That was a fun game. Though I think you should rework the look of the font numbers 2 and 5.

It's an excellent game. I didn't realize I'd spent an hour playing it. Great work!
Thx @jlauper, Iāll keep that in mind.
Wow, thanks! @ancooper But how did you manage to rack up an hourādid you not speed up time?
@t4ran I didn't speed up the game. On the contrary, I paused it to read hints š
An extremely well rounded art style. Font is sometimes hard to read: 2, 8, e, R. Fun to play, could also double as a nice screensaver.
What an awesome game! I love the art and the story
This game is sincerely absurd. Beautiful atmosphere and use of old tech. I might return to it later to play even more. Until now, my number 1 game!
@strong99 Damn, thatās a great idea. I think Iāll turn it into a screensaver.
@tanjou Thanks, I'm glad you liked it š
This has a TON of atmosphere and wonderful audio. Have you ever played or seen āThe Final Stationā? this is very similar in tone, very different in gameplay⦠but that is a good thing as it is one of my favourites! I also WISH that game had a map :D Nice work. (Repost as I put this review in the comments on the main page by accident!)
@designernap Thank you so much! Iāve heard of *The Final Station*, and I'm glad my game reminds you of it!
Impressive game for 48h! Reminded me of Frostpunk obviously, was a well self-contained adventure. Congratz!
@sevansevan Thanks! During development, I drew a lot of inspiration from it, but the concept of constant movement allows for a different kind of gameplay experience
Wow! Such a great Compo entry! I love the visual style and the gameplay, although itās a bit difficult at first. I hope you release it on Steam someday! I'm getting Snowpiercer and FTL vibes from this
Wow, what an amazing game! Just lost my first run, but had to write the comment now. What a polish for a COMPO-game. The visuals and audio are excellent. The QOL-things like putting the time to normal speed when an event pops up is a good little detail. And the overall atmosphere is incredible! This will be one of the best placed COMPOs this year, I am pretty sure. Very good job! :)
This game is a real treat! Stylish, cohesive and fun. I made it to the end with 32 people on my train.
Great game! kinda stressing out, which sets the whole melancholy mood! and pixel is just cant be bad
What an addictive and at the same time relaxing experience! I would play this hours more! :D
Insanely well done - it wasn't too obvious exactly how to play, but figured it out. (That is a "trap" my own entries end up with). I absolute loved the look and feel of the game. I hadn't checked and I kind of assumed it was a "Jam" game - because "no way" you did all this... but was surprised to see it was a compo.... Like someone else said... very snow piercer-ish.
@dejavu Iāve watched the footage and bought the gameāI want more! Thanks for writing. What do you think about swapping the "fog" theme for "cold"? This question has been on my mind since the very beginning of development. Also, Iām curious: what do you think might prove difficult for players at the start?
@lllarso, @cyb3rp1nce, @codingoat Thanks to everyone who played! @mineaj, I was worried at first that Iād made it too long for a game jam, so thanks for putting those doubts to rest.
Thatās great to hear, @purpledartfrog. In that case, I have a follow-up question: could you explain what typically causes difficulties during the initial stage?
Beautiful pixel art! I really like the visual style and the atmosphere it creates. Great work!
Amazing game, the atmosphere is a little bit tense and the decisions are quite hard to make. Doesn't feel too punishing attempting to be "the good guy", but still the fog caught up to me. Well done!
Really really good game. I'll have to come back and play this more after the jam!
Thank you! @fis Itās hard to be good in a bad world.
@jusaperson Glad to hear that! Maybe Iāll have a post-jam version ready by then
The game was really fun! This is probably my favorite so far. I'll have to play the post jam version if it comes out.
This is really spectacular. Gorgeous, atmospheric, moody, tense. I want moooooar š
This game is Wild! I could imagine how to make so many game system in two days! You are incredible!
Oregon trail meets snowpiercer/frostpunk. Fun game, would be interesting to see it further along
I liked it, though I didnāt bother to figure out how to playāit probably seemed a bit too complicated. In any case, for the right mood and the right audience, it looks excellent and very interesting!
Okay, this is probably my favorite game in terms of gameplay out of everything I've played so far in this jam (and I've played quite a few!).
Honestly, I can't find a single thing to complain about. For a game with this much complexity, everything is remarkably clear and easy to understand. But most importantly, all the mechanics work together as one cohesive system, creating an incredibly replayable experience.
I'll definitely be coming back to this one after the jam to try out all the different route combinations.
I'm seriously impressed. I really hope this game makes it to the top!
Thank you all for the comments! ā¤ļø After the jam, I'll also try to release a post-jam version for everyone who wants to play more!
@ajisboss @randomhuman @helgust @Grizwhirl @lovecreep @skigfx
a colony builder on an old train that has to keep moving or get swallowed by the fog is such a tense setup, it turns every stop into a real decision. the expedition loop and the rescued passengers give the run a nice sense of purpose too. how did you tune the fog timer so the pressure stays tense without feeling unfair? really strong concept.
@perrarancino I tied its speed to the in-game time, so it gradually increases. But, as you may have noticed, wind speed also affects how fast the fog moves. This was necessary to make the fog's advance non-linear and create a difficulty curve. I balanced the game based on how much time I wanted players to have at each station, so they could carry out expeditions. Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the concept combine a base builder but with exploration survival. The font choice is a bit iffy, and early game might little a little more prompting as I didn't realize stopping the train would help
What a amount of content for 48h! I don't usually play this kind of management games but looked interesting so here we are. It was pretty easy to follow what to do next which is always good. Cannot propose any changes but I enjoyed the ride!
I love train games. I really like how you implemented this in pixel art, as well as the game's concept itself. Cool!
It was so peak. Love the "Keep Driving" vibes.
This one caught my full attention. Reached the terminal with the second attempt. Love the atmosphere. I learned decisions need to be made in order things to work out. I didn't have much luck with "low-risk" events and EVERY TIME somebody got hurt.
Great work, this is clearly one of my favorites.
@coderaurus Thanks, glad to hear that
Super atmospheric, I had a lot of fun! Some small feedback: I found the font a bit hard to read, I think there are more readable options out there. Also, the way something like āGroup 1 1h 30mā is displayed isnāt ideal. I actually panicked for a moment because I read it as 11 hours of waiting while the fog was coming in. Near the end I had the choice to uncouple a wagon, and it would be great if that were possible at other times too, to gain speed. I had a situation where I knew I wasnāt fast enough but also didnāt have enough to buy the upgrade, so I couldnāt do anything for several minutes except wait.
But please see these only as suggestions, otherwise I think the game is awesome and I really enjoyed it. Great entry!
Ah, the fog got me, but I'll definitely come back and give it another try later. The game is absolutely fantastic!
**Loved it!**
The gameplay loop is very addictive, the pixel art is gorgeous and I really enjoyed the mini-events. Sadly, the Fog caught up to me, but I'm willing to give it another go.
Hands down, of the best entries for this Ludum Dare!
Excellent game about a train. At the beginning it's hard to understand what to do to get your first food (the kitchen doesn't have enough right away), which is a bit confusing. Also, it's unclear why there are coal stations in the demo (there's already plenty of it anyway). I lost because I didn't figure out that I needed to run from the fog. Other than that, just super! The graphics are top-notch - I really liked them, the map and expeditions look very interesting, I think I would happily play the release version, so it would be cool if you finished it.
@kitmani Thanks for the feedback! I've taken your points into account, and I'm planning to release a post-jam version after the jam ends. I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
@hotcoffee Hope you'll outrun the Fog on your next run! Thanks for giving my game a try!
@turbolaser Glad you enjoyed the game! I'd love to see you give it another try!
@darwyn I appreciate you sharing these suggestions! I'll try to address these issues in the post-jam version. I'm glad the game made a good impression!
Excellent game! I managed to escape the fog without any deaths. I think having a carriage that generates food, combined with one that cooks it, makes it easy to take in new people. Perhaps requiring wood to produce raw food would help balance the greenhouse carriage a bit. In any case, I love the game and its atmosphere!
The pixel art is gorgeous, and the atmosphere is incredible! Really cool mix of train management and exploration. Impressive work for just 48 hours!
This was a very fun and cool concept. I think the darker ui box above the coal car got me thinking it was disabled for some reason and I totally forgot about the fog when I was lost in the fun of exploring a location I arrived at. I wish I had more time to put into additional runs as the learnings from my first play would have greatly improved the success of further attempts/runs. Gave me some very nice abstract memories of games similar to FTL-style too fog/fleet and scenarios.
I think it would be good to have an alert like "YO FOOL THE FOG IS ABOUT TO BE HERE" lol I totally spaced out if it did alert me before dying.

Yeah! Really impressive! A bit confusing what's going on at the beginning. I'm not sure if I should have built a mushroom farm, bc I basically had no food the whole game, although the fog still got me at the second to last stop. Agreed about the number 2 font. Nice job!
Really like the feeling of risk/reward with this,, Amazing work!
