A very solid package! Some cool gameplay, art is cool, and music (selection) was great!
I'm not sure if I understood how the game worked. Flies always get stuck to the first web they reach. It seems largely random whether they stick on the web or not. Please tell me if there was something I did not understand, and I will happily try the game again!
I enjoyed my moments building some webs though!

Hey Nash! Yeah we should probably explain how the webs work a bit more. For every intersection a web has the stronger the strand is. So if have one strand it can hold 2 flies, but if you have two strands that intersect they can hold 3. If one of the strands breaks the other one can now only hold 2 again.
Finding a way to create as many intersections as possible is one strategy!

@nash we stared at this project so long we left it out of the tutorial. Happily added a blurb in the tutorial to teach the mechanic. thanks dude
The spider really caught my attention — it’s a shame she doesn’t appear during gameplay. I liked the battle music during the fly encounters; it makes the fight feel much more epic than it actually is. I enjoyed that. I didn’t quite understand how to reinforce the web — I tried several times, but I think I just didn’t get what that meant. Maybe an in-game tutorial (I know, it’s a Game Jam, so that’s asking a lot) could help clarify where exactly to place a web to understand what a “reinforced web” is. I’m not sure if it strays from the theme since it feels more like a resource management puzzle, but catching flies sounds like a fun pastime — I might even adopt that in real life.
The music when flies are released made me laugh:D I think the sound choices here overall are pretty good at setting the mood. Might be that I'm a little too tired, but I had trouble building good enough webs after about five levels. But it was fun! Thanks for this game!
Very interesting gameplay

This was a lot of fun! Trying to figure out what the best way to span your web is on limited space. I also really enjoyed the suddenly super intense music when 'the flies are coming' XD The one thing which was not very clear to me was what caused webs to release. I am guessing it is when there are too many flies on one web? I think some more indications of how strong a web is/under how much stress it is would have helped. But that is a really small nitpick :D
One other issue is that I did not get the end-of-level screen at some point when I failed a level (it was the first level where flies come from above). This meant I had to restart the game unfortunately

@wuppos we have been seeing that level 4 bug prior, and have a living list of bugfixes. We just gotta find some time to take care of it. I'm sure it will happen soon enough. Thanks for checking the game out.
I love it! And I loved playing around with the string crossing mechanic once I managed to wrap my head around it :D
This game has big potential to become a full game imo! Some polish will be needed ofc, some of the objects' graphics and hitboxes don't quite align, and there are still some (uncollectable :P) bugs. But even something like a more visually advanced net system would probably already eliminate a lot of the confusion around it, like making the intersections more visible and see how much health they add to each of the strings potentially? Another small QOL thing would be to see how many bugs are coming in this level and from which side ^^
But aaa the gameplay is really cool and novel, all the right bones for a great game are there, and the vibes are already just wholesome and great. :3
Sidenote: Has anyone managed to get a perfect score for level 3 yet? I haven't figured out how to beat it without having a "first bait" string that is supposed to break and then the rest can go behind a more stable net.

@wuppos thanks for your feedback! I'll look into fixing level 4 because you're not the only person to have said that!
@aurora-bee I appreciate you saying all that! We're happy with the progress we made over this jam and it makes it all worth while when people see what we were seeing. Also in building that level I tried a ton to get it perfect and @jpgfg was the one to actually be able to do it.
I think there's a common thread (no pun intended) in making it more clear for web strength/why they're breaking. Keep the feedback coming!!
Very nice game. I think I have reached the end because at some point the final score was just not showing. The settings and about buttons in the main menu got me excited but only for a moment : ) I think for a game jam this is a perfect case of scoping it right. You have one mechanic and everything around it (for the most part works). It feels like something complete.
A clever puzzle game! I really like the mechanics, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this. The backdrops and music really set the chill tone well.

A game with a high Replayability! players can always find some new way to catpure the flies, which is fun.

Love seeing this game. My LD56 submission was similar in that the main loop was building a web to catch flies. Since then I've wanted to explore the concept more. I love the idea of building a functional spider web in a game.

I saw the cover and couldn't pass it up! The gameplay is very meditative and creative, and it's addictive. I spent more time playing your game than I planned, haha
Fun and unique take on the theme. I like myself a funny spider game :) Reminded me of bridge constructor like games, in addition with a fun twist. Great execution of your idea, combined with fancy artwork and fittingly selected music. Great entry :)
interesting puzzle game, i am not sure if i understood the concept but just tried to keep the connections as short as possible as 4 flies seemed to break the connection. As others mentioned, stage 4 seems to be broken would have liked to try a few more.

@xsangyhix Thanks for playing! I think you hit a bug that we're working to resolve right now, the game-controller shorts out and doesn't seem to want to bring the level completed screen back in. Will bugfix when we get a second in between work and school. We should also implement the "about" and "settings" to at least allow for volume control. The about page was translated into the LDJam page for brevity's sake. Hope to see you around.
@jackofcups Thanks man! We tried to make it as comfy as possible.
@mackelio I know the tutorial slide is pretty busy but were happy with it explaining some of the more nuanced concepts about segment strength. Regardless thanks a lot for the input, moving forward I think we'll try to tone down how busy it is. Thanks for playing!
@yichen Thanks for checking it out!
@bobap I'll have to go check that game out then, maybe pick up some new tips! Thanks for playing
@hassanm I'm glad you enjoyed it, addictive is what I like to hear. Thanks for playing
@robin-schmitz hey thanks for calling the artwork fancy!! We feel pretty lacking in that department.

Nice and straight forward game! Great style! The dramatic music and the flies flying close-by was especially fun!

As frustrating as it is when the flies tear apart my web there is still something weirdly funny about seeing a cluster of them fly away all at once, as if the little bastards came as a coordinated wrecking crew and simply depart after the job's finished. Got no complaints about this one - I'm just too dense to get past the level with the pipes and the tiny little anchor spot in the middle XD
A fun and well made game. Thanks for explaining the details of the web strength mechanic in the comments, it makes for an interesting problem. I like how (what I think are) the best solutions for most levels look appealing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_art).

This has a unique mechanic. It's satisfying (World of Goo-satisfying even). Relaxing. And this kept me playing all the way to the end. This is a perfect game! I gave this straight 5/5s across the board. =)

@ciphereo I'm glad you think so! Thanks for checking it out!!
@ira-baciu that was the goal!! We had a few ideas for spider sprites we threw around, we might have to push some of the others for additional cute-factor
@tesseus Thanks for playing! We had a lot of fun putting it together.
@ryusui Glad you had fun even when the flies were besieging your webs. Thanks for checking it out!
@tesseract We wanted to have the player building web-like structures so we were thankful that it worked out that way, that was the whole idea behind the reinforcing mechanic!

@stephenwhoskins That is high praise coming from you man! We wanted it to be a comfy experience, and also, you are the first person I've seen to max out on the last level, consider me learned!!!
Thanks for checking it out and a million thanks for the review.

Simple and easy-to-understand mechanics with a pretty cool and interesting implementation. The game encourages you to come up with different patterns from the web, and you have freedom, which is cool and addictive. Great game!
Addicting game. It's so cute. I loved making the webs. Fun music. Love the art especially the backgrounds. Loved all the levels. Great work!.

A pleasant and beautiful game! I perfected every level except the last one — I still finished it, but a couple of flies got away :) I really loved the dramatic music that plays when the flies start flying — such a great touch!
It’s a bit of a pity that you can’t stretch the web from its own nodes, but overall it’s an excellent game — I really enjoyed playing it.
