Amazing!
You'd think that controlling 2 characters at the same time would be hard, but not at all, this game is nice and easy fun!
I really love your take on the theme!
The pixel art is awesome, the music and soud effects are great and fit well with the Samurai theme! (Also, did you record your cat purring and meowing?)
One minor fix that I would recommand you to do would be that bushes and lanters should appear behind the characters if their y-axis is greater than that of said bush or lantern (I don't know if Unreal has some kind of built-in Y-Sort for this, I know that Godot has lol uwu)
Ended in my "favorite Ludum 46 games" list!

Music, sound effects and graphics are all top notch. I love the take on the theme and the general mood of the game. The octopus shall not take this cute cat!

Well done !
- Great idea for 2 characters - Nice visual and sound. - Easiest tactic - place samurai right on cat, hit everything ?

I really like the concept of playing two characters at once! Music and art is also nice. Good job!

Missing colliders on the walls for the cat, so pretty easy to cheese. Really nice approach in terms of Art, Theme and gameplay tho

NYA? Very impressive! So good play feeling, the cat, the samurai and the takoyakis are so cute.
Bug report: The game stopped at wave 7 for me and the cat can go in the wall that makes him untouchable.
This idea is excellent !!! i like this game, but same as say @draquise there is no collision on wall for the cat and what disturb ennemy ! Can you fix that ?PSamurai.jpg

I really liked this game. Interesting control mechanic, though a little clunky. I feel like this game could have been done entirely on the mouse. Left click a mob to move and attack it, then right click to move the dog.

Nice idea, I have found the controls a quit difficult to manage, but it is fine. I loved the Samurai & Cat theme!

It was fun! I really like the concept. Also, controlling two players let you choose between play alone or with another person, wich is nice! Bravo!
Good game ! Multitasking done right and when it becomes stressful you actually have to focus to keep track of the controls and keep your cat alive.
As it was already mentioned, I could trick the AI by walking the cat outside of the garden and just destroy the octopuses one by one without mercy...
Music, sounds and art are top notch ! Good job !
Thank you all for your support! We are still working on the collisions bug since was a last-minute bug and we'll update a bug fix + some last minute implementations on octopus spritesheet animation that we couldn't implement on time hahaha.
Beatriz (Programmer): About the collisions... Yeah, we had a lot problems with them. This was our first time using UE4 Paper 2D for everyone and we couldn't make them work in time. We are currently working on it, we know it's the first problem we need to solve because it affects the gameplay. Programming was really exhausting so your comments have raised my morale, so thank you!
Again me: During the next days, we will pass through all your games and leave our reviews! :)
@sheinxy Thank you very much for your words! We were a bit anxious since yesterday a lot of bugs started appearing and we couldn't manage all the workflow, so the results weren't what we expected ;;. Your comment lifted our motivation like, A LOT, and now we are coding in full speed just because of it! We will look at the bushes thing, in Unreal we were using a sorting of layers in the tilemap settings for it, so it shouldn't be a problem.
@alphapolygon Thank you very much!
@dezom Thank you very much! At first it was a super random topic that we all agreed it was funny and could add some spice to the 'keep it alive' topic.
@yevhenii Thank you very much for your words! We've loved that you took your time to play it!
@nehvis Thank you very much! It's really appreciated!
@draquise Thank you very much! Yeah, we had a last minute bug with that, still looking at what's missing since is quite a random bug in Paper2D Unreal feature (since all the NPCs collide and its like, the same code?).
@khyrgrim Thank you very much! We knew about the collision bug, but not about that wave 7 bug so we will look at it. Thanks for telling us!
@robowarrior1982 With your comment I laughted so hard that I'm already cring lmao. It happened the same for me in the last build I updated and I was like: what the fuck is happening with octopus, nani. But my clock said: 2:59 and I just updated it saying "you know what, that's a problem for tomorrow". We're now fixing all the collisions and weird behaviour with spawns, and implementing the last spritesheets. Thank you very much!
@maindric Thank you for your words! About the controls, the fact it's that both clicks were indeed being used in the first gameplay features, but it was like way too easy then and we wanted to add a layer of difficulty. Two hands working same time.
@ifidamas Thank you very much, we appreciate your feedback!
@franca Thank you very much! ;; <3
@cocapasteque Thank you very much! And yeah, the collision bug is really messing up all the gameplay experience, so we priorized that to be fixed in the next hours. Thank you very much, again, for your feedback!
Weirdly enough, your game is a little similar with ours XD How you implemented your dual character wielding is out of the charts! it has some really good potential because of how good it is to control both characters with keyboard+mouse, maybe i'll even steal this ideal later 👀. I love physical+thinking challenging games and yours cand easily out-do that. I'm happy that the map didn't had colliders, it made me feel good for dodging those sausages, i mean, octopus XD (Google Octopus Sausage it can make your day). But indeed the Walls needed a collision, I saw that it was from a bug and i feel you >-< Just one thing, at stage 7, it stoped spawning monsters. I didn't try again, but i think i was just unlucky.
What version am I supposed to rate 0.3 or 0.4?
@zebraatomica I laughed so hard with this HAHAHAHAHA. Yeah, the collision was a big bad surprise and we are having a thought time because its absolutely random, so fixing it is being a pain in the ***. And yes, some other people told us about the wave7 bug, so we are fixing that too. Thank you very much!
@digitaldude555 0.4 please! we are still making fixes so we will update changes as they are solved :)
Strongest point is the background art is really beautiful, I like the sound effects as well, I like the interesting control scheme and that makes the game fun and as people said can be a 2 player game.
Now of course the game breaking problem there are no building collisions so the cat can go out of bounds and then the octopuses stop following, second there is no enemy variety so gets boring quickly and finally there is no quit button so had to alt tab to close this game.
The theme was alright, I like how the enemies drop food for the cat to keep him alive.

It launches Steam VR when I launch the game. What? Hahahaha.
I love the kind of games that allow 2 people to share the experience. Playing alone can be a bit difficult. The music is great!
I have the issue with it launching occulus rift app. Was interesting idea having to control two things at a time. Think I'd rather just hold the mouse button down to move rather than having to constantly click though. Nice concept, well done. #SaveTheKitty
Great game, Audio matched the scene and the visuals were simple yet effective. Game loop was solid, I thought controlling two entities would be difficult, but you pulled it off surprisingly well.
@digitaldude555 Yup, our main programmer is still searching what's missing in the collisions. We've searched UE4 doc for Paper2D, but seems like it's a bug that a lot of people had and could only be solved by C++. We are thinking how to approach so it gets solved asap. And also, thank you very much for your feedback!
@edearth no way HAHAHAHA, Idk why it does that, but seems it's happening too with OR app. Than you very much for your feedback!
@sacredbacon It's delightful to read these kind of comments. Thank you very much for your feedback!
Wow, I haven't read any instruction for controls before trying but it was really surprising I got it intuitively. But I'm pretty sure never tried any controls like that before. Was it your aproach to implement controlling 2 players or is there any other example you inspired? After playing some time, I wished the samurai be able to move not on click but as long as I hold the click. By the way, excellent job!
@srknvrnbskrt About our controls decision, we had multiple debates about it. My first idea was controlling both players with different inputs, but never specified how. We knew that if we used ASDW for one, and arrows for the other, the difficulty would increase A LOT just because it's more 'piano-like'. We thought about two ideas of how moving the samurai with the mouse, and made another debate about what UX we wanna make the player feel. We wanted two independant characters, and not the feeling of 'why I have two of them if it can be played just with 1). So we splitted the coreloop mechanics and distributed equally between both. Both are dependant of the other, in some way, but we kept the topic of 'keep it alive' with the cat decision of not allowing it to self-defend.
So we decided to make easier one (clicks but more mechanics for him) of them agains't putting the extra dificulty in the other side (ASDW but can move faster & take items). However, never though about the hold button until now we got the feedback, so surely we will make a test and if it fits, once we get the collisions work properly, we'll improve de control experience :)
I hope this answers and gives you an idea about it :). Thank you very much for your feedback!
Verg Good game, the graphics are awesome and I like the concept of controlling the samurai and the cat but I would suggest to put a tutorial first. The audio and sound effects are good but maybe you could add some eastern background music. Overall very good game!

Really nice idea controlling two characters at once. Controls worked quite well and the special attack was useful and nice to look at. Yeah the missing colliders and enemies getting stuck in the door or on the field tarnish an otherwise fine game, but hell, I know how physic engines can suck, so shit happens sometimes.
Well done!

Ah! Tough wrapping your head around the dual control scheme. Helped to just always keep the two together. Nice complete package here though.
