I would really like to try it out, but it doesn't work for me. Just shows me the instructions and won't load or anything :(

Hi @ohmi, thanks for your comment. It could be that your browser doesn't have Flash player enabled. I just added an HTML5 version too if you want to try that out!
Jep, works now. I enjoyed exploring the variety ot the fish, all so cute. And the music fits pretty well. The only thing you could polish is to make the pile of fish look more realistic (after cathing a few they just kind of float around) or even add a bucket they drop into. (would add to the cuteness of the game if the fish wouldn't have to die so horribly)
Cool graphics, cool fish, cool music, cool jellyfish water caustics. I miss the cool background trees though :'(
hey, thanks for making the game. the pixel art and animation are cool! some kind of ending would be pretty nice.
Pretty graphics and nice music. Feels good. Graphics feel really polished. The straight line in the horizon is a little too straight though, maybe bend it a little or something.
I would play more of it if there are more things to do to fish. Something like the fishing gameplay in Stardew Valley.
Great polish on this one. Really relaxing and smooth game. Not sure I get the connection to the theme, but overall one of the better games I've played so far.
Cute, simple, well-rounded game! Graphics and animation are top notch! Music worked pretty well, too (I didn't knew about Wolfram Tones!)
The idea is okay, and it fits the theme well. The gameplay is okay, but I would have liked a bit more to do. The music and graphics was pretty good. Overall a well made LD game.
Good game. Liked the animation a lot, was very therapeutic.
This looks beautiful. Everything from the ripple effect on the water, to the clouds, the swooping birds, and the animations when you've got a fish hooked but don't reel it in right away works very well.
Some suggestions: - the sky could change with the time of day, so that you get a sunrise, sunset, stars, etc - gameplay elements, such as throwing back small fish, or defending your catch from the gulls, or competing against friends for the biggest catch
However, some of these suggestions might take away from the relaxing nature of the game.
Very chill game, the graphics and music are awesome and work together really well!
Definitely a cute little game. Largest I caught was the squid. Had to download the source and check the assets to see if I was missing any other big catches. The gull silhouettes had me on edge though - they looked like they were going for my stash, haha. What's the connection to the theme on this one?
So I know it is a game about fishing, but it was to boring for me after 2 dozens caught. I expected the bridge to break with every catch, but it didn't, so I stopped playing. I liked the graphics though. Very cute :)
While the graphics and the sound are nice, I don't really get any mechanics and I totally can't see how it fits the theme. On the contrary, we're looking for a bigger catch here.
As someone who participated as well, it always astounds me when I see games that feel like cohesive experiences. This definitely feels like a cohesive experience (especially the music and sound fx, those are very good). Very relaxing and entertaining.
Only nitpick I have with this is that I think the curve on the casting animation is maybe slightly too harsh? Feels like I'm spearing the hook into the water, lol.
Really interesting game, the art is definetely one of the cutest things I've seen so far, the gameplay is pretty good, and the sounds are quite impressive for a compo game, overal the game has a lot of potential, I loved !
To start with: you made a beautiful "take a break" game. :) But to be honest I was hoping there was a statement buried in there, like "the more fish you have, the more birds there are blocking your vision" or "the more fish you catch, the smaller the fish will be over time." That's not a criticism! Just kinda what I was hoping for. :D
A really enjoyable game. Delightful pixel graphics, soothing music, and as the title tells you, just fishing. A nice way to waste a few minutes.
Really pretty and great sound effects!
@ohmi Thanks for the suggestions. Adding some fish flopping would be pretty easy.
@badly-drawn-rod Great suggestions. I love the idea of changing the time of day along with which fish are available. Could be a fun mobile game if I added multiplayer features like you mentioned.
To @ted and @zinkler and everyone who critiqued me on the theme -- y'all have good points. The main game mechanic is that the more fish you catch, the longer you have to wait between catches. Essentially, it's a game about overfishing. It's a pretty buried motif and I now understand it didn't exactly come through (or make for a very fun game mechanic, lol). Thank you all for your helpful commentary.
@ruthiepee oh! I thought that was what you were going for, but I either I was getting super relaxed or past a certain point I couldn't tell the difference between the time durations. Sometimes you gotta smack people over the head with these things. :)
Top notch atmosphere and especially artwork. There's something here I think all us game dev peeps can relate to, completeness and a sense of things being like they're supposed to. This game seems like quality work. Also I caught a squid with a fishing rod. It was 54kg (which I am assuming is a lot, because I'm a dumb American). Great job!
The mood is over 9000. Your games always come together into an extremely well done package. And I finally got my dream of catching a big ole tunafish.
Nice looking game.
Simple but clever take of the theme.
My only complain is that I read "spacebar only", and I had to use my mouse button...
Simple but well made game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJp29JpDY1Y
