A system administrator trying to hold an office together just before Y2K is a great setup for Old Tech. The detailed art looks lovely :) great work! I wonder what "SGBCALC" actaully does lol consulting for tech?

helgust 2026-10-20 14:47 ♥ 0

@avi Thanks a lot for your comment! It means a lot!

esh-k 2026-10-20 16:44 ♥ 1

Great system administrator simulator. I really liked the graphics, they are top-notch. The audio is just as good. It was an interesting experience. Good job!

gamescodedogs 2026-10-20 19:34 ♥ 2

Someone recommended this game in the comments, so I played it.

I liked how everything looks. It’s very stylish. I also enjoyed the gameplay, similar to Punch Club or older games where you move around an isometric level and always have plenty to do. It feels like an office life simulator.

The setting hooked me right away: an office with old computers in 1999. My first thought was, “Wow, that’s interesting. I haven’t seen anything like this before.”

There’s a little too much text for me. As a player, I’d really appreciate being able to play without having to read so much. Overall, though, it’s really cool.

The music sounds grand and rich. I wouldn’t expect music like that in this kind of game. It’s excellent.

I don’t know how many artists worked on this, but the artwork is beautiful. If your artist has an ArtStation profile or something similar, please share it. I’d love to see more of their work.

helgust 2026-10-20 20:11 ♥ 0

@gamescodedogs Thanks a lot for your feedback! This was our second Ludum Dare as a team. This one was a bit tougher than we first planned, but we have room to grow. We only have one artist on our team. You can check out his work from our previous Ludum Dare here: https://walking-barrel.itch.io/the-last-headline

He doesn't have a portfolio yet besides his previous work. Maybe it's a sign to create one! But if you'd like, I can share his contact info with you.

gamescodedogs 2026-10-20 20:15 ♥ 1

@helgust Your LD59 project also looks amazing :) The Soviet apartment blocks outside the window and the pixel art poster of Lenin (I think it's Lenin) made me laugh :)

kiddoo 2026-10-20 21:44 ♥ 1

Very nice setup, good story and the mood is here. Too much dialogs before gameplay, but that's just my opinion 😊

loiclegrosfrere 2026-10-20 22:18 ♥ 1

I didn't make it to the end because, not being very comfortable reading in English, I didn't quite grasp the plot 😢

That said, I can confirm that there are plenty of mini-games! I even noticed that others are planned (and it’s great that they work, even without polished graphics!)

Also, I didn't quite understand the purpose of the coffee and exhausting is not moving, is that features that hasn't been implemented yet?

helgust 2026-10-20 22:27 ♥ 0

Hi @loiclegrosfrere! Yeah, they’re implemented, but I think they’ll need a rework in the post-LD version of our game.

You can drink coffee to get a speed boost, and each new cup gives you an additional speed boost. In the name of productivity! If you exceed some level coffee, you will receive a panic attack, to bring things to normal you can drink water from cooler. To drink coffee or water from cooler press R

The exhaustion level was initially meant to fine any player who stayed at work after 18:00, when the working day is over. Then, the higher your exhaustion level, the higher the chance you’d oversleep and be late for work. But after a few tests, we found that no one stays at the office after 18:00, so it’ll need some rework!

wai-wd 2026-10-21 15:56 ♥ 1

I'm really impressed, it's very stylish and plays really well. Unfortunately, my English is pretty bad, so I couldn't quite follow the story

scrapmetal 2026-10-21 16:10 ♥ 1

It felt like I was working in an office in 1999 again. 😄 So many great little details. 👌 Also.. saw in a previous comment, call it "Office Life Simulator" <- YES. I would play the hell out of that. 🙌 'Office Life Simulator: 99'

I realize it is a jam, so only so much time for features... but I wanted a few more interactions and freedom. I almost quit before I got on the PC, (because I couldn't figure out how to do it at first). Turns out I wasn't standing in the right spot. But wow! That old school PC looks fantastic!! Inserting discs was a bit finicky, but I loved doing IT on old machines. I really wanted to interact with more of it, but maybe I didn't make it far enough.

I think esp for a jam... (limited time playing each game)... it was a bit bogged down by the story and dialogue. I couldn't get into the meat of the game fast enough. So I may have missed a lot of content. The characters are so great though! I just wish I had a little more freedom and autonomy messing with stuff, and 'working' in the office, and less time talking to people.

Awesome entry!

fis 2026-10-21 16:59 ♥ 1

I love those little minigames, quite accurate of how the Old Tech "problems" used to be. Laughed very hard when the mouses were to be cleaned. Well done! Really liked the music!

scrapmetal 2026-10-21 20:28 ♥ 1

Mouse cleaning?? Oh man... I need to play again to get further now... 😂

zozieee 2026-10-21 21:10 ♥ 1

I love the art and music! The mini games are fun, and the dialogue is funny. It fits the theme so well, and was really fun to play!

hexela 2026-10-22 14:38 ♥ 1

My coffee intake is truly horrifying)) Great job!

muhyrla 2026-10-22 14:55 ♥ 1

great concept for an IT office sim, took too much coffee (about 18 cups?) and hoped for some heart attack lol but it didnt come

cahard 2026-10-22 15:22 ♥ 1

Y2K sysadmin is a perfect fit for the theme, and the isometric office nails that 1999 feel, old school PC included. I used to work helpdesk myself, so the mouse cleaning minigame hit way too close to home. Laughed out loud. Art and music are way above jam average, and the coffee panic attack mechanic is a nice touch. Only gripe: too much dialogue before you get to touch the machines. I came for the IT work and wanted to be elbow deep in cables sooner. Still a stylish, charming entry, congrats to the team.

helgust 2026-10-22 15:46 ♥ 0

@cahard Thank you a lot for this words! Glad to see that you like style, and our little details! We will try to fix issues with dialog and bring more office work in game!

helgust 2026-10-22 15:47 ♥ 1

@muhyrla I think it is a good idea to implement!

liam 2026-10-22 16:07 ♥ 1

Very cool concept, nice polish and the mini-games are great. Could see how some had been iterated on more of course. It was a good combination of chill mini-games and some hectic movement that I enjoyed. I think some pacing issues with the gameplay for a jam, it's quite long and although the dialogue is great, maybe a bit much. Loved the lil speech bubbles from your colleagues during the day.

krakadushka 2026-10-22 16:27 ♥ 1

A very immersive gaming experience, thank you! :) I really liked the dialogues - they feel so natural and lively.

helgust 2026-10-22 16:29 ♥ 1

@liam Thanks for your feedback! We try to fix pacing in our in post ld version!

helgust 2026-10-22 16:30 ♥ 1

@krakadushka Thanks a lot! Our narrative guys works very hard to deliver it! Glad that you love it!

dashvirus 2026-10-22 17:18 ♥ 1

The amount of work given to make me feel like I'm an IT in an episode of The Office is really appreciated. I enjoyed the art (especially charas, such as evil Frank), the humor and the simple yet fun mechanics. The game is cleverly made. We can see that some placeholders remain but hey given the time you had, who cares ? The only thing I could notice is that I found it a bit too long to reach the gift and I'm not sur what's the purpose of buying cigarettes ? Maybe I missed somthing. Besides this small detail, a big gg to the team, it's a great work. Oh and the audio is gold, I love the music hahaha.

dekisenpaitm 2026-10-22 18:37 ♥ 1

Man that really gave me nostalgia p.p I miss the good old times, sounding like boomer ngl. The only thing I wished for was to stop the day when my daily tasks are done and correct me if I'm wrong but I didnt receive higher rewards for dailies right? But honestly thats the only thing I could critic, btw my favorite two games were connecting cables and closing popups xD

helgust 2026-10-22 18:59 ♥ 1

@dekisenpaitm Thanks for review! We are aware about some balance problems, and hope will fix it in post LD version! Glad that you love our minigames!

samuli 2026-10-22 19:01 ♥ 1

Great premise and jokes! Pacing could have been a bit tighter.

darwyn 2026-10-22 22:37 ♥ 0

Very nice premise. There’s a bit too much text at the beginning when you really just want to get started, but it’s not a deal-breaker. BUT PLEASE make a “Christmas at Home IT Support” version of this! Setting up the printer again, getting the cell phone to work faster, and so on :D

myokka 2026-10-23 09:39 ♥ 1

A great visual style — the pixel art really nails that late-90s office vibe, and the character designs give the coworkers so much personality. I love how the coffee/water balance and smoke break chats fit right into the Y2K setting, and once you get into the rhythm of managing everything, it's a really charming and unique little game.

jordantanner 2026-10-23 17:40 ♥ 1

Great mood and aesthetic here. The narrative provides some deeper implications to the scenario than just a boring office job, which I like. The retro style is great, certainly nailed the theme. The smoke breaks are a nice attention to detail that enriches the story and characters-- some devs might've left that out during a jam. Nice. Also love how caffeine increases move speed.Very very solid entry, enjoyed!

klengh 2026-10-23 22:38 ♥ 2

Awesome! Loved the art and setting. Drank too much coffee, got tunnel vision. 10/10

randomhuman 2026-10-24 11:27 ♥ 1

You really captured the feeling of turn of the century tech with those mini-games, and the feel of working in an office environment! I liked Gamer Emily a lot lol. Great dialogue, very funny stuff. A bit too much hanging around waiting for tasks sometimes, but that also makes it feel like working in a real office, so... I gave up on the smoking pretty quickly so I think I missed out on a lot of characterisation there, but it just didn't seem worth the money and I kept accidentally triggering smoke breaks when I was trying to do other things.

vary 2026-10-24 16:05 ♥ 2

oh man feel like you guys really nailed the office vibe of this. love love all the art, the computers and cables and floppy disks look great, and the writing is wonderful ("my internet fell out" good lord I think we all have known someone like this).

I thought the pacing was a little off. The tickets have a pretty strict timer on them so they can be easy to miss if several pop up at once, but then there is also a decent amount of down time so I ended up just waiting for the day to end (kinda just like work sometimes, was this intentional lol). I did like that coffee made you run fast though, that got a laugh out me. Overall really nice job!

nikiroz 2026-10-24 18:41 ♥ 1

Nice game with lovely art!

helgust 2026-10-24 23:28 ♥ 0

Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, we’re aware of the problem with smoke breaks and the overall balance issues. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it work well, so stay tuned for a post-LD version!!

helgust 2026-10-24 23:30 ♥ 1

@vary I know that feeling! Yeah, the whole ticket balance is kind of broken right now. We’re working on a post-LD version to fix all these problems and release the game as we intended, so please stay tuned!

helgust 2026-10-24 23:32 ♥ 1

@DashVirus Hi, thank you for your feedback! As for the cigs, their main goal is to add a bit more character development to your colleagues and to strengthen your reputation with each character. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish them the way we intended, so we're now working on a post-LD version. Stay tuned!

the-big-lost 2026-10-25 01:31 ♥ 0

Very ambitious entry! Lots to discover and explore. Lovely art. I enjoyed the computer fixing minigames a lot. Didn't understand all systems though, like the "Exhaust" and "Savings". Either I'm missing something, or getting to the savings goal takes a looong time 😅

andriybyelikov 2026-10-25 02:24 ♥ 0

The game is too long and the time goes too slow. Truly an office simulator. To illustrate my point I am writing this feedback while the game is running on another screen and I am writing this between tickets. The minigames are fun, except those that consist in clicking one button and waiting for a bar to load, or closing windows, or fetch quests. My favorites are fixing the printer and servicing the coffee machine, because they have a certain cadence to them. The yellow notification is sometimes hard to notice. Perhaps making the icons larger or adding a sound effect could help. Oh and by the way, the first thing I expected from coffee is that it would make the time pass faster. I got the good ending it seems.

braulio-jg 2026-10-27 18:50 ♥ 1

After a long time, I completed the game. I didn't reach the goal to buy a present for Rachel, it seems to need more time attending tickets. I would have liked that the pace of the game was faster. In the other hand, I loved the art, the music, and that every character has a personality of its own, you end up growing fond of them. Great experience overall!

custodi 2026-10-27 19:46 ♥ 2

Really loved office atmosphere! Pixel art looks great, and little mini-games are fun. Pacing feels a bit slow at times, with many dialogues and waiting between tasks. Still good entry.

elemel 2026-10-27 22:13 ♥ 2

Really impressive entry. Music and art was well done. Also enjoyed the writing, even if there was a lot to read. Pacing was uneven, either waiting around or having too much to do. Just like real life.

nbumgardner 2026-10-28 02:42 ♥ 2

The game feels like it is trying to accomplish a lot across a longer game experience than usually found on a game jam. I noticed the [Maaack Godot Game Template](https://github.com/Maaack/Godot-Game-Template), good job using it to set up a lot of settings.

To focus more on the gameplay loop, having more to do with longer cooldowns could be good, and allow ending the day early without having to wait for 18:00 in-game. Maybe the later days are supposed to amp up the difficulty and the first 1-3 days are practice, so that is an even better reason to allow going to the next day early.

Having the tunnel vision debuff is a cute idea. I am not a user of coffee or cigarettes, so I think some of the mood is lost on me. If I were into the moment though, maybe I would not skip through the dialog the first playthrough.

Speaking of dialog, the popup reminder about how coffee works right after finishing the first task was great timing, so the player could read a little more about how the game works and it might be relevant since they could try the coffee before their next task.
