Awesome !
increible
neat littele game, very nice graphics and sound i felt it was off beat though
Nice little game. Made me want to play Patapon again :D
Fun little game! YEARGH HOO!
nice idea! I really need to play Patapon again now too >.<
Amazing entry! I love how unique the control scheme is, and the art style is equally unique as well. Really well done!
well... it looks cool and gameplay is great (love patapon back in the days) but this is why games like this have calibration option. I couldnt hit anything and spot is so tight that its impossible to hit. Also i managed to play it without music because it felt little bit off. Or maybe its because i have this oldshool keyborad with higher keys resistance, i dont know :( anyway without calibration option i cant play it :( But it looks cool, play cool, sounds cool, idea is great.... i think i will try it with different keyboard, maybe i can progress better Please make it soften or make calibration option, there are tons of people with tons of different setups and sense for tempo, its unwise to setup game like this for your configuration and tempo feel. Lags really matter in game like this :(
Cool!
The music needs some calibration but other than that its a fun light game
Really fun game, the music is amazing. The game play gets a bit repetitive, but if you could fix that with different songs/changing speed, it would be amazing. Definitely bookmarked, I'm looking out for a post-jam release.
wow, amazing! the only thing that took me a while to realize, is that i have to press the button twice and then not pressing it vor 2 beats. if you could add that to the ui, so the player won't be confused why he missed the beat, even though he pressed at the right time. other that that it's a really great game, with great graphics and nice gameplay! :)
Really cool I love it! Best game i play from this jam at this moment :D
Wow what an amazing game!
This was the first game of this LD that I rated and it was a great start to my rating session. I always love rhythm games and this one was really good. The pirate music was just perfect. The art-style was really clever and well executed! The idea of letting your crew repeat after you was amazing! This adds so much to the "piratey" and adventerous feel of the game. I also liked all the small details like using bottles as a health bar, the funny speech bubbles or curtain-transitions. They make the game feel much more polished. Also the fact that you had the time to create a tutorial sets you apart from many other Ludumdare games. This saved me several minutes that are often necessary to find out how a game works (Thank you for that :) ).
The only thing that could be improved in my opinion is the difficulty curve. After a while it felt like it didn't get much harder and became a bit boring. It would maybe be better if the speed increased over time or if the enemies became more impressive.
I really enjoyed playing your game and would be happy if you could also check the game we created! :)
Great game. I loved the cardboard cutout play style of the art. The sound was great. I'll be singing that tune as I go to sleep tonight though haha. Great entry. Thanks for the game.
Started off going "What...?" and finished off with a grin on my face! The tutorial just felt a bit disconnected from the gameplay, so it took a minute to work out. Well done!
Thank you for creating such an awesome game! I really enjoyed it and sailed 97 nautic miles with ~3k Points. Your game idea was incredible and your execution expecialy with music and graphics was perfect!
Nice art, but there wasn't any sound when I played the game. There were also no enemy ship, so it seems like something is bugged.
It's really fun to play ! Music is great, principle is simple but nice and the art is very well done. Good job !
@mika-la-grand thanks for your feedback, on what OS are you playing ?
Loved it! Simple yet really nice to play
Really funny and original game! The buttons in the main menu got me x) I would have enjoy a little variation in the rhythm or when I should let the pirates sing. The music is awesome (and I love pirates songs)
Novel take on rhythm mechanics and overall great presentation. Neat!
Unfortunetly there are no ships spawning for me. So game is prety boring. Maybe it has to de with the patch 28 min ago.
I could play it for hours (and probably will), nicely done! thanks for making it
Nice graphics! Nice music! Nice game!
Really unique idea ! Really fun to play, with goods musics !
@mysteriousbaboon If you enjoyed playing our game, you should check out the games of the license Patapon. Keep It Afloat is a tribute to this kind of rhythm game!
Unique game with nice graphics.
Rhythm games are appreciated during these jams because they are really refreshing! The concept is nice and I actually want to play with more interaction, enemies or events. Great work!
Yarrr tis a fine game! It feels really satisfying to get into a rhythm and make progress, just like with real sea-shanties (I'd imagine)! Great work!
Edit: Forgot to mention how much I love the art, that paper cutouts wobbling about aesthetic!
Super fun! Graphics, sounds, and gameplay are really good. If there were more content, I would have played hours.
Another pirate game, awesome. Had quiet some fun playing it. Fitting Graphics and UI buttons which are crucial to the game. Great entry, keep on sailing matey :skull_crossbones:
@kemsou Windows 64 bits
@mika-la-grand Is it better with the last version we put online ?
@mika-la-grand To make the enemies appear you must order the crew to move forward, the further the ship advances the tougher the enemies will be. Beat the Pam-Boom order and the ship will move forward to meet the enemies, they won't spawn until you move.
Fun little game, enjoyed it, the graphics and the sound was amazing.
Innovative, fun and polished. Only complaints are that drinking is not explained and that you can't seem to easily reset after losing.
Hey ! We had a lot of fun playing this, very well done, brings back memories of patapon, CLASSIC ! The graphics are definitely among the best I've seen so far in this LD ! Thank you for making this game :)
@stadoblech how exactly does calibration affect gameplay. Calibration of music with what exactly. Just curious
@joamd calirabtion is not about music, its because of input lag and human perception. As i said, everybody have different specs, input devices (keyboard) and also different perception of tempo. Calibration should adjust input to fit your needs
AARGH PIRATES ! Nice game you got there ! I really love the "paper drawn" style of the ships & UI. Gameplay is simple but efficient and everything looks polished ! Keep up the good work.
Loved it~! I've never actually played a game like this before so it was a good time! I don't have any feedback that can be used to improve your game, if i think of something i'll circle back to this comment section and add it :)
I like the visual style and the music. The gameplay idea is fun, but I am not able click on the beat for very long. Overall a fun little game idea. Well done.
Damn I fucking love this art style and the music. A very great LD game - in my opinion! It was a pleasure to play it. Thanks for submitting and make sure to submit again next LD ;)
We streamed the gameplay live on our twitch channel (https://www.twitch.tv/firesplashtv), watch out for the highlights of todays VOD ;)
this game is just incredible man! so fun to play. and the music is great! I sailed 37 miles. (yes distance is always the real score). nut then a stupid Octopus killed me
just lovely. this is defiantly going to my favorites. and I don't have many.
Well done! Great entry. I really had a fun expierence with it. The core mechanics were interesting worked very intuitively. The music was awesome and fit the theme very well. The art was nice as well and I liked the whole "cut-out" look. The only thinks I didn't like were the very slow nature of the game and some ui decisions. Since you have to wait two after you made the inputs makes everything a little "laggy" and slow. This might be hard to fix since I guess that it was a deliberate design choice. Maybe when progressing, you could increase the bpm to make things faster and more challenging? The second thing I would improve would be the placement of the beat indicator. It was very small and at the top of the ui, so my eyes were usually up there and only occasionally wandering down to what was actually happening. Maybe it would be possible to include the beat indicator in a way, that it can be seen subtly from everywhere (for example in the background over the full screen) That way, the player doesn't have to concentrate on the tiny ui element.
Other than that, very good, rounded and polished entry. Fantastic job!
This was dope, also.. how has no one pointed out the music is Frog's Theme from Chrono Trigger yet? Cool easter egg. Fun game. Good job!
@axelrose Yessss! Finally somebody heard it! Hahaha thanks a lot!
Very cool concept. The music and piraty sounds are very cool and it's fun to give orders to the beat. I suck at rhythm games but here it was easy enough that even I could do it
Graphics are also very pleasant to look at. Overall,a fun game!
The game is very nice, He's one of the best I've ever played, although I don't like rhythm games. Congratulations !
- Points for using the lovely Godot. - Liked the humour in the main menu. It is small, but a nice touch. - The game itself seems really cool and fun, the presentation and music are top notch, but I suck at fast paced games and I was completely lost trying to follow the beat indicator and I had no idea of what to do.

Analysis...
1 - Mechanics, Learning and Flow: I found it very interesting to combine rhythm, dexterity, real-time strategy and all this "fun". :) Learning how to play took a while, because I didn't pay so much attention and ended up getting involved in watching the tutorial (there was no way I could go back to read the previous parts). I think the tutorial was very good for the game jam time, but it can be even better if you have to go back and forth between the pages, remove the interaction arrow from the same visual layer as the arrows used to explain the movement of the boat etc. Another good thing to do would be to put a gif of the operation there, maybe it would be even clearer and more direct. The game flow was very interesting, I was just a little confused and I lost at the end or if I won (only that feedback was missing). About the life of my boat, I was a little confused, I think I will play again to confirm some suspicions. So the post-event advice on making this game (which I considered one of the most fun so far) remains even better.
2 - Graphics, Audio and Narrative: The graphic art was very beautiful, it would only affect some things like positioning choices. Because I would like to enjoy the graphic art more while playing, looking at the top of the screen to hit the controls in the rhythm ended up taking my attention away from the art (which I often wanted to be looking at in the meantime). The audio was amazing too. Congratulations. The narrative is simple and straightforward, so there's not much to talk about. I found it very funny to have buttons on the menu to simply play sound effects. Hahahahahah.
3 - Culture: The game makes, in a fun way, a view on navigation at sea, on battles and even sea beasts. I think it's a good mix of rhythm, dexterity, RTS and action. ^^
4 - Monetization: The game looks very good and could sell on smartphones (in my view). In addition, with a campaign mode, with several stages, in addition to survival mode (with procedural generation) and world scoreboard (weekly and all the time) it could be very cool and even be sold on Steam. I believe that adding control not only via arrows (ASDW and others) could enhance and expand the scope of the project. Congratulations again.
@gustavo-christino thank you so much for your feedback, with such complete feedback you make us work hard to make the game evolve.
100% my favorite game so far! Please keep developing it, this could be an amazing movement/combat mechanic if interspersed with story and ship upgrades
