Great idea and game!

I solved the first riddle, but then the "Solve" button wasn't responding anymore. Is it intentional or a bug?

qusk2 2023-05-01 22:38

The idea is great and I like the artstyle!

You can kind of cheat by being one short of getting a 'nearly there' and scrolling through the options of a category. If you got it right, the text would change to 'nearly there' though.

perrin 2023-05-02 00:59

@gord10ahmet the solve button for the second riddle will open up if you explore a little and find a way forward

perrin 2023-05-02 01:00

@qusk2 yeah, the game doesn't stop you from cheating but hopefully people are playing to solve the mystery

shreemp 2023-05-02 02:55

aww i liked this, a good little penny dreadful vibe

zerovirus 2023-05-02 16:44

managed to brute force the first solution without leaving the starting room lol. (i did leave it and properly explore everything afterwards, i just wanted to see if i could do it at all, and i could!) very satisfying conclusion to a self-contained mystery. great work!

velvetlobster 2023-05-02 16:47

I love the flat 2d art style and the "dont starve" vibe of the characters.

the only thing against it is that you feel compelled to try all alternatives to find solutions kinda brute forcing them.

very strong mood btw

ugly-robot 2023-05-02 21:31

Very cool! Loved the ending. The art is exceptionally charming - the little curl in our protagonists hair being mirrored on her shoes was my favorite touch. A lovely short story with beautiful visuals and a nice soundtrack to boot! Well done!

makse 2023-05-02 21:33

Nice art and game, it was fun to solve the mystery

balimaarthebassfish 2023-05-03 08:14

It was a fun little mystery to solve :) Reached the end and found myself wanting more! I hope you pursue this project because its absolutely genius!

saltysa 2023-05-03 19:53

I really like the aesthetic and weird vibes of the game. I just had to check back here when the "solved" button didn't work in the second chapter and thought the game was bugged as I couldn't find anything new. I solved everything tho, I just had to brute force the "how" for the second chapter but that's on me It was a nice little game!

toc 2023-05-04 16:31

That was great! I managed to solve both of them on my first try :) It felt tense, because of the music in combination with the visuals. Good job!

sodoj 2023-05-05 16:10

Holy crap, I solved it first try, did not expect to see that solved message because I was just guessing on the vague clues I found. It was a wild guess, really, I found the clues to be a bit too vague. I guess there was more to the game, but the clues were pretty much the same and the solve button didn't work, so either I'm missing something or the game is unfinished. It was a great time though, wonderful atmosphere.

Huge fan of Kairo here btw, rock on!

Edit: Oh wow, I'm a dumbo, after reading the comments I went back and realized I missed one spot! Now I have beaten the game and that was a neat little twist. I can see why you decided to lock the solve button, but some kind of hint to a player that it would unlock once you find the "thing" would've prevented the confusion Wonderful stuff either way!

sunnykid 2023-05-05 22:57

Loved the art style in this game, kind of gave me some don't starve art vibes. Even in the extra category, this was a great game! Always down for a little mystery.

ardorugus 2023-05-06 05:51

It's good you delivered a different kind of game for a different kind of theme. Wait, if you deliver a game, does it count that you used the LD theme anyway?) Very cool adventure mystery, I'd learn something from you, suppose (starting right now). Keep up the best work!

tyrannas 2023-05-06 16:21

Very refreshing entry, while most of the games are arcade or classic puzzle ones, having a point and click puzzle game with history is nice ! Reminded me a lot of the case of the golden idol. Music and mood were great, graphics very original too (some Burton / Don't Starve vibe), only thing that bothered me was the fact that i wasnt clear that the riddle was in several steps, so I supposed that I had to solve the entire mystery at once (since we had also access to the girls room) and it misled me quite a lot before finding the solution to the first riddle. Anyway, very good job, I liked your game !

Loved this so much, was very inspiring to see a mystery game! And with Adventure Creator, which I'm also planning to use but haven't purchased. I really want to make a suspenseful adventure myself now haha. Thank you so much for sharing this!

Although there were many good parts, I'd say the audio really brought it together. The art was ofc also fantastic and the story was well planned out. I was maybe expecting some last puzzle with the "finish this" button, but the scene with mirrors was pretty satisfying as well. (Also, I understand that you had time limits) Great job!

kanity 2023-05-07 10:43

Oh I loved this a lot, the genre and gameplay is right up my alley and this is a kind of game I would definitely buy! The solving part was neither too hard or too easy, I would get "nearly there" and would just need to adjust something (didn't realise you can "break" a photo since I imagine it as a piece of paper that you can't really use the verb "to break" for ^^'). Loved the story too! I had a "reasonable" explanation in mind as well, but the possession ending was great and creepy!

wuppos 2023-05-08 20:59

This was really cool and completely different from anything I played in the jam so far! The first puzzle was a bit tricky to figure out, mainly because there was so much information, but I really enjoyed it nontheless. (I most confess I used the same trick others mentioned in the end. I got it almost correct and cheated a bit for the final details) The second puzzle was on the other hand on the easy side for me, maybe because I already created so many possible stories in my head during the first puzzle XD Even though it was hard, I really enjoyed playing this! Just coming up with what might have happened, and trying the deduce your way through was a lot of fun. Amazing job :D

blue-pin-studio 2023-05-09 08:24

I see people typing that there was multiple puzzles? Well i guess ill never see them! I talked to everyone and clicked on everything and can't figure out the initial puzzle :(

perrin 2023-05-09 09:36

@blue-pin-studio You may have missed the tutorial prompt at the start of the game that lets you know there's a "Solve" button on the top right that lets you solve the mystery when you are ready.

blue-pin-studio 2023-05-09 15:47

@perrin i saw, but i dont know the solution, i entered a few things but couldnt make sense of it. The closest i could make sense of the story was that she did something to someone and ran away? Not sure!

perrin 2023-05-09 19:04

@blue-pin-studio Hmmm, maybe the game isn't to your tastes. The idea is that by looking at everything and reading what everyone has to say you can deduce what happened. A spoiler but the combination of the missing photo, footprints on the sofa, glass on the broom (along with some other dialogue hints) should help you realise a photo was broken. The whole game is built around you taking in all the information and fusing it together to get the answer. It's definitely not a mechanic that everyone is going to enjoy though.

david-yates 2023-05-12 05:34

The art for this caught my eye, the description held my interest, and the realisation that it was from the person behind the white chamber made it an immediate must-play (I can't believe it's been almost 20 years since I played that game).

Very nice work! Great art, creepy music, and a simple and effective story. The mystery solving mechanic was quite clever, with enough different variations that it seemed impractical to bruteforce. I wouldn't mind seeing that in another adventure game.

One of the best games I've played in this jam so far.

konfekt 2023-05-15 21:35

Really enjoyed exploring the house and investigating. Regarding the puzzle-solving I found the first one to be a bit too much trial and error (I couldn't figure out the location) and ended up trying out every combination, whereas I got the second one correct immediately, so maybe the difficulty there could be fine-tuned a bit. As a story it's very cohesive, good job!

jordantanner 2023-05-16 01:20

This was a really fun experience. The art and animations were great. The narrative was pretty compelling and it was fun to hover over the room with the mouse to make sure I hadn't missed any clues. Sound and music were on point as well. I also can appreciate the fact that you weren't afraid to drop the theme in order to make the game you wanted, instead of leaving something in the game that felt contrived. Really solid entry and great job! One other tiny thing if one has mentioned it, there is a typo in your game's title ("Refelections") on this page.
