Quite addictive, not sure if the dig power upgrades actually make things easier (after about 5 you feel quite out of control) but I sure want them a lot.

The leaderboard is a fun addition to this game! I wish you could smoothly scroll down while digging instead of by screens, because some of those circular enemies get so fast that you don't have time to react to it before you're hit. Otherwise this is a fun little arcade game!
It's really addicting to try and get a new highscore. I agree with @phobos001 that the screen needs to scroll with the player instead of when you hit the end of the screen.
Also I got the highscore :) highscore.PNG
Finally managed to crack the leader board, that's such a cool feature to have given the timeframe. The shovel upgrade a great addition. Keep up the great work!
The game was pretty fun! I liked how you had a scoreboard and also the frog sprites made me laugh.
P.S. Nice website!
Nice little game, love the music!
This is quite fun, and I liked the music too!
Perhaps the balance could be improved as the difficulty ramps up quite quickly as the enemies speed up and it's quite overwhelming when there's a bunch of them at once, but the game still works well despite that.
Now I'm going back to try beat my high score...
I LOVE the global leaderboard. It really gives you something to play for
This was fun! A great interpretation of the theme, and I really dig the variety of enemies. The leaderboard is a great touch too!
Having a leaderboard really makes me want to replay and try to beat someone, haha. Congrats!
Cute. It gets chaotic really quickly lol. I think that's mainly because the enemies that are still outside of the screen are active making so that projectiles and fast moving enemies suddenly hit you unfairly since you cannot see them. Meaning, it feels like the game encourages playing fast but also doesn't have like a "warning system" to let you know you are near danger so you have to slow down enough for the camera to catch up. I wonder if this issue would be easily resolved by not having a static camera but rather letting it follow you. Otherwise I feel like I can go fast for a few rows then I have to stop for the camera to shift, quickly scan the area, and then move, rinse and repeat, which for me makes the game feel a little sluggish.
Still, fun, simple, and solid. Like others have said, the leaderboard is always a nice touch. :D
Nice! I like the leaderboard.
Leaderboard was a nice touch!
I got a 49 on my first play through. Not going to bother submitting that to the leaderboard. But I enjoyed the game. Great to see someone from the Knoxville group submit a Compo game, being a part of the Nashville Game Developers myself. I think for a compo game this is pretty solid and it fits the theme well. Nothing really to add. Good job.
Character and enemy art was very cute. Music was also fun and fit the tone of the game.
I didn't understand the benefit of additional shovels. I agree with some of the other comments about smoother scrolling of the level would help a lot to be able to see what's coming up.
Great work.
Nice short game. :)
Fun little entry which could be expanded on with a variety of different upgrades or level types as well as more enemies and other obstacles. I agree with others about smoother scrolling, however apart from that a really nice game, great job!
The leaderboard nice. It makes me interested to be better and better in this game.
Congratulation to your Entry! The high score pushed the game with a challenge, but in its core I missed some fun while playing. I checked your other games and maybe you should consider developing games with pixel art. It could polish your games to a new level. Combination of 2d and 3d art is always an enormous challenge and takes a lot of time consumption. Time you could use to invest into the gameplay instead. I wish you good luck with your future game jams!
