A duck on ice by jk5000 2022-04-04T10:24:31Z
Nice submission. Based on the first voice line it sounds like we were so close to having a turtle island instead of a duck island

Nice submission. Based on the first voice line it sounds like we were so close to having a turtle island instead of a duck island
Nicely made UI and interaction with the map. I definitely got the feeling that my efforts were futile pretty early on. I didn't feel any motivation to continue trying though, so I gave up at around 15 rounds. Feels like it just needs something to hook the player into continuing despite the inevitable end
Great submission though! Thanks!
I enjoyed the simplicity of this. It feels like a game that knows what it is!
Thanks!
Atmosphere is definitely a highlight on this one over other compo entries! I really think you could take this further post-LD.
Thank for the upload!!
I spent a long time trying to make my virtual friends happy and in the end it just taught me that some people shouldn't hang out together. Fun game! Thanks for the upload
Nice game! I cleared the planet with 53k miles remaining!
The numbers tuning felt nice as I was on edge almost the entire time! The game was a little long, but you nailed the the doomed feeling. Really impressed!
Thank for the upload!
I managed to stay alive for 77 seconds! Quite fun game once I got the hang of it.
The mechanics of transferring the flame was a bit finicky and at times it was hard to get the game to do what I wanted it to. The bombs would spawn under or too close and there didn't seem to be a good way to know which bomb was lit without waiting. A sprite for the flame/lit bomb would have gone a long way!
Overall good game!! Thanks for the uploading!!!
I clicked my way up to over 600, but in the end I still lost, haha
Good quick one! Thanks!
I had more fun just collecting and feeding the catapult than I did once I realized there was a throw mechanic. Unfortunate as I felt like that took away from the game a little. The graphics are consistent and appealing and I enjoyed watching my helpers desperately try to help
Yup. This is gold. Great job! Speedrun time 9:11.38!
I liked this game, but it lacked purpose and I'm not sure if there was a theme part that I missed other than just not being able to "win"
The art was good and the retro style worked great! I actually spent a long time playing.
Great compo game and thanks for uploading!
3:22 was as far as I could get.
The camera management started to get really difficult with the boxes so far away from the center. It was nearly impossible to get the boxes on the screen. Although I suppose that's part of the game!
It was surprisingly fun to get used to the unique way of interacting with the world.
Zooming out would have been nice, but otherwise a super nice entry! Thanks for the game!
Story, setting, and art are all on point for just 48 hours! I didn't have _fun_ playing it though. Definitely spend a little more time working on player experience in the future, but still this is an overall really nice piece!
Thanks for the entry!!
@widdershin had some great input that I want to 2nd. This is a fantastic start to a promising game. I'd love to see this iterated on post LD. I love your art style.
Thanks for the entry!
I was able to make it to 5:17 on my 3rd try :) - Fun. I liked the mood and this definitely fit the theme.
When the game first loaded I was left wanting start screen or a "click to continue" message to know the game is ready for my input.
Nice work and thanks for the game!!
Nice entry! I think you nailed the tutorial levels, game length, and scaling difficulty! I was convinced I was going to close it early because of repetition or losing interest, but you kept me hooked to the end.
Great job!
I lasted 2:41 with 214 bugs killed. It definitely ramped up in difficulty quick, but I enjoyed the transition from slow to fast and how the player goes from calculated and precise to wild spray and pray.
Nice game and thanks for the submission!
I was able to survive through wave 4, but couldn't figure out how to survive any longer
Great graphics!! Addition sounds and ambiance would have added a lot, but this is a very solid submission! Thank you for uploading!
I struggled a bit without a resource counter on the screen for the cures and food. Having to actually go to the city to inspect it and find out zombie vs human count felt appropriate though!
The style was definitely a highlight! Love the gameboy game idea.
Good game and thanks for the upload!
1:30 seconds with 200 kills. Nice simple game!
Unfortunately I wasn't able to figure out how to make the attacks work. There was one time an AOE indictor showed for the fireball, but I wasn't able to get it to show up again upon restarting the game.
Pretty fun game, but I really wish there was an indicator for where the next meteors would be! A random well placed meteor turns the good base of a strategy game into punishing RNG.
That said, I did enjoy it and the tile progression is really clever! It gave me board game vibes.
You should continue to iterate on this post-jam as I think you have a really solid game!
I made it to day 54 with 3756 steps! I'm still not really sure what strategy to employ for efficiency and I think that makes this a great game! Definitely some more strategizing that can go on for the player than a simple snake game.
Nice innovation! Thanks for the entry!
Well made, thanks for uploading!
I saved the dinosaurs! This is a really good feeling submission! The UI, the effects, the background, the shake. It was all really well done! Thanks!
I managed to get to turn 128 with a score of 135200! I'm still not sure exactly how the crystal works, but it was fun.
I liked the manual control over the turns to give that added strategy! This could definitely be expanded and built out post-LD!
Great job, thanks for uploading!
I made it to a score of 399!!! Way higher than I thought I would get after failing miserably the first try.
Super interesting take on the theme. I really liked the mechanic or managing the tree. Fantastic job!
Its still not clear to me how exactly some parts of the tree heal or die when the sun is out. A little more clarity there would have helped
Very nice entry. It would have been nice to have a quicker restart or go back as I got tired of collecting flowers each time. I would have enjoyed a solid 1 damage per hit on the hero more than 0 haha
Fantastic entry, thanks for uploading!!
Super solid entry! I didn't realize you couldn't sacrifice yourself to the volcano to make it happy after running out of other offerings. I wish there was an in-game score. Cute as hell volcano.
I also would have liked a counter for how many objects were held as I sometimes had difficulty telling whether or not I actually grabbed the object.
Thanks for the upload!
I enjoyed the graphics and music. Definitely felt like a speed-runner kind of game. Most of the potions hearts were not useful and the difficulty ramped up at the 4th screen to what seemed near impossible.. not sure if that was just part of the theme and we were never supposed to win?
Overall a great submission for compo! Really impressive!
Thanks!
I survived for 8:31 seconds, but now I need to take a break from gaming because I now have carpal tunnel. I liked your usage of light and the camera position was on point for having to turn to see what is behind you!
Nice entry!
Got to round 21. The game is very interesting and quite fun. I would have loved to be able to change the directions of pieces already on the board, but maybe that would have broken the guarantee to lose? Overall really great piece! Thanks for uploading
Got to a score of 233! Fun little game with a hint of strategy to make your actions feel impactful!
Nice entry!
Exploring the anthill was extremely fun even if I wasn't doing the objective! If you had extra time, a minimap of the anthill's holes or the surrounding area would have done wonders for this game.
Overall I still very much enjoyed it and the atmosphere it presented. Nice work!
Fun game! Started lagging a lot once I got to 1000 kills because of the number of enemies. Recommend having the in-game information presented before starting the game.
Really nice submission! Thanks!
I found this one a little too hard to get used to. Maybe it would have been better if I actually played on a phone where I could use the power of 2 thumbs instead of 1 mouse? I think a video/gif of you playing the game to show how to get started would have been a godsend.
Thanks for the entry!!
I had a lot of fun with this - I drew 202 cards. I don't know how RNG and strategy affect people's experience but I think you did a great job.
Music was solid for the style of game I felt appropriately challenged with the cards I drew User feedback was good
Overall I really liked this one! Thanks for uploading! You could probably continue working on this a little to give quality of life improvements on the setting of stations (maybe snap to the nearest track)
I'm open to ideas on how to submit UE4 content in a web player, but everything I found hints that it's not as simple as a build :(
Would appreciate if you tried it anyway :)
Good game! As others said, the clicking of the floating coins was borderline toxic, but it was still fun. I'd have preferred the building and flame buttons to have keyboard input alternatives to alleviate a bit of the carpal tunnel. The graphics and core loops were great though and the art had a cute consistency to it!
Overall nice submission and thanks for uploading!
Orbital mechanics are real! This is a fantastic and unique interpretation on the theme!! Really nicely done, thanks for uploading!
I saved the day!!! That was a fun game and well balanced to keep me trying over and over. Nicely done.
I won! It took two tries, but was fairly trivial once I figured court out. I liked the humor in the game.
Thanks for uploading!
A quick into to the controls as the game starts would be a fantastic add. I was confused as hell on the throwing one. Overall great entry though! Thanks!
I got to 46! The sound effects were really nice. Projectile prediction would have been nice for game feel I think, but overall fun! Thanks for uploading
I wasn't really able to figure out whether was I was doing had any effect on the outcome of the game. Also the feedback for what action I was performing wasn't well indicated. When moving houses I often dropped walls instead.
The art style and sounds were definitely a highlight though. Very consistent and made a great mood.
Thanks for the upload!
Aside from the instruction part, I think this was fun! Thanks for the upload!
This is a nice take on the theme! Definitely sound and a score as other mentioned would be huge boons for this entry.
Unfortunately I couldn't play through the game to the end if it had one because of having played too many spam click games today lol
The character was cute and I liked the idea. More user feedback for when/if an evolution would happen or how long the pet needed to be outside would be good.
Thank for the upload!
