I loved the art style and the combination of 3D and 2D elements. Great job!

nikos 2020-10-04 23:29

I love the art style and the audio(particularly the little "Bah!" the sheep says when jumping  ). I didn't figure out how to play or what the goal was. I presume it is to escape the loop, but I'm not sure. I somehow managed to get to level 3(the one with the buttons), but I don't know how I won the first 2.

lestat 2020-10-04 23:45

Awesome graphics. Cool concept. Fun and fits the theme. Good job!

ondy1985 2020-10-05 08:33

Nice game, had fun for a few minutes, then I got stuck. But that's not a flaw :-)

kazatan 2020-10-05 08:58

@quak Thanks I think it's becoming a style of mine - I really like 2d/3d crossovers too

@lestat Thanks! It would have been great to have had another few hours to polish an ending and more levels!

@nikos @ondy1985 Glad you enjoyed it. I've added a video walkthrough to this game page above if you want to see how to complete each level. Thanks for playing!

Nice game! very cool graphics and I like the concept. I don't like the inconsistent win conditions, and it seems to lead to trial and error problem solving since I didn't know what I was even trying to do. Would like to see more time spent on this! really good job.

kazatan 2020-10-06 08:27

@rhoff95 Yes, I get the issue with the win conditions. I got to a point on Sunday where I wanted to add more levels to really give some depth to the game, and in those you would have got a sense of the rules that are in play. The first few levels were always supposed to be a bit abstract because I wanted the design to ensure you tried everything later on. With more time they would have been polished up, and as I mentioned in the Dev Notes - feedback to the user was high on my agenda via some more emotions on Pete. Thankyou for playing and your feedback!

really enjoyed that. The graphics are top notch, really can't find anything to complain about! And the audio is just :ok_hand: loved it. Well done

avatargreggles 2020-10-06 15:36

Oh no! I get an internal server error when I try to play the HTML build of the game, can you let me know if you manage to fix it?

adil 2020-10-06 15:38

Graphics look polished, mechanics are very interesting I think, I believe that there are many ways to improve this project for release

kazatan 2020-10-06 15:51

@dom-harris Thankyou very much!

@avatargreggles Can you try again or try this link to the hosted web version: https://kazatangames.co.uk/projects/ld47/ I can still see it working for me - hopefully you can see it.

@adil thanks for the feedback 👍

avatargreggles 2020-10-06 15:57

Thank you so much! Hahaha! This is super cute! Love the lighting and the mix of 2D and 3D elements! Great job!

thewinrawr 2020-10-07 04:17

There's a lot of guesswork involved in this game, but to be honest I really enjoyed the process of trying everything until something works. I also love the 2d and 3d crossover, it has a very unique charm to it! I think the only part I got slightly annoyed by were the switches and the boxes - due to switch's very tiny height it's actually pretty hard to get the box to stay on the switch. Overall, nice game!

11thpenguin 2020-10-07 04:35

Wow, really clever idea, can see so much potential for more puzzles different objects, etc! At first I was just randomly trying things, but the more I played with it -- and reminded myself to focus on what I've got to work with and why those pieces are there -- I found it made a lot of sense. Like the 2D character interacting with a 3D world. Controls were a bit twitchy (maybe the objects needed to be a bit "heavier" so physics couldn't push them around so easily?) but overall a great entry!

candlesan 2020-10-07 05:17

Loved the art, the concept, the portals, the music and the sounds! The overal graphical style was fantastic. The mechanics I really wanted to like but I found myself a bit frustrated that it was a puzzle for which I wasn't always sure what the objective was.

unluckyninja 2020-10-07 10:00

Nice graphics and audio. But the puzzles are kind of obscure. The last puzzle is very difficult at stopping the ball from moving, Maybe you should increase frictions, or the box's mass (if it means to stop the ball). And making it easier to jump over one object would be better.

thecreator 2020-10-07 13:52

Really nice style of game, it did take me a hot second to figure out it was a puzzle game at first and not just having fun with boxes and portals :joy: the first ball puzzle was my favourite ♥

really nice game :D

kazatan 2020-10-08 08:10

@avatargreggles glad it worked for you and you enjoyed it!

@thewinrawr Yep, this is good feedback. It could do with a day's polish and a day's extra content! Funny you should mention the switch because most of the time when making games I have a rule of "make it difficult _after_ you've made it easy" but I don't think I applied that thought to the switch mechanic - probably in too much of a rush!

@11thpenguin I think there is definitely room to adjust the physics and the 'feel' of the movement. I think I settled on how it is because you can spend so long on that you run out of time for everything else! I'm a big fan of 2D/3D crossover and i'm happy with the way this one came out. Thanks 👍

@candlesan Thanks  I can understand that frustration. There were a few things I wanted to do to improve it but time was the enemy. More levels - where the 'rules' would become more obvious over time. And more feedback: to help players understand if what they're doing is helping progress the level.

@unluckyninja Yes, the last puzzle is a bit tricky. You can see when I recorded my video walkthrough above it actually took me several goes to get it right when I was trying to play it as if it was new to me! I take your point on the jump height - especially over the ball.

@thecreator Thanks! I too love a physics sandbox! I really wanted the end game screen to be one (with the 4 boxes) but I had to make more puzzle levels in the last bit of time on Sunday!

You get a big glorious “baa” from my side. This is an enormous improvement compared to your last game. I am thrilled to see how much the quality of your game development has increased! Your combination of 3D and pixel art is done well. The introduction creates the right mood. I also liked the tutorial showing the controls.

The game core itself has potential. I believe you can create interesting levels with this technique. I had little trouble getting the puzzle solved with the cube and ball. But it can be compensated with the right hints.

Here are some suggestions if you want to continue to develop this game:

* A UFO topic would be epic. You could let the UFO create the portals or the sheep would get dragged up by UFO at the end * Maybe changing the color of the portals would help the gamers, knowing where to put which object

I believe this would also be suitable as a mobile title. Congratulation :)

kazatan 2020-10-12 08:17

@schwede thank you for your feedback  Your points are very fair.

I wanted to create more levels which would showcase the rules and I wanted an ending scene where you'd found a flock of sheep but time ran out. I actually hadn't put much thought into story - which isn't surprising given the short time to develop - but an extra-terrestrial plot would be good, yes!

If I return to this game to continue it I will definitely make some changes to help the gamers understand the puzzles 👍
