omg i love this! it reminds to soo many stuff like shoutcast back in the days.
I also remember "The Lounge by PCD" (aka later became vSide) which was a 3d Avatar Chat world but when you move around the world and entering in certain area another radio got broadcasted in your game.
I often had this idea to replicate that and thought about doing this in unity - good to know that this is good possible :)
You put maaaaany great stations there - i am not sure if this work but could you add a version with a window and that is also played in the background ? would like to put this on my second screen for background music :)
Btw. Radio Paralax is one of my favorite :)
@neowhoru Done - especially for you :)
The application starts in fullscreen mode, but you can minimize it - and it runs in background ++

@geckoo1337 Thank you! Tested directly and works like a charm :) Will use it as my new music player hehe.

Ay mate! I see that you uploaded a unity build! Are you planning on uploading a web-version too? If not then I'll make sure to use Lizz's PC, which has Windows (I kicked Windows off my PC since last winter)
Hope you had fun developing last weekend, I'm very curious what this game is all about :grin:

It's cool to see non-game entries, the creative spin is appreciated! Good radio choice, and the outrun aesthetic is nice :thumbsup:

I couldn't play because there's no download for Mac.

Pretty cool! Not sure if there's a way that I missed to do it but it would be useful to have a volume slider since the different stations had pretty different volumes while clicking thru them :D.
@tygrak a volume slider coul be a really good idea. Noted ++

Interesting idea, you don't see non-game entry very often! Apart from the volume slider mentioned above, it would be very cool if this showed the current song that's being played, but not sure if those radio stations support it.

Great selection of radio stations! Works like a charm! The tool is already great but it would be even cooler with some customization and maybe an audio visualization.

Over the years I do LD, I've seen non-video games, programming utilities, but never a radio streaming software until this one :laughing: For nostalgia, I searched Amstrad on the detailed page you linked (as it was the first computer I had), and found a dedicated one : RolandRadio.net. As it was not in your Jam entry, I downloaded the post-jam version… But nope. So then, I tried the direct links, and found that the site seems broken. So much for my nostalgia :rofl: But I enjoyed trying some of the ones you linked
@lereveur Thanks for your review. It's true - the link which I shared with you contains some dead URL because it was written a few years ago and its creator does not update it. I selected some stations without any preference. It is just a POC to get efficient streaming using Unity. This time, the theme (which always sucks as they say) did not inspire me.

Ay my friend, better late than never I guess haha :grin: I had to hijack Lizz's pc, which runs Windows to play your entry. I think I get it why there is no web-build for this one. Looks like you did some networking magic to get this to work. I guess that would be a bit difficult to build into a web-app-thingy :grin:
This entry is not really a game this time, but I can see how this technology can be fit into one nicely. As I set somewhat of a minimum time per entry for feedback, I had lots of time to listen to all the channels. ```And I created a tierlist``` based on my first impressions
``` - S: radio sega, arcade radio
- A: Nectarine, Slay radio, rain wave, cgm uk
- B: Scene Sat, paralax, gamepad radio
- C: Liquid games radio, rpgn radio, no life, ericade, vgm music, nerd & geek
- D: Hyper radio, kaaos radio, eight bit fm, classic video games, mod fm, cvgm, solaris agency, sprite layer
- F: ZX radio ```
Regarding some other feedback / questions I've got: - I played the original version, I also saw a postjam version but no changelog. What changed in that version? - Sadly the app froze on me several times. I was multitasking at the time, trying to fix some unrelated problem with the firewall - I noticed some random windows opening in the background, was that your game? And if yes, what strange voodoo is happening in the background? :laughing: - The last station I tried was "Nerd & Geek". It came to my attention that the ampersand was not included in the font-file for the title - A scroll indicator would have been nice. Or maybe better: (as the window seemed to be fixed size) three rows of stations or smaller tiles would be perfect for this one - Some animations in the background would make the app a little more interesting. Just some static bars going up and down as a visualizer for instance :-)
Final question: why did you decide on this project to do during the gamejam? I think it's cool, but it is clearly no game. So there is a story here I figured and I was curious what would motivate you to make that decision :smile:
@geckoo1337 Je ne parierai pas sur notre différence d'âge juste à partir de cette information. Alors à première vue, ça aurait du sens, car vu qu'on ne roulait pas vraiment sur l'or, lorsque je suis entré dans le monde merveilleux de l'informatique, Amstrad était déjà une machine peu récente, celui que l'on m'a acheté était un 6128 de seconde main, son ancien propriétaire venant d'acquérir un PC… D'un autre côté, j'avais déjà peut-être 13 ou 14 ans à l'époque, je n'ai pas commencé tôt, donc ça dépend. Bref, cela ne présume pas non plus que tu as tort, juste que cet indice n'en est peut-être pas un (mais le moyen le plus efficace d'en avoir le cœur net reste simplement de dire que cette année je vais gentiment sur mes 50 balais :laughing:) Edit : n'empêche, plus ça va et plus je me dis que le LD réunit une fourchette d'âge vraiment large, entre les quelques ados et d'autres du troisième âge, il y a vraiment toute la palette entre les deux, dont des vétérans qui ne sont pas vétérans que du LD :rofl:
