Love the explosions! This game is pretty hard though.

arkinrev 2021-10-03 23:12

That's some rough timing on the potions, and I forgot about stirring! Added level of difficulty when that third cauldron explodes. Animation cancelling sped me up, but I still couldn't remember my left from right click. All of the visuals are fantastic. And an awesome leaderboard! Great work!

mogaiskii 2021-10-04 07:14

Wow! Really good and polished game! It feels pretty hard, maybe add some empty bottles (maybe within shop) would make it more meditative(:

theviraldragon 2021-10-04 09:40

We made the same game. You executed the gameplay much better.

yagovictor 2021-10-04 10:32

Amazing

erikengineengineer 2021-10-04 10:34

It's really a hard game! It reminds me of overcooked

romfactory 2021-10-04 10:35

Very cool game! The timing is pretty tight indeed, and I loved making the customer's face explode with bad potions :see_no_evil: I would find it cool if the pots were also displaying the color of the potion you just made, I think for now it stays with the rainbow, even when a recipe's complete

mborecki 2021-10-04 10:35

Best "Explode your customer Simulator" yet!

Too hard to make anythink... so I started throwing buttles at customer. Love explosions!

pinkemma 2021-10-04 10:40

Very nice! Really enjoyed this one. The marks on the bottles in addition to colours was a nice touch!

zimny11 2021-10-04 10:44

Oh wow! First of all, any 3D game made in such a short time is amazing in my opinion. The complexity of the game really surprised me. And the music is so good! Overall awesome idea and execution. There are some "BOOMs" that happened for reasons unknown to me, but even if it was a bug, who doesn't like explosions! Great job.

jka 2021-10-04 10:49

Great game! The graphics are great, I especially liked the potion effects. The leaderboard is a cool touch!

owca 2021-10-04 11:01

Wow! Thank guys for all the feedback! I'm a bit suprised that the game turned out so difficult. It could definately use some difficulty balancing but I was out of time. The [previous jam](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/nail-it) was a piece of cake comparing this one. I was working until the last minutes to finish as much as I could.

@erikengineengineer I must admit that Overcooked was one of my inspirations

@romfactory Exploding customers was next point on my TODO list before I ran out of time

@mborecki I will consider renaming the game

@pinkemma thanks for noticing that - one of the reasons for adding bottle-marks was for players with color-blindness

@zimny11 thanks for noticing the music. It was one of my personal chellanges after last jam.

mrnannings 2021-10-04 16:08

Cool game but I must admit Im not always sure why there is an explosion.

owca 2021-10-04 16:58

@mrnannings Yep, it's probably because I didn't implement a proper tutorial. The mixture in a pot can explodes in 2 situations - if you put more than 3 ingredients into a single pot or if the mixture starts to boil (boiling sound + multicolor steam) and you dont stir it within 5 seconds.

icedjam 2021-10-04 19:11

Hard but fun game. I love the graphics and animations, the customers weird stare is creeping me out though! Nicely done!

ladymeow 2021-10-04 22:35

It was fun to play but also really hard :D

derek-volker 2021-10-04 22:44

Interesting game.

It's quite the graphic work you put here, it really makes the game shine.

The mechanics are easy to understand, but a bit tricky when you actually play. I liked it.

Good job on developing this game!

thatmanrobin 2021-10-05 19:45

Overall fantastic entry, loved the concept and had a similar idea in my list of potential games for the theme but I think you pulled it off well. Despite the fact I am horrible at the game. Maybe it would have helped if it showed what was currently in the cauldrons. Also 3 cauldrons at once may have been a bit much. Maybe as it got harder then add more cauldrons. Great work for Compo though :)

lenan 2021-10-06 01:10

Nice game, i feel like the order of the potions shouldn't matter as long as they are correct. The effects and colors looked really good, the explosion felt a little out of place. The sounds were good and the music had a nice vibe. Overall a cool game.

Nice game, spent a bit too much time getting the 3000 high score. The game plays pretty well, even when you go faster than the animations, feels good. The simple music works and I liked the graphics. The gameplay is addictive, and man this really shows how much a scoreboard adds to a game's replayability. Had a very nice time overall ! oh yeah and first thing I tried was giving the client the X potion and he exploded

roelosaurus 2021-10-06 05:29

I dig it, simple and clean.

mejzlosh 2021-10-06 12:54

man, this is awesome! The pressure element and multitasking possibilities :) I had hard time playing it but it was real fun!! And kudos for making it in Compo. It feels polished. We were making something similar as jam, alchemy rulez!!!

erkberg 2021-10-06 17:36

Very nice game! It made it into the second part of my let's play series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5X9Ha1_nE8

upsitesdown 2021-10-07 07:44

I love the idea and how you implemented it, but boy this game is not easy :D

purrseus 2021-10-09 11:26

Wow, very nice compo game! Lovely use of the theme and great presentation! I kinda spent the whole first round figuring out the game (I brewed a total of 2 potions, haha) and had not much fun during it, but I wanted to give your game another chance. Now, a few rounds later, I'm really happy to currently occupy 3rd place on your leaderboard  The game is really fun once you understood it!

One thing that was not clear to me was how much points you get for each potion. I wondered if it's worth it to go for the ones that have other potions as ingredients. Yet during preparation I did not have the time to also look at the score increase.

Anyway, thanks a lot for making this :)

runuchok 2021-10-10 15:16

Watched @erkberg gameplay, because I'm colorblind. And it's difficult to me to see the difference between yellow and green potion) Result potions need special symbols too! But overall this is a fun game! And I definitely see potential! Visuals are fun (crosseyed customer is best), the gameplay is great!

owca 2021-10-10 17:56

@purrseus thanks for playing my game and for your valuable feedback. I totally agree that scoring system is unclear. I'm not sure myself how much points you get for each potions without looking at the code  Regarding understanding the rules it's probably because of lack of a proper tutorial. I noted those 2 topics on my "lessons learned" notes and I will try to focus on them next time.

@runuchok I must say I feel like an idiot right now :face_palm: I've added those symbols with color-blindess in mind but for some reason i didn't thought about the final potions. I will keep that in mind. Thanks for your feedback

alvan-arulandu 2021-10-18 20:16

The game is quite difficult, but the concept itself is quite interesting. Great job!
