It looks as though when you die and respawn, you have 0 health? I'm not sure if this is intentional.

Thanks for letting me know! I just uploaded a new build that fixes that and properly positions the UI on certain resolutions. Let me know what you think. I had to cut quite a bit.
From the bit I played I like the art, frenetic pace and tactics needed to get through each room. Feels a bit trial and error, but nothing wrong with that. I did hit a pretty big bug in which I walked down from 'the workshop' to try and investigate what a person said about a wrench but I guess the door shut on me as I entered the room and I was unable to move anymore or get hit. Gonna chalk that up to playing it webGL.
This game seems like it has a lot of potential if it had just a bit more polish. As it is, the art is very nice but there could be some more visual effects (for hitting or destroying enemies, for example) and it seems like a lot of the tiles aren't properly aligned. Likewise, the music is very good but some sound effects are sorely missing. The gameplay is okay but lacks some flair and there are some strange bugs: * If you go back to a previous room too soon after entering a new one the view won't go back to the last room. * Some of the walls just stop bullets instead of destroying them, so you end up with piles of bullets lined up against them. * Sometimes you or the enemies can go through walls.
I quite liked interacting with people and helping them to get the gems. It seems to hint at a larger story which didn't get shown in the game. It was interesting how the world changed after being asked to get the wrench, which made you take a different route to get back where you came from. Keeping the gems when you died was also nice - I don't think I would be able to finish it otherwise. However, there really needs to be a better indicator that you can talk to someone and the talk range needs to be larger. It took me a while to realise I could actually interact with people.
Fun! The music is great, made it super intense. I really wanted to upgrade my gun. Fleshed out and polished up and this could be a really great game!
I liked the game but I also like Binding of Isaac and other games in the style so it's probably no surprise that I enjoyed this take on the genre. Music was solid. Wish there were more sound effects for combat related moves. I liked that the mechanic of being locked into a room until you defeated all the opponents was done the same way Binding of Isaac does it. I really liked the design on the directional shooter that alternated between horizontal/vertical shots and diagonal shots.
The art is great! It's kinda like Binding of Isaac though. The control and AI need some polished in the future. The doors confused me a lot... don't really know which can be passed through and which is not.
The gamespeed is on crack. Do the enemies drop things that the player needs to collect? I rarely got there in time and didn't see anything change when I think I did grab one.
Also got stuck south of the workshop.
Playing on WebGl.
Nice graphics!
Congrats on making a game in weekend! :)
Great start. I like the music and the fast pace of walking. The camera control was good too, however I did experience a bug in which I walked down from a room... I got stuck and I could see a room with a wrench in it. I never could get unstuck. Good effort and I believe that the game has potential.
This could have been so great! I loved the graphics and music used. The overall gameplay is also nice but unfortunately, I couldn't interact with the space key. First I thought I may be of the web player but after running the windows build I ran into the same issue. As I could not interact, I could not collect those gems and progress =|
So overall a really great game with a lot potential, especially for such a short period of time but there are a bunch of bugs that needs to be fixed.
Pretty fun! I encountered some strange bugs though, and could use a little polish ;)
Fun! The background track is hypnotic - made it super intense. I had fun playing it - and I wanted to upgrade my gun. I assume that you could improve this project - then it could be become a fun game very polished ++
@fatPenguin you actually collect items by just walking into them but you can't collect the gems until you complete the quest for each group of people nearby.
The game could be better with some polish, some thing I can think of is:
- Freeze everything when I change room. It's really frustrating to see myself walked into a turret while the camera move into new position, or having no time to react because an enemy charged right at me while the camera move. - Sometimes the bullets are not disappearing, probably because it's not colliding with something that specifically destroy it. - Movement speed of both player and enemy could be a bit slower, so they don't run at bullet speed.
I really like the direction this was going - the art and music especially were really nice. Unfortunately I kept getting stuck when going into a particular room so I did not get very far. Some of the rooms seem quite punishingly hard as well. I would definitely like to play a version of this after a bit more development, if you decide to take it further.
