Really gloomy and dark mood here ! Very well done ! I'm... Well.. A weakling in front of this kind of ambiance, and I can just say it worked well on me, now I'm scared to retry. Great job !

Visuals and mood are top notch!
I love the art and spookiness! It looks great, but I had some difficulty navigating and figuring out how to progress. Would love to see a polished version!
Art is lovely! Congratz for your first jam!!
Great job on the atmosphere! Very creepy. I wasn't entirely sure of the goal or where the theme was implemented but maybe I didn't play long enough :)
Wow, the graphics were fantastic and the audio was great, but headphone warning. I didn't get far, and these style of game isn't really my thing, but well done!
Very creepy and atmospheric! Cool art and vibe game! Excellent job!
This game has a mood, I was even scared when tried to lure the girl out of the dark room with a bear and ran into this strange creature. Nice game!
Wow, I love the art and mood here! The creepy tone of the game is really well done- I jumped when I first saw the little girl approaching before I realized she wasn't going to hurt me. It's fun exploring the manor and trying to solve the puzzles, though I do feel like it was difficult to tell what would hurt you or not sometimes without trial and error. I overally really enjoyed this though, awesome work!
ok great i can't sleep now the atmosphere is really well done. the proof that you don't need 3D hyper realistic monsters to be frightening!
nope nope nope nope nope. very good but i am not walking down that hallway very memoriable.
Mood of the game is very good. Especially sound effects make it so good. Also combination of 2D Charactes and 3D environment like that is very creative. I think there is big field for different mechanics.
I love the art!! mood was too good too. I generally liked the game
Congrats on your first jam game. Love the mood and atmosphere. Did not expect the little girl to be friendly. Nice game.
You have to add some kind of tutorial. For the most part I didn't know what I was doing. Great visuals and SFX
@alaah Thanks for the feedback!
Does reading the Controls and Objective sections on this page help?
What specifically was confusing or would benefit from being explained by a tutorial?
oooo i loved the character art and the sound design especially. great mood setting!!
It was really creepy and the sprites look very good. The sound effects were nice too. Just the gameplay was very disorienting and confusing partly because the level looks so dark and the camera is so close. I tried it several times but didnt get anywhere - maybe you can hint on what to do?
@willoxs Thanks for playing, we appreciate the the feedback!
I agree, we could definitely do a better job of guiding the player. As a puzzle/mystery game we weren't sure how much to do though as helping the player too much would get rid of the challenge. Maybe if we helped introduce the player to the first puzzle and how to solve it, that would be enough to get the ball rolling?
As far as lighting, was the whole game too dark for you, or just certain areas? We tried to use lighting to guide the player toward their first objective, but it sounds like that may not have worked as well as we had hoped!
The darkness problem might just be a problem with my monitor as i struggled with some other rather dark entries as well. Couldnt play during day for example.
But yeah i just saw locked doors and was pretty stuck. Id love to try it again if you want to spoil how to start! I havent rated yet as i thought i havent given the game a fair chance at gameplay.
@willoxs The game is overall pretty puzzle-y, but I am happy to give a hint to get you started! For the first door you encounter with 3 buttons, there is a hint for how to open it down the right hallway on the wall. All of the puzzle doors have hints somewhere in the level, and one of the items you find will lead you to those hints if you are having a tough time finding them. ;)
Hey so i tried it again and now i realized that you need to use the mouse xD
It is still to confusing to me to actually know what im doing but i got a ring and an axe. Then i died to rats which are impossible to avoid when they are in front of you (as the camera doesnt show them). I think im just not made for the game as -again- i just couldnt see much (im sorry).
But here are the things that are not influenced by how much i suck at puzzles and my monitor:
(-) - camera: its just not really made for any other direction than moving forward - level layout: the rooms mostly look the same and its hard to recognize anything - control scheme: should be a bit better communicated that you need the mouse and what the numbers in the interface are - theme: i dont think i saw it used anywhere.
(+) + graphics: the opening scene looks a bit eclectic but somehow endearingly creepy. the rest of the game looks really spooky as well + sounddesign: the heartbeat rhythm that gets faster when Moirah is near is really a great touch to add horror and well needed player feedback + mood/suspense: once the camera cuts to Moirah slowly creeping towards you you are hooked and on the edge of your seat. Sure i dont know how the ai works and if she is really going to A*-pathfind her way to me but it sure FEELS like it xD
So this is a pretty ambitous game (considering its your first) and for that it has its faults. But its pretty obvious that you focused on the general mood (and probably puzzle design) and that it does really well. Anyway good job and i hope we see you around next time!
The audio and visual mood at the start is great.
A couple of times you see a 2D image from the side which is really jarring. It happened to me when interacting with the first door and when I saw the ring spinning. If using 2D art like this, I think keep it facing the camera.
I had a really hard time navigating the building. Doors on side walls are hard to see, and in the dark even the walls are hard to see.
Is the idea of the theme that I can only use the light-ring after a 10 second cooldown? If so, this was kind of annoying, because it meant I either keep bumping into spiderwebs and rats in the dark, or I keep going afk for 10 seconds while I wait for the cooldown.
I opened the first door which has three buttons via trial and error. I wandered in the dark for a while and found another door with 5 colored buttons but couldn't figure it out and didn't see any clues nearby, and I eventually died from bumping into rats too many times.
I tried again and found some paths to the right that I had totally missed including the numbers for the first door, some math equations with no context of where to use them, and the second item whose purpose I have yet to discover.
There are probably some other paths available to me but I got lost in the dark.
Given how large the building is, a map of where you have been might be helpful, or even just try having fewer paths and smaller rooms. You could also try to change the layout so that doors always go up and down, instead of left and right.
What a very very cool game! I really enjoyed this because I love the survival horror genre. The art and audio really really sold the spookiness and built up a great mood. I think the biggest problem with this was the jankiness of the programming and a few game design elements. I experienced quite a few bugs during my playthrough like not being able to pick up the ring. I had to restart the whole game to pick it up. The walls popping in and out really broke immersion for me. It also got a bit too dark in some areas that I had no idea where I was going. I think if it wasn't for those things, I would be rating this as one of the top entries for the game jam. I really really enjoyed this and would love to see a more polished version of it. The character designs were amazing! Thank you for making this game!
@jag Glad you enjoyed the game! We really appreciate the feedback! Which version were you playing WebGL, Windows or OSX?
I know the WebGL version had weird issues for some people on different browsers that the Windows and OSX versions didn't have.
Really, awesome graphics and sound effects. The game atmosphere is cool, i like it. Thank you for lovely submition!
Very interesting, atmospheric game with tons of potential! And it was awesome welcoming you to the stream today! Here’s the VOD if you want to check that out again: https://youtu.be/JWDRP3KwO-E
I love the spooky atmosphere and art style!
