Nice style, rarely seen 3d + sprites.

Nice style, rarely seen 3d + sprites.
Unique style!
It's so unusual to see 3d sprites now. Great work!
nice work! love the art, especially the scarecrows!
I like the style. Also the soundtrack gives you very relaxing mood.
Graphical style reminds me "Don't starve" series but without stress :) The sprites are gorgeous. The music also fits very nicely.
very nice. I spent the whole game carefully avoiding the scarecrows, and at the end I decided to see what happens if they catch me, and - NOTHING! just like real scarecrows I guess.
The visuals are awesome, 3D sprites look really good, reminds me of Cult of the Lamb.
A few suggestions and things I would like to point out I felt when I was playing: * The scarecrows are nothing really, they don't pose a challenge as they do not try to get me nor are they faster than me, meaning I can easily enter their patrol route and get out, they just follow their path and never stray out of it to actively try and get me.
* The vegetables all value the same, it would've been really nice if say the Pumpkins were worth more food than the cabbages or corn for example. This would make me have to strategically think about going after Pumpkins that would maybe be more protected with more scarecrows around them, or going for less valuable food that would also pose less of a challenge to get. This would've made the game waaaay more enjoyable (I believe.)
Thanks for building the game!!
Stunning art - in particular I loved the design of the scarecrows. The music was adorable and super relaxed and catchy. The controls were nice and responsive, although the movement felt a big sluggish - with so much back and forth across the map, perhaps a bit more speed would have helped.
Thank you all for your kind feedback! Yes, a few things were not implemented due to the limited time: 1. Scarecrow AI. They should've chased you and got back their vegetables to put back on the rows. 2. Ability to trow a vegetable to slow down the crow.
Nonetheless I think it's kinda fitting that the scarecrow can't do any harm, he is just a SCAREcrow after all, haha. Besides I don't want the fox to get hurt.
As many of you pointed out, Don't Starve was our direct inspiration, I wanted to have a similar look and I think it turned out pretty good!
Thank you all for playing!
Very cute looking game with solid gameplay, albeit perhaps a post-ludum version with even more features is in plans? It's a relaxing experience, specially good to play on work coffee breaks and such I feel like. I love the graphics style and the overall aesthetic vibe of it. The Audio is wonderful too and also has that relaxing vibe to it, which makes the complete package a pleasant time to have.
Solid & Great work!
nice graphics and soundtrack. it makes me feel relaxed. It will be more fun if it can add more gamplay
Reminds me of Don't Starve with the camera and art effect. Good music, sound effects, and art! Good job with the game!
Such a relaxing and beautiful experience... I like the simple and cute premise! Everything is gorgeous, your 2.5D graphics are superb. Also, it was a good idea to place the burrow at the bottom left of the map as it made orientation very easy.
I spent all the game running away from the scarecrow and only realized that they couldn't hurt me when I had collected the 50 veggies. Is it wanted? Also, a cute ending screen would have been nice. Anyway, I'm bookmarking your game as one of my favorites. Great job!
One of the better looking games here, lovely hand painted graphics. Good character designs too and animations, while being very economical; work well too.
Bit grindy and slow, and I wish you could just dump everything you carry at the kids at once, without spamming space.
Very nice visuals and environment design
Beautiful art, nice music, and fun little game! I do think the goal might have been a little high and the limit on how many things you can carry made it feel a little artificially long, and I would have liked if the pumpkin guys wandering around were a little bit more dangerous, but it was still a really nice time. Great work!
Nice i like the don't starve artstyle, i think if you go straight down the character should force down though (same frame as when you are not moving), i also think the gameplay is just a bit too tidious, walking back and forth to crops and your kids gets boring pretty quick, and the enemies are too easy to avoid, i'd say harder enemies and smaller end goal would work nicer, but overall very nice job
Artstyle is really nice and I like the little bob when walking too it gives the character some nice life. The gameplay is pretty chill, I'd love to go faster or have a smaller area/less things to collect because its really slow but kinda relaxing too so its not that bad. The enemies are super scary looking too, really cool. Good job :)
@danyclockworker @monoh @magno @pedryx @owca @dicemeister @allan @alex @svenerik @huozhedexiaoc @ekoxe @fluburbio @jormarysky @gamerjenn @zacharypinkham @noeloskar @whalejam thank you all for playing and your kind feedback! I've updated the game with small balance changes based on your feedback: 1. Increased the movement speed of the fox from 3 to 4. 2. Increased the capacity of the basket from 5 to 7.
Now the game can be completed a bit faster.
About the Scarecrow, we wanted to add a mechanic of them chasing you and grabbing the veggies back but there was no time left for that. However now I think it's actually for the better, he is just a scarecrow and can't hurt you!
Our main goal was to give something relaxing, maybe even soothing to play and enjoy this little farm/garden. From your feedback I now understand that we succeeded in that regard! Thanks again for playing!
I really liked how this game felt and looked! The fake 3D look was very well done, and you made very nice use of the stretch and squash :D The gameplay was rather relaxing, which I think matched nicely with both the art and calming music. It all felt very coherent :)
As for the gameplay I felt it would have been more exciting if the pumpking monsters were a bit more scary mechanics wise (they were definitely scary enough looks wise!) I usually could walk right by them to pick up the food, which made them lose their threat a bit. Also, when I picked up a pumpkin it felt like I should have gotten more points, as it is was way bigger than for example an eggplant, but that might just be me :P
Very solid submission! Thanks a lot for making it :D
I love the illustrations as well as the music, and the perspective reminds me of "Don't Starve", which is nice; the pumpkin monsters would fit right into that game. Well done! :3
Nice work! like the graphics :)
Great work! Absolutely adored the art style and enjoyed the nice chill game. I wish the music loop was a bit longer as it got pretty repetitive before beating the game but over adored that art style and how it looked and the chill vibes.
A pleasant little base for a game! I loved the visuals and music; they contributed nicely to a cozy vibe.
I do wish that the gameplay had some other mechanics to keep the loop interesting, as it really just became a walking simulator waiting for the fox to scamper along after the first couple trips. The enemies themselves were suitably scary-looking, but bumping into them doesn't seem to do anything at all.
Would be very excited to see what this cute base could be grown into!
Wow the graphics are beautiful. Those creepy-ass scarecrows look awesome, but I was disappointed when I realized they don't do anything except move around creepily.
The gameplay was basic, but it was very relaxing to play. I don't know why, but I actually spent the time to collect all the food and beat the game. I guess the art was just so good that it kept me hooked lol.
Anyways, nice job. I enjoyed playing this!
Very very nice! I love the graphics a lot. Super cute sprites, reminds me of Don't Starve. Those scarecrows look horrifying. I kinda wished there was a dash button or something to keep me slightly more engaged. Great work!
nice illustrations, and I appreciate games that are mellow!
Great seeing a game in 2.5D. Using the adventages of graphical 2D in a 3D environment.
Beautiful art! The isometric camera angle, bright graphics, nice music, and animation all works together really nicely. I really like being able to see your inventory (including when it's full) at all times. I love the little details like the baby foxes peeking out when you get close to home. Any plans to expand on this game after the jam?
Awesome game, it's got distinct Godot feel to it, and the art is great, cute Cult of the Lamb vibes, I love the look, and the gameplay is awesome considering game jam conditions. It must have been really fun to make!
The graphics are amazing!!! And I like the music as well, even though it does get a little repetitive.
The scarecrows look great too, but am thinking that fluffy bunnies or something else might've added more to the experience - something to make the forest feel more alive and even more enjoyable to just observe! The scarecrows are somewhat in contrast to other things that are chill and relaxing and cute and calm, and I'm not sure there's anything gained from that.
Great jog, guys!
Absolutely loved the style - beautiful art and mood and I have a real soft spot for foxes! Really nice use of 2.5D artwork. Became a little repetitive as I approached 50 foods, but had a lot of fun playing through and really enjoyed the experience. Nice work :)
What a charming little game! I loved the atmosphere. It's my kind of gameplay. I find some similarities with our proposal, especially on the graphic atmosphere. Nice job!
This game looks really cool, and I can’t wait to play it when I’m home from work :D
Really really awesome graphics! Well done. Only flaw is that it's unclear what the scarecrows supposed to do. I'm assuming if you get close enough player loses the game but still, could be interesting if they chased the player. Nice work!
Great artwork very cute and charming. The only real criticism is the music gets a little repetitive. Great entry regardless though.
Very short and sweet game! The artwork was really well drawn, too! Fantastic job there.
A few things I would recommend: * I liked that there was an audio feedback for picking up and depositing vegetables. I think you could have added some sort of negative sound when the player tried to pick up more vegetables than they could carry. Also, I think you should have disabled the sound when trying to deposit nothing to the den. Tying player actions to clear indicators is a very basic way to build feedback into your game! * The music was very well done, but I don't know if it fit the theme of the game. At first, I thought it was just a fun gathering game. When I saw monsters roaming the fields, I felt like the music could have matched that mood more. It should have made me feel more distressed or worried for my kits! * I felt a little silly avoiding those monster _so carefully_ the entire playthrough .. only to try again and realize there was no penalty for touching them! haha
Thanks for sharing your game!

Really nice art great job
Gameplay was a little simple for me, would have liked to see some challenge or puzzles.
Well done on submitting! image_2023-01-14_181402474.png
I'm surprised how much the art carried this game. The fox puppies made me want to win; the spooky scarecrows made me want to flee. It took me until the end to realize the scarecrows were all bark and no bite. Something that comes to mind, that hasn't been pointed-out already; when a scarecrow got close to the burrow, I got scared for the puppies. Might be a fun mechanic to keep the puppies safe.
