I liked your Sprites and the changing weather. The text was a little bit to fast away and it almost crashed everytime I died
Really nice, great visuals, replayable, good fit for the theme, well done! And thank you for the donut! ;D
Nice game! I really liked the graphics - especially the weather effects and how they changed every sprite. Your take on the theme is also very original, and I liked the randomly generated levels. The text disappeared too fast - I had to open the game multiple times to read it - and both the player and enemies could hurt each other off-screen, but other than that, good game!
Nice simple game. I've heard there are chance to bugfix, so: 1. no sound 2. instead of reloading after death game crushes
Concept is nice: changing weather and surroundings. Take time after jam and try to make more of this idea. For example, if it rains and ground is muddy hero will move slower, and so on. Keep up!
P.S. St.Petersburg - like russian St.Petersburg?
The game looked really pretty! Amazing job on the art and the effects. I especially liked the winter atmosphere, but that might just be me :D
The gameplay worked well too, but might need a bit more feedback. Like sounds and screenshake! Also, it seemed like the game froze whenever I died :/ Gamedesign wise, it was not super clear what I needed to do. I collected a few of those green orbs, and found this machine, but I was not sure what to do with them. Did I just have to collect all the green orbs?
Anyway, very well done in 48 hours! This was cool :)
@wuppos @frogman @ilokimo @mrbell270 @ludokultur @erikengineengineer Thank you all so much for the feedback and for playing!
@erikengineengineer @mrbell270 @wuppos I think the bug after death is due to the large number of sprites and effects that are created when the new level is generated. But if you wait a couple of seconds, everything will load. I completely forgot about optimization )
@mrbell270 @wuppos You're right, the lack of sound effects diminishes the overall experience of the game. I am not good at music, but I tried to create sounds in BFXR but I could not get anything suitable for this game
@mrbell270 The effect of the weather on the player is a great idea, I've already come up with some interesting concepts with this thing, thanks :). P.S. Yep. I'm from St.Petersburg :)
@wuppos You have to collect all the green orbs, go to the device and press E button :). Screenshake is a good idea for the moment when the weather changes, I think if add screenshake and lightning or something like that it will look nice
@krjemelik Привет из Москвы (Hello from Moscow)
Cool game! I think it could be better if weather would change something in gameplay - e.g. slowdown in winter or light-blinking in fall
That's a nice take on the theme! I really-really like the visuals and the different seasons!
I was streaming my playthrough of some games and made a recording of it. I hope it will be helpful for you to see a first-time player's perspective of your game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88rtTOXawsw I'm starting to play your game at 34:39
I managed to earn a cup of coffee + a donut :). I really liked the visuals, I loved how everything changed with the weather. Were the levels randomly generated? If they are, that is also very cool. Great job! :)
The graphics and weather effects are neat. I also liked the illumination effect.
Like others have said, it could use more UI and feedback mechanics. I especially noticed the lack of a health bar. In a pinch, I think even text would be acceptable to show health. The bullets could have also used some kind of feedback mechanism(ie. sound or the enemy flashing when hit). They were also simply quite small to see.
Overall it's decent enough for a compo game. Just needed a couple basic elements added in.
@tygrak Yep, levels are generated randomly ) Thank you!
@thecritterscove I completely agree with you, there is a great lack of UI and feedback mechanics. I did not attach much importance to this at the development stage, but now I see that it had a bad effect on the gameplay. Thanks for the feedback!
Interesting take on theme! Would be awesome to weather influence not only graphics but gameplay too. I think you just hadn't enough time) Still good COMPO entry!
Thank you for the donut and a cup of coffee! :coffee:
Very solid entry for compo, well done!
Cute little game! Really liked the graphics and its simplicity.
Good implementation of the day and night lighting effects, I like the weather casting, thanks for the coffee and the donat.
Congratulations on your contribution.
I agree on the weather - the game looks great! And i actually had some fun with it, saw it through to the end - i appreciate you going on the easy side. Fun game, I enjoyed it. Would be interesting if the weather machine played in a little more.
Changing weather is an interesting take on the theme, and I like the art.
I found the game to be too difficult due to the lack of a health bar and sound effects. Specifically not having a sound effect for the enemies shooting made it hard to dodge their attacks.
Thank you for a cup of coffee at the end :)
The changing weather, along with changing enemies, is great. I liked autumn the most. I think it would look even better if you'd blend between them smoothly, instead of just snapping between the weather states.
Health bar / hearts would be welcome, and some visual/audio damage feedback would really improve the player experience here. Also, I discovered that it's totally possible to just stand out of agro range of an enemy and shoot him dead without him even taking one shot
