loved for the game to be a little more responsive-- little visual touches like knockback, flashing, or hurt animations would have made it a lot easier to see what was going on when you were attacked or attacked other enemies.

Stones versus Blasters by SteampunkIslande 2016-08-30T02:39:00

This was really simplistic and had charming cartoon graphics. The spaceships were really cool looking, and I like the toon outline shader you put on things. I think you could have a compelling game here, given more time.

I think the most pressing issues with it come from a lack of information. The first time I played I wasn't aware that I could move the camera up and down the path, and it wasn't clear to me when and where I could build towers.

Light Up The Sky by Huskitch 2016-08-30T03:04:00

Yeah, that was pretty cool! I love the old-school pixelated 3D graphics, and that opening sequence is really fancy. It was a bit difficult to figure out what was going on, or what I was trying to do, but I was able to eventually.

Homecoming by adaFish 2016-08-30T02:30:00

I think you guys did a good job with trying to establish a story, especially in the short 72 hours! I'd love it if there were more ways to interact with the room (more belongings, perhaps?). The interpersonal relationships in the game read clearly; I especially love the mother's sense of humor.

In the web version of the game, the music didn't play when I put the cassette into the player. I also occasionally had some issues with the player throwing objects in random directions when I tried to drop them into the boxes-- I'm just treating that like it's canon and assuming that he has poor motor skills.

Ancient Heritage by indieyp 2016-08-30T02:19:00

I really like the aesthetics of this game-- the music was very peaceful and accompanied the core game well. It's very relaxing and zen-like.

However, I really don't like the whole "teach by yourself" policy, however, since I was really frustrated with the game after dying one too many times while trying to learn. The frustration I felt at the invisible rules broke the zen effect that the game was trying to set. It seems somewhat arbitrary that the player dies if they have too much energy-- there's no indication of what that limit is.

Imbanana Jones and the Ancient Technology by Crimson713 2016-08-30T03:07:00

I went in expecting in just pure silliness, but to my surprise it was not only incredibly silly, but a coherent game too! The mechanics are pretty creative.

One issue I ran into was the ghosts bunching up until they might as well just be one ghost. Maybe add some random variations on their AI.
