So, about that game: - the artstyle is on point, love it - the bubble cannon is a genius weapon, it forces the player to think before shooting - props for having different buttons to move and face a direction to avoid frustration (you can shoot to the left while moving toward the right side of the screen - dialog is fun and quirky - the tone is great too
not a bad game, enjoyed gameplay and music, but - there is too much is going on screen at same time - dialog, gameplay. I just can't focus on both and could predict not so many can. Dialogs aren't bad but maybe dialogs between missions or when nothing going on in safe place will be more preferable solution IMHO - only one life is too frustrating and leads to case when you are rereading a lot of dialogs. It's a good to see "Win level" option in a menu, but maybe surviving 3-5 hits could make this game better
still GJ and good luck
the controls didnt work for me :<
@miej what controls are you trying to use?
Overall is it a simple and pretty fun little game. I love the visuals and the music. I don't like that text/dialog is showing while I am playing the game, because it makes it really difficult to follow all the story.
I believe the control issue could be in the start of the game where you see the map screen, because it says to use WASD to move, but it do nothing.
Short and sweet. Had a bug on the seaweed level, picked up 97 out of 100, got the "hope this is enough" dialogue and then nothing, game just stood there.
@jk5000 That is a good point. There is nowhere to go in that first map screen, so the only option is to push 'ENTER' to enter the first settlement.
Nice game ! Loved the dialog with the plant (cactus ? :stuck_out_tongue: )

Loved the art, overall a pretty fun game
I love this! The humor was great, and I loved that you scripted a story in this time. Truly impressive.

The keyboard controls somehow also didn't work for me, but I could play with the gamepad, although I could not turn and the cannon was always pointed down. But it worked quite well actually, made it to the (quite abrupt) ending. Controlling the game like this made it more into a game of dodging, but I enjoyed that. The mood of the game is a very nice calm one, the very good art and music support that feeling. Gameplay is quite varied, with different enemy movement patterns and the seaweed collect level. So while this isn't the most exciting game out there, I enjoyed it for it's laid-back character. Well done!
Nice game, overall pretty well done. I got to the level with the shark, and couldn't get past it. Is there some special strategy? I stuck quite a few bubbles to him at one point, ans he just kept coming.
@wheybags The shark is an endurance fight. She takes 20 bubbles, so you need to preserve and not be careless
Its a cute game that makes fun to play. The bubble cannon is a nice idea!
Interesting settings, sound and good art on the buildings plus the fish. The sub design could have used more work but I like how it upgraded as the game progresses, sadly when I was collecting seaweed I didn't get enough and then game froze. I like the story to it and the humorous plant. I'd say this game is strong on all categories except theme, it follows the theme only superficially. Anyway great effort.
Nice game
I'll be honest. The core gameplay is kinda thin, but I didn't care. I rate this game highly because it is a *complete package*. Multiple levels, a full tutorial, narrative beats, an overworld, a thrilling boss fight(!), and behind it all, an epic quest for a priceless relic!
Well done!
I really liked the art style, it all fits together very nicely, and the painted feel made it work well with the underwater theme.
Gameplay wise, good job on making every enemy unique and even including a boss fight! In my opinion aiming with the mouse would be more intuitive/feel better to play with rather than with I/K (of course, still making it so the turret slowly changes it's direction), but that's a small gripe.
It did feel like the game ended abruptly, but that's the nature of game jams haha, I can't complain much there. Overall this was a great experience, kudos to the team! (loved the cactus btw)
This is a really nice game, the humor works perfectly and the gameplay is challenging but fun.
