This is great! Good job!

pushmepullyu 2023-01-09 11:40

The music and sfx rounded up this game really well :D

antsa 2023-01-09 18:33

I was having so much fun driving around that I didn't even notice that there was a timer :D

I forgot the list of goals pretty much instantly when I started the game. Maybe they could be listed in the pause menu for example?

The post processing, music and the soundtrack really set the mood well. Also the menu definitely was realistically clunky :P

dkdwrek 2023-01-09 20:31

The effects were very cool, pretty trippy with the motion aspect to them. Very nice!

lex 2023-01-10 00:43

You got me totally hooked on this. I don't know if there was a way to do it but I missed seeing the progress of the quests/missions during the game. Pause menu would be a good place to put that.

clyde 2023-01-10 17:48

Had a lot of fun getting the different goals in the levels. The post processing effect made me a little seasick at times but I appreciate the vibe

cloughd 2023-01-11 01:47

Incredible. Nailed that classic vibe, and I love the mash of genres here. I was doing spins in the air and doing laps around maps collecting what I could. The effects and audio come together really well!

wuppos 2023-01-11 20:32

I loved that you made just driving around alone a lot of fun! With sound effects, the acceleration and the fancy jumps you could do it was a lot of fun just going around and colecting stuff. I never figured out how I should push over cows though, as driving against them did not do anything The second level was a bit frustrating to me, as I kept falling of the map. I would have loved to just respawn, instead of playing the whole level over again, but perhaps that is just me. I also could not really remember the goals I had. Perhaps a little to-do list on screen or something like that would have been helpful :P

Reallr nice submission! I enjoyed it a lot :D

@greynovembergames Thanks a lot!

@pushmepullyu Glad you liked it!

@antsa Thanks! You're right, the goals should be shown in the pause menu and when a run ends. You can see the goals which are left to do when you go back and select the same level again. I set up the whole goals UI pretty badly as it was one of those things that I realized I had to do very close to the deadline, so it isn't very modular. But I'm happy you had fun nonetheless! :)

@dkdwrek Thanks for the kind words! For the extra trippiness I abused the Temporal Antialiasing settings. When set up in the worst possible way, it gives a decent frame smearing effect :)

@lex Thank you! Yes, you're right, I should have put those goals in the pause and after-run UI, see above. Thanks for playing!

@clyde Thanks for playing! Hope the seasickness wasn't too bad!

@cloughd Thanks for playing and the kind words!

@wuppos Thanks, glad you liked it! As for the cows, well, I wanted them to fall over, but had no time to implement it. So I just used one of my existing goal systems (colliding with stuff) and said in the "goal completed" message that the cows are just too strong to fall over - but the goal is still done when the message appears ;) The player to just respawn when falling off of one of the floating islands was my initial idea, but with how I set up the player controller it wasn't as easy as I thought due to the physics of Unity being a mystery box to me...

Hey. I played your game in previous jam and again you make awesome game. Really fun gameplay and great game flow. Love this visual style and music. Btw didnt know how is it possible for Compo =D

chairshot-games 2023-01-12 05:08

First off, the graphics are absolutely stunning. The game is very fun and the music is great. Two small notes are that I wish that there was something to help me keep track of what letters I have collected, and that I wish the camera was fixed to the tractor (occasionally it would remain to high while falling and the tractor wouldn't be visible). Overall a very good game!

polynoggin 2023-01-12 23:45

Great visual style and gameplay! I love the objective based, do as much as you can in 2 minutes style of the old pro skater games so this was right up my alley. A bit more aerial control may have been nice though, especially for the second level, where falling resets progress.

antoniothereis 2023-01-12 23:59

I love the overall aesthetic that the game has, but it does make playing the actual levels hard at times. This is especially the case in level 2 where the color of the ground and the depths where u fall into are very close and I was often having trouble being sure where the edges were. A really fun game to play, and the objective system suits it really really well.

katamary 2023-01-13 16:26

Nice graphics! Funny gameplay. I really had a good time!) But I didn't catch a letter on the silo tower) However It's a nice work!

malibaturhan 2023-01-13 18:35

awesome

john-gabriel 2023-01-13 22:17

I almost can't believe you did all of this in forty-eight hours! There's an incredible amount of content here for a compo entry. That being said, I wish there had been an option to turn the screen filter off - I found it to be a bit much.

kymakesgames 2023-01-14 02:17

The world needs these kinds of jam games. As a big fan of the original THPS, great job at recreating some of the soul of that game with the music/presentation. And that CRT glare is crucial and has not gone unnoticed. My $0.02 is that the screen filter makes a jam submission like this extra jammy and I like it.

mr-lazy 2023-01-14 11:00

OMG!! your graphics specially post processing is awesome..the screenplay perfectly matched your music...i felt like playing a realtime racing game ...the camera shakes nailed it..good work..

ghostbomb 2023-01-15 13:29

Wow hot damn the music is so good. The physics are fun to play with but the timer doesn't give you much time to mess around and explore before you have to narrow in on trying to complete maybe a few objectives at most before you are booted out, so more leniency on time would be nice.

Very fun little homage.

jonqs 2023-01-18 19:00

Love the retro vibe. The time limit is a bit too short in my opinion. You catch the Tony hawk feeling really well. Congrats !

tweekstudios 2023-01-20 17:26

Holy moly, great idea! I love the name pun and logo too!

erkberg 2023-01-22 14:07

This is awesome! I love the very well realized retro-aesthetic in the visuals and audio and especially the many parallels to the Tony Hawk games. Would've been great for the goals to not just disappear but be striked through in the menu to have a better sense of achievement, as well as some more feedback for progress towards goals ingame. Also, I really wanted to do some tricks in the air and grind some rails, but that could just be because of expectations due to the similarities to THPS. And I would've liked a more forgiving time limit for a more chill and playful experience, 50% more would feel good I think. It's interesting to read that your comfort zone is the same as mine and that you also tried to leave it behind this jam. Congrats on being much more successful at this than myself! (I retreated into the zone on day two ^^)

hybitous 2023-01-25 19:07

I love the graphic style & music! The riffs complement the gameplay speed perfectly.

As others have mentioned, a way to keep track of the objectives would be helpful. Apart from the pause screen, I'd also show them on some sort of HUD, so you don't need to stop your flow to check what's left.

It would be great if I could use the right stick to control the camera. Looking sideways to check for objectives would let me keep my speed and my flow.

The game is very fun and it's impressive what you managed to do outside of your comfort zone!
