Cool graphics. Something that my grandchild loves ! thanks for making this.

Some soundfx or background music would have really made the game more engaging. The art is nice tho and managing my funds was fun. Good Game!

Good idea, nice graphics

It would have been more fun if it had sound effects, and maybe some music, but other than lack of sound, Was a really enjoyable and fun little game!

Don't know if I'm cheating by just clicking around instead of dragging my mouse, but I guess judging from my screenshot it's not helping me find stuff. lol

Love the concept for your game, it brings back memories from playing a certain Magic School Bus Dinousaur PC Game as a kid. Adding music is the only improvement suggestion I have.

It's pretty addictive. I would see this as a mobile game

Clever game! Very relaxing. I loved it, very good job  Maybe add some randomness on discoveries to have replayability. :two_hearts:

I considered something like this for the theme myself but didn't have the technical know-how to pull it off. I'm glad to see somebody more capable ran with the idea! I did find that occasionally a single pixel or two of an upper layer would prevent me digging down to a lower layer (while being almost impossible to get rid of), but figure that's probably quite hard to avoid.

One thing I think would have made for a substantial improvement would have been steadily darker soil colours. As it is, once you've torn up the ground a bit it can get very difficult to tell what it is you're trying to dig. Really nice little game overall, though: very satisfying to gradually clear out whole upper layers while you're poking around trying to find things on the lower ones. Like others I'd appreciate some sound effects, but I'm actually not sure it really needs background music. If you did turn it into a mobile game, for example, it's the sort of thing I might tap away at while watching TV so might just mute that anyway.

Awesome idea. Some sounds and music would make it even better.

Great idea, very nice aesthetics. I think this concept would work very well as a touchscreen game as after a long session of dragging on my trackpad my hand was starting to ache.

I spent a lot more time than I usually spend on a game with this one. It was so calming to dig away at each layer, uncovering more and more artifacts. A very well-done game.

Very Fun. It was a bit difficult at times to dig over multiple layers, but definitely a really cool concept. Plays well with the theme. This could be quite fun in a mobile environment.

I found everything with $5828 left over! For the most part, digging was enjoyable, though trying to click the different layers could be tedious at times. I think that some SFX would be nice, too :)

roofloorwall 2021-05-08 15:24

Digging in very deep areas is kinda tedious, but besides that it was a pretty fun game.

First of all: this is one of the nicest interpretations of the theme I have seen! Really interesting idea! Game is nice too, I played it for quite a long time (until I found everything).

Some points:

* Nice graphics! * It was a bit confusing to me that the large discoveries do not disappear after being unearthed (as the small ones do). * Gameplay was very relaxing initially, but turned slightly stressful (or work-like) later, when almost everything was discovered and I was basically clicking madly to find that last coin. ("That last coin" is figurative, the game started feeling worse more or less after I finished the three big discoveries.) * This coincides with my change of strategy: in the beginning I felt like someone digging an archaeologic site, carefully removing layers of earth as I followed some object. In the final part I was more like drilling, going deeper at rnadom points. * By the way, that exposed t-Rex tail in the beginning of the game, and the fact that it gradually goes to lower layers worked beatifuly as a concealed tutorial. Beautiful design! * As others said, I think this could work well as a mobile/touch game. * The coloring of the layers was confusing sometimes ("hmm, is this color above or below that one?") * Whenever the borders of many different layers were close to each other, this made playing on that part of the screen fell worse. It was difficult to understand how deep I was, it was almost impossible to dig as a proper archaeologist (and instead I just clicked rapidly). Maybe if you require a certain distance between borders (like, to require a gentle digging slope, forbidding "deep wells"). * I suspect that the game would work better if there were less layers. (Better in the sense that it would tend to feel more like in the beginning of the game, which I liked more.)

Thanks for making this game! A nice one!

Fun game! Liked the variety of mosiac and dino bones. Felt less fun at the end, I had 48/48 minor and 9/11 major but couldn't get the final two, so just gave up after a lot of clicking and cleaning up of the majors (a bug?). Really nice work with the theme.

Reminds me about the game battleship "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battleship_(game)". You could turn this game out into a serious game for archeology. Where kids would learn how to search for some fossil. Since archeology is not a simple task.

Congratulations on your entry!
