1265!

Nice little game, tge only thing bothering me is that when you go faster, it's really hard to see which arrow you have to press, I would have maybe colour coded the arrows or put them out of a circle (which make them look the same at high speed)

other than that, pretty good :D

crowbot 2023-05-01 03:39

Really nice pixel art, it has a really homey feel. Gameplay was also really fun, I had a hard time stopping. Nice work!

asasin56 2023-05-01 03:41

rythm minigame with awesome pixel art

laflaurine 2023-05-02 07:48

Such a great game for a jam, the gameplay is really fun and makes you want to beat your highscore !

scrapmetal 2023-05-02 13:24

The vibe of this is sooooo good!! The art and sound and everything is just fantastic. Really amazing.

My only bit of feedback would be if there was a way to put the arrows just above the player's head somehow and still have it read ok? I really wanted to look down there at my character and feel like I was riding the bike delivering papers etc, but instead I was looking at the sky the whole time. Anytime I wanted to take in the art, I did poorly. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: But otherwise, I really loved this one.

fargred 2023-05-02 16:52

Great game! Love the atmosphere, music, and overall relaxing vibe. PLus, just a nice combination of a classic game mechanic with the theme of the jam!

teadrinker 2023-05-03 00:46

Really love the visuals here, great job! so cosy! It's a bit sad I have to be so focused looking at the arrows! Found it a bit jarring with the pitch-up of the fx creating dissonance with the music, but yeah it's also effective to give a sense of speeding up I guess!

wuppos 2023-05-06 16:53

@castitatis Oh, really good score! Thanks a lot for playing :) I absolutely see the problem you raised, I also noticed it myself. Color coding the arrows is a very nice idea I did not think of. Thanks for the suggestion :)

@scrapmetal I never thought of that, but I think you are absolutely right. Staring at the sky all the time does not lead to the most immersive gameplay. I am not sure how to fix that though, as putting the arrows in front of the buildings indeed probably makes it too crowded. I will definitely take that bit of feedback with me for my next game, to keep immersion in mind. Thanks a lot for your nice feedback and for playing :D

@teadrinker Thanks a lot for playing! The idea of the increasing pitch was indeed to give a sense of speed-up and to increase tension, but I now also see what you mean about the dissonance of the sound effects with the music. I have a lot to learn when it comes to sound design, so that is a helpful piece of feedback. Thanks a lot! :)

Really cute and fun game highScore.png I couldn't quite get to your high score but I had a fun time trying to!

rocktavious 2023-05-06 21:22

The game is great! Great mixture of paperboy and DDR. The only thing that tripped me up is when you get going fast enough sometimes the buildings are soo close to each other and they have the same symbol they both trigger but my brain was expecting to double tap the symbol so this kept throwing me off and then i'd miss the next building and lose all my speed.

Other then that is a great winning jam entry! Congrats!

wuppos 2023-05-07 18:12

@rocktavious Thank you for playing! I see what you mean about the double trigger, it is a bit weird but I decided it was not worth the time to try and fix it :P Thank you for the feedback!

rngames 2023-05-08 00:16

✔️ Overall the game is very accessible. From the cute graphics, to the satisfying sound effects, to the simple and intuitive gameplay - well done!

✔️ Basing the game on a scoring system allows for a wide variety of challenges!

➖ Wasn't the biggest fan of the delivery sound getting higher pitched after each deliver - was a bit stressful.

⭐ Overall: Cute casual game!

krynxx 2023-05-08 14:36

Nice little game. Really like the visuals and audio. Fits well together. Was fun to play!

automatonvx 2023-05-08 23:34

Fun, all felt nicely polished, its a simple mechanic but works nicely. Sort of would have expected to be a rythm game, but still a good time even just as a reaction one. Art was all nicely done and consistent. Soundtrack was nice and fit the casual aesthetic nicely. Minor bug i guess that once you are going fast you can trigger 2 identical prompts in one key press sometimes. After a couple of plays my best score was 1234. Only critiscism, i guess, more levels or overall progression to keep up the interest after a couple of plays, but can't ask for too much in 48 hours. Great job

deformhead 2023-05-09 07:14

Good job!

Well polished: good visuals, audios, lots of details!

Excellent work!

Tried my best to beat the high scores :joy:

great visuals and music! The gameplay gets intense really quickly, had a blast with this one :) got up to 1625!

shane-gadsby 2023-05-09 10:01

Really gorgeous pixel art, perfect sfx, and a really intuitive rhythm! I must have played a least 4 rounds before I noticed that you aren't punished for wrong answers, just rewarded for right answers, so you can just press all the keys and get the right one every time, haha.

Great work overall!

saryah 2023-05-09 10:39

Such a vibe. I loved every second. Gorgeous art, great audio and fun gameplay.

indivisibleparticles 2023-05-09 10:47

Very nice compo game, simple and fun. Audio and graphics are very good.

When the game speeds up, the movement of arrows is not smooth and it is harder to see the arrows.

Overall nice game, good work!

wuppos 2023-05-09 20:11

@automatonvx Thanks a lot for playing! Your score is on the leaderboard :) I really would have liked to make a rhythm game, but I dont have any experience with that and I feel that my music would not be good enough for that, so I decided to make it just a reaction game. Maybe I will try a rhythm game in the future ^_^

@scum Oh, very impressive! Welcome to the top of the leaderboard! Lets see if anyone can beat you :D

@shane-gadsby Yeah, I realized this, but did not know what to do with it XD Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

@indivisibleparticles Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback! Indeed, when the game is fast the movement of the buildings becomes very choppy. I know what causes it, but did not have enough time to fix it unfortunately.

st00nsa 2023-05-09 22:36

1010... It's a fun little game. Love the fine-tuned color pallet for pixel art.

nuin 2023-05-09 22:57

very nice

alec 2023-05-10 00:33

really nice art and general vibes. I feel like there should have been a penalty for clicking the arrow keys when not over a house. However I had fun trying to get "in the zone" when things got fast!

arsher 2023-05-10 00:34

He-he, highscore's mine.

High.png

The game's pretty simple rhythm game, but well made and fun to play.

drtizzle 2023-05-10 06:32

This is a very nice and vibey game overall. I love the art style, very Nederlands! Too bad I'm looking at the sky constantly, I wish I could take in the surroundings more :) As others have said the graphics become very choppy/blurry when going fast, maybe putting the moving parts in the FixedUpdate or LateUpdate might help.

Overall a very cool and polished game, well done!

wuppos 2023-05-10 08:11

@arsher Haha, congrats! Welcome to the top of the leaderboard :D

@drtizzle Thank you very much for the feedback! I could indeed try to move parts to different update functions, that might help. Thanks :)

jimbly 2023-05-10 22:36

Cool game! There's some really nice graphics that I don't get to see because I'm staring so hard at the arrows =). I usually don't like rhythm-game kind of gameplay, but this felt wonderfully forgiving which made it a ton of fun. No spiral of death, just pick yourself back up and keep on biking =). Screenshot 2023-05-10 153344.png

kanity 2023-05-11 12:14

Oh this has such a nice and relaxing atmosphere, and even with "going faster" mechanic the game still feels nice and chill ^^ I love the background, the style is right up my alley. The palette is also fantastic, muted enough to create calm and quiet atmosphere, and music works really well with it. I like the mechanic with pressing arrow keys, that's really well implemented and the little icons for keys look very pretty (the whole interface is really cute). I got 1172 on my first try and 1611 on the second one ^^ It gets harder when bike goes faster and arrows start melting before my eyes :D and it seems the arrows change with every try, so that's cool! record.jpg

ogelgames 2023-05-12 12:21

Such a beautiful and polished game! Might have been nice to have a speed limit, sometimes I got going so fast I couldn't read the arrows  I did manage to get a decent score though: Capture.PNG

weirdbitgames 2023-05-12 14:56

Amazing art style, the game looks really distinct and unique. I wasn't expecting an infinite runner-style gameplay, I was happily surprised! This is really well made and right on theme too!

wuppos 2023-05-12 18:43

@jimbly I am happy to hear you liked it! Yeah, not being able to appreciate the art is a shame, but I guess it is unavoidable to some agree with this kind of gameplay :/

@kanity Thank you very much for your feedback! And thanks a lot for playing! you got a really good score :D

@ogelgames There actually is a speed limit, but it might have been too high XD Thanks for playing :)

python-b5 2023-05-14 06:22

Really fun game! Super addictive. It reminds me of rhythm games, just without the music. I found the arrows really hard to read after a certain speed (left/right and up/down got mixed up); if they were different colors maybe it would be a bit easier.

My high score: volksdam_highscore.png

bloodbane 2023-05-14 11:39

Dance Dance Delivery Revolution! Okay, joke aside, nice game! It looks like a casual and relaxing game at first until those direction keys appears.

erkberg 2023-05-29 16:53

Hey Wuppos, I didn't get around to playing your game during the jam, but definitely wanted to give it a try and just did so. It's a very good looking game with a wonderful atmosphere that I really enjoyed! The gameplay is quite simple, but like you said in your postmortem, that's something helpful to aim for in a jam, to have enough time to get all that sweet polish in, which you totally did :) The biggest issue is the cam follow: I guess the camera follows the player, because that sprite is stable, while the whole world and the arrows, which are the focus of the players eyes, are stuttering. I always forget how to do this, but there is a way in Unity to make this work without the stutter or just the player stuttering (which in this case would be acceptable). Either try moving the cam in LateUpdate or using CineMachine, and definitely not parented to the player or following its position directly, but rather moving at the same speed as the player. Still, this is a wonderful game that I really suck at :D Great job overall!

PS: Thank you so much for the nice review on Recollection <3

papaver 2023-07-07 20:58

I kept this tab open since the game looked so cute and Dutch  I finally found some time to play it!

I love the graphics! The buildings are pretty, and it all looks very pleasing to the eye, and very Dutch. :flag_nl: But I only have time to enjoy that in the beginning of the game, or when I made a mistake.

I enjoyed playing the game, and got to 1544 on my third try. The speed is so high in the end, everything just gets blurry! And at those times I would have loved if the arrows where a bit more distinguishable, in color or vertical position.

I think I would have liked that a mistake would only slow the player down a little, in stead of going back to the starting velocity.

Overall, great job!
