Fun game, quite unique. Feels really polished as well
There seems to be a bug however with the spawning of the number of people to save. Every now and then not enough people spawn compared to how many you are supposed to save. It will say for example save 8 people, but only spawn 6. Then I get them all and can't finish the level.

It's very hard to both save the civilians and make money, the crumbling floors are very unforgiving. And probably it's ok this way. The game shows potential.

fun fast paced game. pretty hard in terms of getting instakilled by rocks plus the gas. I couldn't tell if my helmet did anything. cool graphics especially the screen scroll and shake were really good.
Great game and innovative. Keep up the great work.
@robert18 - Thank you! Ye sorry about that, I had like 30 min to actually test the whole game and started noticing it as-well, I added a super disgusting check after to remove civilians that were places out of bounds..but yeah LD code is LD code.

Simple, but fun! The building collapsing certainly fits the theme and gives a nice challenge for the player -- to focus while everything is falling apart around them. The bug where people don't appear is a little frustrating though. And I feel like even some simple sound effects would make the feel of the game a lot more impactful. But, still, good job on the entry!

This was a nice game. It fit the theme really well, and the rogue lite aspect could have been super nice. However, (idk if this was a bug) but my upgrades didn't save between rounds... and that was super frustrating. I wanted to feel a sense of progression from collecting the scraps, but then I didn't. Also, this has already been mentioned, but sounds would have been great, especially in a game like this. But yeah, solid base for a game. I'd like to see this expanded upon.
@rubr - Thank you! I agree with you about the sfx I really wanted to add something to the game and just ran out of time completely. I've fixed the people generation bug (hopefully) :)
@mateu - Thanks! Oh jeez you are right about the upgrades, they don't visually upgrade the bar but they are indeed active, I've fixed both of those bugs, thanks!
Hey, nice take on the theme! I enjoyed the simple mechanics and upgrade system. Some sound would have been nice though. Great work overall.

I think it's an innovative idea to take advantage of the grids above! That's a great idea! And I really love how the hero carries the civilians. If you can polish the audio above it, I think it would give a better mood.
Really fun! I like all the systems that are at play here. The sense of chaos as the building really starts to break down is really fun and creates a great dramatic arc to each level. I think one thing that you could improve was the indication that your gas was about to run out, maybe flash the screen red or play audio or something. Really great submission!
Very fun//well made game! My one gripe is that with scraps being currency, it almost makes it so you have to just farm on the first level and take like 5 minutes to destroy everything and collect all of the scraps

Cool concept, fits the theme really well. I like the strategy of having to balance when to exit the level or if you should greed it out and collect as much scrap as possible.

This was a very fun, challenging and addictive game. It fits the theme very well! I had so much trouble understanding when blocks were going to fall and collecting scrap along with saving civilians was a fun and interesting challenge. This was great, thank you and congrats on this submission.

I think the idea of saving people from an unstable building is great! It perfectly fits the theme and is a great concept for a game. I also think it was really well executed! I was really thinking about which blocks I could break that would cause the least collapse, but a the the same time I was under some time pressure because the building could collapse on the civilains any moment. Really cool!
I also really liked how there was the conflicting interests of getting out safely with the civilians, or risking your run to get a few extra scrap. Although I have no idea how this would work in real life, it worked really well as a game mechanic XD
Very well done! I definitely think this could be a really fun full game if you decide to update it. Adding a lot more game feel, like sound effects, animations (like a death animation, so that it is a bit clearer what killed you/killed a civilian) and of course some tense music would really help a lot I think. Great game! Very well done :D

@daniel-spruill - Thanks! Ye I wanted to minimize the scrap farming by using the smoke as the mechanic that stops you from doing so, I think I should've eventually collapsed the floor as well so you can't just stay in one level and farm scrap.

@wuppos - Thank you! Ye the scrap mechanic is really weird, I wanted to add some progression feeling to the game and came up with that, makes no sense but it somehow worked haha. If it turns out to be a full game I'll 100% invest in a lot of game feel. :)
Great game, very polished, some nice ideas. I particularly liked chancing it through the falling debris to grab scrap.
Definitely one of the best games I've reviewed so far.
Suggestions would be - some sort of tutorial or explanation of how the gas mask/ helmet works and maybe pointing out that the scrap falls out of rocks; I missed it on my first couple of goes.

Woah this is great, very original concept, I love how you dig your own grave when the chain reaction starts, very interesting desing, art is also pretty neat. I'd love to see a version with sound and music, nice job!! Congrats on making this game!
Nice concept, easy to understand, visually looks great, nice and fast paced. As a game jam game, though, I didn't really have patience to play through all of those levels... I'd suggest making something a little shorter for this kind of context (I know, strange criticism). It also wasn't obvious that I needed to collect those things on the ground for the upgrades, so maybe that should have been made more apparent.

Gameplay-wise, this is my favorite entry so far. I really loved it! I do think the upgrades should maybe be a bit more effective - I didn't notice much change once i fully upgraded my gas mask. Also, it was heartbreaking to get a game over with a single civilian death, especially for such a long game. All that being said, i think the core mechanic is EXCELLENT. Loved the caving-in, loved the rush of it. Really well done.

@doomshmuck - Thank you! Absolutely not a weird criticism at all and a very good one. I originally wanted to lower it to 10 or 12 but it felt very short considering every level could be completed very fast. I agree tho the permadeath and the longer levels further on can create a very daunting feeling having to play it all over because of just one small mistake. I agree with you this game shouldn't have been this long for what it offers in it's current state. And yeah I should've done a better job explaining the source of the scrap.
@pbg - Thank you very much! I fully agree, the effect should've been stronger and more impactful, time was just limiting how much of a full playthrough I could do to polish up the effect of each upgrade and the overall balance of the game. Thanks for the nice comments :)

Super fun game, took me a while to understand how to find scraps, highly addictive
Really nice game, mechanics are solid and it nails the theme. The only thing missing really is sound FX and music but time restraints be like that sometimes. Great entry!
