Oh my god this game was so addictive! I'm not going to lie, I'm probably going to come back to this one later to see how far I can get into it! It was insanely difficult, but honestly those are the types of games I enjoy the most, so for me anyways, I loved it a lot!
-Mom, can you get me Armored Core? -We have Armored Core at home The Armored Core at home:
Very fun and challenging entry! Will be coming back to it later for more. I run into some bugs on the main menu: 1. When I started the game, if I didn't right away ran into the Game Start portal the game would close and open again, as if some loop for the entire thing was running. 2. After dying, I went back to the menu and couldn't move.
@spike-studio thanks, we tried our best!
@borderdestroyer thanks!
@holysparks Now we are game jam buddies
I really liked the shooting and the mechanic with exploding grenades. It's a pity that there is no variety in weapons, or any grenades. Overall very good.
Was pretty fun. Definitely limited space. I think it would be nice to indicate when a mushroom has entered it's "I am dead / about to explode" state. Especially when I hit them with bullets I want them to turn dark or something, or start flashing. Then I know I defeated them and can stop shooting at them.
Thanks for letting me play this on stream, it was awesome!
Here's the VOD with Timestamps so you can click to your game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NVsG7UOyfw
Great visuals and sound, nice varied enemies. The stages were a bit too long and difficult, made it to the 3rd? level with the spinning laser tower. Character controls were solid and responsive in terms of the sliding/shooting mechanics. Great job & well done.
The game is really fun, even though I certainly could not get past the later stages. At some point, there was just too much for me going on there :D I think I encountered some bugs with the firing mechanic, one time I could not shoot anymore after I dashed, I had to click multiple times to be able to shoot again. Another time, I just started continuously firing after dashing and did not have to click or hold the mouse button down anymore. What I really liked though was your main menu, I loved the idea of starting your game like this and immediately had to try the "Flee"-option - which did exactly what I hoped it would! Great work :)
Wow! That's nice game! Sound is really good, gameplay is fun
I found you much faster than I expected. The sound is great, the humor is good, the controls are excellent and the graphics are on top. Even after five attempts, I could not pass the stage with moving lasers. If you click on the QUIT after losing, the control fails and you have to use Alt + F4. The game is above all praise. I didn't expect anything else from my teachers.
Cool game. I got a little bit thrown off when I heard the part from running in the 90s in the background. I got stuck after returning to the main menu and couldn't move, but except that, the experience was quite solid
Hey there, played "Private 621" and I'm truly impressed! Love the unique urgency of being the 621st toy. Gameplay's smooth with minor hiccups, but overall a solid experience. The weapon variety kept things exciting. For a jam game, it's a standout. Can't wait to see more from you!
@tentacledream thank you for playing, we planned to add the second weapon, but didn't have time to implement
@mortusnegati thanks for feedback, I completely forgot about mushrooms while worked on the visual pass -_- Will fix it in a post jam version
@krassenstein thank you for playing and stream
@merdeboi thanks, we will improve balance in a post jam version
@philocode thank you! You caught quite a strange bug
@leiggarfeed thank you
@fatemperor thanks for searching!
@dock-frankenstein thanks for playing, this bug will be fixed in a post jam version
@pabloabraham thank you!
@dock-frankenstein Everything is actually more complicated. Specifically in this sequence, this sample was used in many Eurobeat songs, not only in "Running in the 90s". For example, it can also be heard in Domino's "Tora Tora Tora!". :)
In generally, this sound is from LA Style's "James Brown is Dead" (from where it dispersed to other melodies), where it itself was sampled from an old Electric Light Orchestra melody. It just so happens that I'm a big fan of Eurobeat, Belgian Techno and Hyper Techno at the same time, where this sound was used a lot, so I just decided to bring a little element of them into the melody. The choir sample, by the way, also refers to “James Brown is Dead” and is also a marker for Belgian techno and Hyper Techno, but this is actually a basic preset from the Roland W-30 sampler.
For some mistake unknown to me, the build unfortunately included the Saturday demo of the track, not the final version by almost 4 minutes. =( This will be fixed in the post-jam version + I will also post it separately on services in the next few days.
Fun game, controls are very responsive and visual effects look very cool, enemy variety is very impressive! I'd add lots of feedback just as polish phase.
This was pretty fun, and got better when I remembered about the dash :P I was a bit confused about the first level ending in a checkpoint, then the second level just going on and on with no checkpoints. I kept getting killed by the mushrooms cause I couldn't tell when they would explode or the range of the explosion.
@juanrod707 thank you
@chybby thanks
pretty fun gameplay, yes. and overall it's a good ja, game
Stupid action game, way I like it. And this one is tight to play.
Only tried jam version so far. Nothing else to criticize than could have some damage flash and some death animations are too long/not dramatic enough, so I keep shooting dead enemies. That and some juicing and it is fun little time waster
Cool game! I like the concept of playing as a little toy soldier, its a fun concept
@usagitsukino thank you for playing!
@jormarysky thanks
@camden-obertop thanks for playing!
A solid entry! I love the gameplay, it's a bit tough but fun. Also the art of the toys is very nice, it makes each of them lovely (tho I died several times being attacked by them :(
@jamesw this is war private, not a playground!
Love the range of enemies you guys were able to make in such short time. Very fun!
Very fun and polished game! I got to the 4th level) I love enemy and obstacles variety, music and audio design (dunno if this intentional, but shooting sounds match the music really well!) Impressive work for such little time, thanks for the game! :)
very nice!
tight gameplay, balancing, enemy variety
I ain't big on bullet hells personally but that kept me entertained for a while
maybe it could have been interesting to break down level 2 into more sublevels because a lot happens in there
but it feels like there's all the elements for real diehards of the genre to find their flow
well done, looking forward to the next one in April :grinning: :sparkles:
wow I expected a lot but I didn't expect a ride like this. the game really started to test my reflexes and thus remained fun and action-packed. great music and nice graphics...
interesting choice of enemies
great entry
It reminds me the Unity shooter tuto, but the game is fun though :thumbsup:
