@law5guy Thanks... realized i made it private..
Nice graphics! Just played it a little but drained mana quickly - any way to recharge?
@marc-grabow yes, filling the exp bar (green bar) gives you 1 more max health and mana, as well as a slight recharge to both
I played the webgl version & enjoyed it.
The game was fun. After a few playthroughs I started to understand the mechanics a bit - simple yet very challenging. Controls were fairly easy to use. Wish the map had more of those shooty-things and/or mana drained less easily from ranged attacks for game balance. Some UL overlay labelling the different bars would have been good too. Art style was interesting, and the sound effects were ok. Liked the art effects like the fog. Was a bit confused about whether the game was going for pencil-sketched - seemed more like retro video game. However this inconsistency was minor at best. Could imagine a nice chiptune soundtrack to this.
Art style was nice! It's a little tough to make out the LMB attack animation though, and it seems to have a long windup. Also a little hard to tell when you're hitting or when you're getting hit.
Really amazing art style! The gameplay is a little too hard I think. Maybe having a bit more knockback from the melee attack would help, or a faster recharge of the health and mana? I enjoyed it in any case, it is very well put together and a great take on the theme.
The bars aren't really self-explanatory, they could use some sort of icon/text description. Also the attack animations don't show very well where the damage is being made. I didn't really get either how the shooting was supposed to work. I managed to get a few shots off, but it seems like it didn't recharge?
The artwork is cool, but the player movements is too slow.
Good job, man!
Hard game with great graphics.
Great game, but I would agree that it is probably a little too hard. Having your energy regenerate, even slowly, would be a huge help, as leveling up using melee attacks is quite difficult. I did eventually beat the game, but I had to run straight to the boss. The boss fight was super fun, and the use of the theme was very clever.
Wow, your graphics are beautiful ! It made a great impression at first glance, very soft and moody. I loved the idea of the game as a graphite drawing, very cute and quite fitting for the theme. The difficulty is too high though, but I think the previous feedbacks told you this already. It would be great to play a more balanced version. Great work !
Overall a really fun game! The graphics are amazing and the sfx really suit the game. The only improvement I would suggest is to have a score counter and instructions describing how to refill ammo. Great entry!
Nice game and rad graphics! You did a great job in those 48 hours (even with boss fight )!
The only thing I would have wished for is more feedback on the actions in the game. First, how can I hit the swing attack? Do I have to aim it with the mouse or does it just hit to the left or right, like the animation shows? Even after several playthroughs, I was still unclear about that (maybe I'm stupid) and I was always wondering, if I hit the enemy or the enemy hit me, since the hit sound is the same and there is no hit animation. If this would be implemented, I think there is no need to make the game easier like other commentors mentioned. I would have also preferred to have a sprite for the projectiles in addition to the particle effect.
I enjoyed playing the game, the graphics are nice, and as others mentioned it's quite impressive that you made all this in 48 hours. However, as others have also mentioned, the game is quite hard. I did figure out what the different bars meant, but the fact that the mana doesn't recharge until you fill the xp bar is pretty punishing. Especially because you can only kill enemies with the melee attack which is really hard to connect without getting hit yourself. Maybe I just suck at this kind of game :P
I really like the graphics style you've got there. The first time the enemy died and left a cross behind I was like "wow!", it's such a simple but such an effective feature. I'm afraid I didn't really understand how to play though, or maybe (after reading other comments) I did and it's just quite hard. Maybe a bit more visual feedback on hitboxes and precise projectile position would be good. Good job overall!
The artwork here is excellently done, giving the game a very nice mood straight off the bat. I love the design work on the enemies, and the aiming and shooting mechanics feel excellent. Melee, however, is punishingly difficult, thanks to the long windup and the unclear hitbox on the player's attacks. The level-up system doesn't feel like a progression so much as a way of delaying the inevitable. Fortunately, reading @stevenjmiller's comment alerted me to the fact that the game also included a full boss fight. The boss was dynamic and challenging, and I felt accomplished having reached the win state.
