Excellent implementation. Juggling weapons to shoot diagonally is fun and very "stable". The weapon which shoots into two directions feels a bit overpowered due to being more flexible, but it was still challenging.

I like the idea. It is pretty hard esspecially when all you get is a gun shooting to a single side. A really nice challenge. Not too complex easy to pick up but hard to master. Excelent. Edit: Forgot to mention i really like the pixel art style of it.
This is really clever! It's a lot of fun, doing small movements to get angled shots in is a ton of fun. Sometimes getting stuck with no guns facing the direction you want can be a bit frustrating. Maybe just letting the player have a bit more ability to avoid with a jump would help a lot. They would still get overwhelmed by multiple attackers even with a jump, but it would let them get out of simple hairy situations early on... just a thought!
Really awesome work!
Oh man I love this idea, one of my favorites I've played so far. I felt super cool when I wobbled the turret just right to take out a monster. The art is also top notch. My one complaint is that it the turrets were a little too wobble, to the point I couldn't really move without immediately loosing them all
Wow, what a cool concept for a game! The art is pretty stellar and although it's simple, I didn't notice any major issues during the gameplay. Was very fun to play in early rounds. I will say, though, that trying to stack multiple, or even one, turret was incredibly difficult since they fell off anytime you moved. Maybe having it be less wobbly (but still unstable, of course) would prolong gameplay. Keep it up!
Really tricky to keep the cannons from sliding off with even a couple clicks. Animations were great and idea was fantastic.
This was really fun. Super difficult but fun! The art style really worked well for the game. Do wish there was some sounds though
Amazing idea with main mechanic!
Very creative game!
I just feel like the guns drift too much making it hard to keep them from falling.
Yeah i have to agree with the other comments. The idea is great and so well executed. There is not much bad to say aside the obvious lack of audio which sadly hurts the overall score.
Great consistency in the resolution. Even the rotating pieces respect the underlying pixel grid. I see a lot of pixel art games (my own included) go for the easy solution to do a 'fake' grid with smooth rotations overhead but you really can see the difference it makes here.
I feel like the turret enemies could spawn more often but yeah - what even say xD
great game - happy you commented under mine so i found it^^
Thi8s was an awesome game! I love the concept and the way it worked. Nice job!
Great work on this! Art is really cool for the simplicity. Very unique idea. Tough to master. All good things in a game!
Excellent! This is a very well executed idea. I wish I could have had just a little more control, either by weaker inputs or supporting a gamepad. Mostly because I'd really like to pull a circus maneuver and see how much taller I could make my tower of guns. Thank you for sharing this game!
Love this central mechanic! Very fun and simple idea that fits the theme well. My only suggestion (other than adding audio) is that it might be cool if there was more of a "story" to it (not, like cutscenes or whatever, just some sort of theme that explains why cannons are falling from the sky, lol). Really cool idea, though!
I loved this idea! I will echo the other commenters who said that the turrets felt a little bit too slippery - Looking at your gifs I can see that it's possible to master the current controls, but I didn't have that much finesse with them. I found my best strategy was generally to just stay still unless absolutely necessary, which unfortunately didn't let me play with the wobbly-turret mechanic as much as I would have liked.
Visually, the game looks great :) Everything is well polished and consistent, and the attention to detail in maintaining a proper pixel scale for your rotated graphics really sells the retro look - Great job, overall!
I really, really like this concept! I wish it was a little easier to move after getting even a single gun, so I could make a few more compelling decisions. Would love to see this idea improved upon.
great game, please add some sound to make it even better!
I really enjoyed this game. Great graphics and mechanics. For a game jam game it has a nice amount of polish, like the enemy explosion visuals and screen shake. I thought I'd found an easy win condition when I stacked a nice tower of blocks that shot on either side, and then a turret came to knock my tower over! The game fits very well within the theme too. Overall great job, you should feel proud!
Amazing! Such a great way to use the theme with on old school game feeling. I will say that I wish there was a button to allow you to jump incase you loose all your cannons to help avoid being killed before another cannon falls.
Great stuff! One of my all-around favorites from this jam.
Easy to pick up and very fun to play! Nice work :)
Not sure what to add with all the amazing comments already! Audio would have been cool, but just jam things! More guns would have been cool, more enemies would have been cool, upgrades, power ups, ect. Basically I liked the game, so this entire comment is saying I want more of it.
Wow, what a gem! Very clever yet simple to grasp mechanic, and it felt so satisfying to get the angle of a turret just right and blast away my foes. Would have liked to have turrets spawn in a little more frequently though, as I would sometimes find myself without any weapons for too long, ultimately leading to my untimely demise. Fire away!
Mechanics works fine, for me it was just too hard to keep gun on platform while moving - even slightest move causes the gun to fall.
Best game I've played for this jam yet. It nailed the unstable theme using such a novel mechanic. The fact that you are most unstable when you are most powerful is such a good side effect of the primary mechanic. Had to stop myself from playing.
A really simple game, but a really solid concept. Would be nice to have been able to progress some more in the game. Great job overall!
Really cool idea! I wish it was a bit more controllable? Maybe make the turrets a bit more stable? Or let us do some up down aiming? I wish I could play it for longer but I'm really having a hard time staying alive.
It's a great idea. It's addictive.
Very, very solid entry! This is begging for some sound effects!
Amazing game, one of the best I played so far :D, so addictive. My high-score was 77. It would be nice if it would show it somewhere :)
It's such an original and fun idea and the graphics are truly beautiful. And the effects as well, the trails, the explosions, the way the turrets light up the surroundings when they shoot.
The gameplay is very fun and unique and the way shooting works really makes you think about balance. Destroying enemies is fun, because in addition to the cool effects (screen shake and great explosion sprite work) you know that the kills are hard to get, and you feel like you really earned it :)
This game feels very juicy and polished. The art is amazing, and gameplay is very fun. Some sfx and music would help a lot to make this game still better
Very simple concept, executed masterfully.
WOW!!! I love this game. Great idea! Very innovative. Never thought of something like this. My favourite Ludum Dare 49 game (after playing 32 games). Not only the idea, but as well the feeling while playing is great. First I was very cautious, and then over time I took more risk and was able to hit things. And it is good you dropped plenty of turrets. CONGRATULATIONS!
Perfect execution of the theme. This was a lot of fun to play, although incredibly frustrating at time! I love it
Very well executed! Now, you just have to find some sounds. Great job!
Really interesting concept! I wasn't very good at it and found it pretty challenging, but it has great visuals and feels very polished. Well done!
I found this to be extremely hard. Any movement caused my guns to slide right off, so I was never really able to get a stack going. Very unique and interesting concept though!
Wohohoho a very creative way to implement the unstable theme. Its a fun game!!! after a while it becomes a bit repetitive, maybe you could add other turrets with different shapes or some power ups. Congratulations for the excellent job!!!
Cool concept. A lot of fun! Congrats on the entry.
awesome! love the art!
It's hard to properly manage your platform and turrets, but I really like your take on the theme. Overall realisation is also great.
Nice job!
Awesome idea. I wish my guns stayed on a just little bit better, felt like I couldn't move at all without them falling off
I love this game, very simple but fun game
It's such a simple game, but it's good to play... I had some fun
Very nice idea and game. I love the graphics (esp explosions), and the game goes very well with the theme. I like the extra challenge when the red tower appeared to make sure you cannot win with a full stacked tower... A nice way to balance the challenge. It would have been nice with the space button to be able to flip around the guns, when you had only one of them...
Such a clever idea! Very neat. Success has a lot to do with random luck, but that's OK - very fun.
Very nice game! I featured it in part five of my let's-play-series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1iYKWqClok
This was a very cool concept and felt very polished since it was simple and well executed! Really nice take on the theme where you almost want some instability to shoot diagonally (I made the mistake of just trying to stack everything at first and it all just toppling) The animations are very responsive with great feedback which makes the game more immersive and, again, very polished. The contrast of colours works really well againt the plain background. Small things like the screen shake and the little leg movement are almost things you don't notice but wouldn't feel complete without. They made the game feel more alive!
With the gameplay being so simple, it was still engaging for longer than I thought it would be. You still managed to give it that replayability with the massive score counter so you were able to try and beat your own score. I think a record of your own high score somewhere would have been great to add to that so you always know what you're aiming for.
With time contraints and doing it on your own, I understand you probably wouldn't have had any time for sound but I think it would have really added to this game if you even just had a couple. Maybe one "pew" sound for shooting and an explosion kill sound would have already fleshed it out a lot since they'd be happening a lot (hopefully!). A good trick for sounds like this would be to have a bit of random pitch variation in there as well which makes it seem less flat and repetitive even though you've only added two actual sounds!
Overall, a really great game with that fit really well together and felt very complete! Amazing job!
Really inventive! I love how the more powerful the weapon got, the harder it was for it to control. at one stange I manged to rock one of the cannons onto a point and just pivot it around for a bit. Great way of getting the player to come up with their own strategies.
