i really like the idea! :)
aah nice. pressing enter for me in itch didn't start the game - I had to open the frame in its own window before it would start (safari 10.1.1 on macOS 10.12.5 here)
I wish it said "throttle up" rather than "throttle forward" - because pressing up to move something forward is a bit confusing :P
my favourite game so far! great work!
@increpare: Hmm that's unfortunate! Did you try clicking the window to ensure that it had focus? Thanks for playing and your efforts to get it working!
@supremefist Yes I did, but it didn't help. Works on on chrome.
(edit: having now played 20 games, yours is still my favourite :) )
Thanks, @increpare! Yours is my favorite so far, too!
Very fun! Now I want more. Good work, supremefist!
This game is as good as its simplicity. Great fun while playing it. 😀👍
Nice game, simple but with some difficulty. It was a little confusing at first, but after a couple of re-tries I was able to get it. It's nice that you had the "bridge out" forcing players to make a decision of when to build up steam and when to go full throttle. It was a nice touch at the end when you had to stop as well. Caught me off guard and ran right off the cliff. Great game!
Nice idea, quite chaotic, was a little difficult to figure out how to manage the coal and what effect it was actually having. Oh and that bloody big hill :s
Nice take on the theme, and it took me a couple of tries to get familiar with the control mechanics, which is always a good thing to have a bit of a learning curve imo
Thanks @5cents and @SelfTitled! I admit it seemed more obvious in my head before I started making the game, but I'm really glad you guys figured it out! Great feedback!
Really good simulation game. That big hill gave me real hard time!
I DID IT!!! haha I was soooo confused at first, thinking the other station was the building before where the bridge was out. But eventually I just tried to go as far as I could, which of course meant tackling that damn hill, I heard "I think I can I think I can" in my head haha, then finally saw it! Thanks for the tip about the brakes as well. :) I wonder, is it even possible to not run out of coal by the end? I barely made it. As far as feedback: MORE LEVELS! haha
Thanks, @ModalModule! Haha! I was planning on a lot of levels and more things to make it interesting, but you know how it goes :) time was tight! Sounds like you had the exact experience I intended, though! :)
Very enjoyable, good job! The first time I tried the big hill I got to within about 10 pixels of the top but rolled all the way back down, however having run our of fuel & steam there didn't seem to be a way to restart the game? (I didn't remember escape goes to the menu, perhaps I should have done that). Anyway, I reloaded the page but now I cannot start the game at all!? Still, great stuff; very enjoyable :)
@cakemonitor Thanks for playing! Yes, indeed, the idea is that going back to the main menu is as good as restarting, but you have the added bonus of optionally reading the instructions again. Don't worry, you were pretty close to the end :) Thanks again!
That's what a good Ludum Dare entry is ! Simple concept not too hard to figure out how it's works (even if the first time I was a little lost, it's relatively fast to understand what are the actions->consequences relations on differents gauges imo), one good level to explore the idea the game purpose, and a nice visual and sound design for complete it. There is even an in game tutorial and no bugs, nothing that get you out of the game when you're in. That's really neat, I've really enjoy it, it's a little hard but not frustrating (even if I fall after the last cliff, but that's because I didn't read the text under the game before play it, I'm the worst :> ) and the cute music add a lot to the game. Good job mate !
Thanks @Olowynd for your amazing feedback! You really seem to understand what I was going for! :) I appreciate it a lot! I wanted to do so much more, but sometimes you have to make some sacrifices to round out the experience... I spent too much time fiddling around with the physics hehe
Very simple controls and lots of fun, for a moment I thought that I wasn't going to finish it but I managed to get to the end, with zero of everything, but it's something! xD
Nice little game :) Very original! Well done :)
That was a really fun, short experience and nice use of the theme!
Thanks all!
Very simple controls but work well. The last hill was difficult to pass but I did it! I didn't know train could jump over cliff  Nice game! Congrats!
I loved this. Great feeling when you figure out how to make the first jump. Is there a way to get more coal?? Or to see the score on how far you got? Nice work!!!
I really liked this! It was fun. Jumping the steam engine was a surprise that made me laugh.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very unique idea and good execution. Took me a minute to get used to what the meters mean which is unique for a ludum dare - where the game mechanics are complicated enough that it actually takes time to learn. My only real criticism is the train noise which is very grating. I ended up muting the tab to play the game. Fun game!
Fun game! The music's nice too, although the train's noise a bit loud and annoying. Good mechanics! (no pun intended, but :))
Thanks for the feedback @pixlark and @Elgregos! Sound could definitely be softer, my apologies :)
Pretty damn cool game! It took me quite a while to get the mechanics, but once I did, it was really fun. Visuals and audio are also very nice. I managed to get to the end by the 5th or so try, but with 0% cargo remaining. :) I kinda thought that the big buildings along the way would let you get new coal, but I think they didn't or maybe I did not get how to do it. Anyway, really enjoyed this one, good job!
