When you die the game kind of freezes. Could you add some way to restart the level or the game?

Press R when you're dead to respawn :)
This game is awesome! The graphics are great, there's actually a decent amount of content, and the weapons feel so satisfying to use, even when they are just your kicks and punches! The music and audio are great too! At first I also got confused about how you respawn, but as soon as I checked out the instructions again things went great! The only problem I found was that some of the doors kind of vibrate, but it didn't affect the gameplay whatsoever. Overall this game is amazing, well done! It definitely has to be one of my favorite games of Ludum Dare 47 so far.
I enjoy everything about this game: menu, storytelling, shaking, controls, graphics and sounds. It's a really good game, but i have some troubles with killing enemies, but i think that i just didn't understand it at all You should be proud of your game)
We highly recommend to play tutorial if you start our game! Cause basically the tutorial level gives you all information you need to know! Except that you have to press R to restart)
This is very well done! I really like the restart mechanic and the overall style. Also, great that you included a tutorial!
That was super fun! The only real complaint I have is that dying every 60s is frustrating  Congrats!
This a very well made little top-down shooter.
really well done game. had trouble grasping the concept before I read the comments, only criticism i have is that the most important gameplay mechanic, the respawn, isnt communicated well in the game. but the second I understood that pressing r respawns you it became an amazing game. really great job. love the graphics, love the combat etc.
Really cool graphics! There's so much content, it's really impressive for a jam! I'm not fully on board with the game feel though, felt slightly sluggish to me, but probably a matter of preference on that side. Some affordance on save points and a prompt to respawn in-game would have been nice, but limited time I'm sure! Either way still an amazing amount of work put in, well done!
This game was fun! I liked it a lot overall and the tutorial is a nice touch to get confortable with the controls and gameplay. One issue, for me, is that the game window doesn't scale with screen resolution (I think), so it was really small on my screen... I don't know if the window size was an intentional choice, but it made the game very hard to play when I was trying to advance!
everything in this game (except the doors) are great!
The amount of content is very impressive and the graphics look amazing! The gameplay itself is very solid with only a few hickups every now and then. Personally I like the gameplay so much that I did not really like the 60 second life thing, but I understand that you had to implement the theme somehow. Another thing that stands out are the sounds that notify me of my actions, which is great. I missed a sound when I wanted to save my body, so I kinda didn't understand it at first. I would also make respawns instant or perform them automatically after a few seconds. I don't mention these things because I like to nitpick, but because I honestly think you have diamand in your hand that you just need to polish a bit more. Well done and best of luck in this jam!
The game is very fun to play. It reminds me of Hotline Miami which is also an awesome game. Only you can hit (punch/kick) or be hit through walls if you are close enough, guess it is a bug. Overall, great job! I finished the game and may even play it again!
Good job guys. Nice game
cool concept, impressive for three days!
Nice game and cool art style! I just wish there was more to the countdown mechanic, it seems it was just a forced teleport with no consequences other than to backtrack and the game would be more fun without it. If for instance you would have to reach a save point before it runs out you would have to play with it in mind. I really enjoyed playing it though.
Holy cow, that was good. I could have sworn I was playing Hotline Miami it was that good! This is one I'm going to come back to and play again I think as I didn't manage to complete it this time around. How did you do this in 3 days? Insane
Hey @djayne, thanks a lot for your feedback! I'm happy you enjoyed) Thanks to my awesome team
I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection
I liked the game a lot, good job! However, the camera rotation everytime you change direction made me feel a bit drunk haha
Awesome job! Great mechanic and suits the theme well.
It's a strong submission with fine art, music and Hotline vibes, but it's in space. Nice work!
Yeah, you nailed the HM feel!
Thank you for including a MacOS build! Fun little game.
Cool Hotline Miami like! I do wish the controls were more tight, and that the respawn timer was faster, I kept dying a lot and had to wait a ton
Graphics were amazing. Gameplay was fun. Audio was nice (Music was a little bit repetitive but was cool). Good work!
You nailed it man. Plays great. Visuals are awesome. Nice work.
This was super fun to play. The controls felt smooth and the art style was really well done. Great entry!
I love Hotline Miami and so I loved this game. Waiting for full release.
Very hotline miami, in a good way! I enjoyed this take on it, and it was fun to progress life-by-life. For the small time of this jam, its impressive that you got a game like this together, and it works very well.
I don't even have to say anything, the comments have said it all, great work they've done here. Congratulations!
HM style - it's very cool
very nice game, the graphics were incredible. only bad point is some hitbox jank but its a detail compared to the rest of it. good job
Hi all right, I really liked your game and I'm going to make some comments, you need a fullscreen button, in story mode if I don't want to use the skip it should end on my own, because the person is in doubt if he will be skipping something important in the story or is it a bug, when the time is up it is important to send a message to the player to do the action, some doors have an instability and shake constantly and the enemies even when they kill you keep attacking you, I really like your style even with some things to polish, nothing that spoils the pleasure of knowing and playing your game, I am accompanying some developers that I met here and I will also follow you on the itch to know the evolution of your project, congratulations again for your game, a big hug.
as everyone else has said, a fun shooter with cool graphics and wacky doors.
i think the life timer mechanic doesn't fit particularly well with the way the game currently plays; just halting the game while you walk back to where you were.
I do think it has some potential though as on occasion it can have you gunning for the next respawn point, which shakes things up a little. I imagine it'd be hard to not make frustrating, but more expansion into the mechanic could push it more towards that frantic hotline miami fun.
great work to everyone on the team!
@etrealjunior and @mr-field thanks a lot for your awesome detailed feedback! Appreciate it a lot!
Hello there!
Feel free to ignore most of the things I point out due to jam scope, etc, but I’m giving feedback assumming you would keep working in the game. The rating I gave was with the jam context in mind though.
What I think could be improved:
The save stations NEEEEEED a confirmation sound, there were quite a few times I tought I had saved on a plataform only to die and respawn way back I also missed a button to kill myself. There were times I had to wait for my timer to run out because I would not have enough time to enter a new room Sometimes the furniture would stand in the way, maybe let us break the stuff for even more chaos! The key cards were a little hard to see, it would be cool to have an arrow pointing at them while they are on the screen or something
What I loved:
Daaaayum the game is almost feature complete! A few more levels and it would be near shipping status, fantastic job! The Hotline Miami style blended perfectly with the sci fi vibe The level you guys made was pretty good, great design!
If my comment was helpful, don’t forget to like it! … and if you can, open my profile page and leave feedback on our game as well <3
Thanks for the experience you provided with your game!
Hey @wicked thanks a lot for your feedback! I agree with a lot of things you said, but damn didn't have much time to fix and tweak all stuff. So yea, def gonna check your game as well)
bit of a hotline-miami-like - i struggled with my poor ol azerty keyboard - i died next to the door at the bottom and i dinn respawn - i was surprised by that
Heya! Thanks for submitting your game to my stream at [twitch.tv/drjavasaurus](wwww.twitch.tv/drjavasaurus) ! I had a lot of fun playing your entry. This... is... fun ! DIE TOILET ZOMBIE, by means of a good old fashioned chainsawing ! Well done, the respawn mechanic is neat, it's fun to have a game where playing risky has little consequences. It even adds an element of strategy as you need to pick where you'll respawn to keep your weapons closeby. I liked it, well done ! Thank you !
I'm not going to leave a negative score, but it really rubs me the wrong way that the game doesn't at any point tell you that you have to manually respawn with R. I honestly thought the game glitched and froze when I died. Could you at least have included a "PRESS R TO RESPAWN" prompt? Also, there should be some visual indicator when you activate the save points.
@javasaurus man, thanks a lot for playing our game! it was so funny to watch you playing and reacting to what happens, this gave me a lot of good emotions, I was so excited for this! Glad you enjoyed.
@ryusui I absolutely agree with you, "PRESS R" is something really important I missed, and spawn indication too, I just forgot to add them, but I'm not going to add them since the jam has already ended and I was making this game as a part of competition to have fun, so my opinion is that EVERYTHING in the game should have been made in limited time and not changed later, because you could always make super polished game just if you want, and LD was something that limits this, that's why I love it) so yea sorry, my mistake should live there.
A lot of blood was shed! Fun entry to say the least. As mentioned previously, mentioning how to respawn in game would be a welcome improvement.
Wow what a great jam game, so much content and polish to it. I really enjoyed this, thought it was a lot of fun. I think movement could be improved to feel better, the acceleration felt off somehow so I kept bumping into objects. Some more audio feedback would be useful, such as when you save your body or run low on ammo. I thought the use of theme was very clever. Dying every 60 seconds didn't bother me, it was a clever tension to be careful of your progress and deciding when to bank your upgrades. The save stations were possibly too common, so I could constantly save after every fight. Spreading them out more would've created some interesting strategic decisions of pushing forward to save or being cautious and backing up. The level design was excellent too, especially after keycard 3. Really good crescendo of enemies and firepower. Only wish there was a big boss battle at the end, but I understand the time constraints.
Overall an excellent entry and super fun experience.
Guys sorry, but you can always read the comments to understand that you can respawn with R, and R is actually a key that is usually used to respawn, we couldnt add this notification because we really ran of time @oune @strangeryann
Nice, a classical top-down shooter with a little twist. It was nicely polished, although it's really hard to actually shoot the enemies. Some indication that the player saved a checkpoint would be nice. I got lost after a while.
Oh, and the ***music is awesome***, I loove it :3
@fronwewq thanks a lot man! Happy you enjoyed, we actually were developing boss fight but then we decided to focus on polishing and finishing everything)
@suchista greetings to our great composer @alexzh!
