LD49 — Unstable

ALL PLANED by Sirkovitch 2021-10-05T15:45:48Z

Brilliant! The music, visuals, and style are so good. Very well done.

Gameplay wise it was fun. Sometimes it would feel like i didn't have much control though, regarding altitude and if you have an engine sputter out at the wrong time.

Tol by Decentsauce 2021-10-05T20:44:38Z

Really like the way the fan looked, a nice mellow aesthetic. Music is great, creates a nice soothing feeling.

The cat reminds me of lbp.

The cogs that refresh your spin initially came off as sawblades to me which made me avoid them.

Puzzled Love by Yaroslav Kravtsov 2021-10-05T21:12:36Z

Great art and music.

Telling a visual novel through a puzzle like that is genius.

Unlevel by NicMagnier 2021-10-07T22:52:45Z

Really well done and polished.

I didn't like it when the level would tilt out of the camera.

Unstable Landing by schwede 2021-10-19T22:03:52Z

pretty fun, something like a speedometer or a more zoomed out camera could be nice. You'd probably need more hazards if you did add those things though.

Trembling Tomb by EternalXP 2021-10-07T21:18:23Z

Nice idea and fun.

It feels like an open ended, collectathon, take on the escape sequences from ori or metriod.

The game plays well but it could do with of tuning to give it some extra juice.

RAGE HORSE by SlickRamen 2021-10-06T09:18:20Z

Brilliant. Great art, sounds, and world. I love that cover image.

Only wish it was longer.

Plains In The Sky by TevasLiutauras 2021-10-06T09:29:21Z

You could probably turn this into a real game. Brilliant!

precAIRious by rumor 2021-10-05T16:20:52Z

Pretty funny concept, nice graphics, and well done flying physics.

My main gripe is that the camera feels pretty disorienting.

The Butterfly effect by Shakedimus 2021-10-14T21:35:24Z

I was a bit confused, to how my butterflies guide the wind. Overall, this is a cool and unique idea.

Maybe, rubegoldberg inspired, puzzle elements could be an interesting direction to take this.

The Butterfly effect by Shakedimus 2021-10-14T21:57:58Z

@shakedimus yeah, thanks.

Help, I cast the wrong spell! by JUSTCAMH 2021-10-05T16:55:12Z

Amazing.

Everything is really well done. The only gripe I have is that some levels felt too difficult, but maybe that's just me.

The Lunatic by Samuel Fine 2021-10-05T11:20:50Z

Nice graphics.

Capture.PNG

I'd say it's an interesting concept but it lends itself to timing, and from that waiting.

Which is not something most ppl are interested in, when playing platformers.

Wilson's Lab by Nebrazif 2021-10-06T09:10:43Z

Really good. You could probably make this into a real game.

Something that I found annoying was how the camera would zoom in on the ball spawn every time you restart a level.

PRISM by Gat 2021-10-05T10:14:11Z

Graphics are really good. That animation at the start is just perfect.

Sometimes asteroids would glitch out and stay on the screen after I passed them.

I didn't understand the point in coolant.

Volcano Containment by Morris 2021-10-05T11:29:07Z

Pretty fun.

I'd say the music feels a bit off. Doesn't really match the intensity of jumping from rock to rock in a erupting volcano.

Natura Disastia by Dedjo0 2021-10-05T13:15:41Z

Really good and unique combat system.

Awesome graphics. Great music.

Some transition effects and sounds would help when switching from overworld to battle.

Unicycle Balancing by Adiwan 2021-10-05T12:33:49Z

Good concept.

Maybe you could add different objects that fall the longer the game goes on.

Contact Nesigur by Trexxak 2021-10-07T23:23:19Z

The art is so nice. Such an original style.

Wizards On The Rocks by alpharock6 2021-10-04T23:31:39Z

Really cute and simple game. Graphics are very nice. Everything felt right.

If I had any gripes, I'd say it could improve in giving options for skill expression.

In Search Of Water by Tom Stephenson 2021-10-05T21:19:28Z

Brilliant atmosphere.

Some jump buffer would've been nice.

Banana Jack by Moritz14 2021-10-05T13:27:23Z

Great concept.

There could be a better narrative explanation for why boxes falling means you lose

The Nuclear Ball by 0X_VOID_X0 2021-10-05T18:33:44Z

Nice simple refreshing game. Alot of content.

Runtime Exception by FunkyHedgehog 2021-10-06T00:17:00Z

Nice crisp, original art style.

Stable Table by Diana Asadova 2021-10-05T08:54:12Z

Don't feel like I have much control over what happens.

Maybe if the blocks had a spawnpoint that moved around and you had to steer it a bit.

Snake Using Windows by Benjamin Halko 2021-10-05T12:55:37Z

Awesome.

I'm surprised my computer was ok with this. Usually norton flags everything as a virus.

It's All In Your Head by real_flamingicecubegames 2021-10-06T08:59:16Z

Amazing world building.

My main gripe is that there's not much benefit or affect from interacting with the characters you find.

This Is A Stable Game by crotonyl_alcohol 2021-10-19T22:36:23Z

That was pretty cool. I feel your front page doesn't do the game justice.

I had an anxious feeling while playing. It's as if you're in the dark and can barely see 2 feet in front of you. Cause you have to scour everything for glitch zones or risk falling into the abyss. Although I never lost much progress to falling by accident like that, thanks to your level design.

I'd say someway to view the glitch lands while in the normal world and vise versa would be nice.

This Is A Stable Game by crotonyl_alcohol 2021-10-20T21:16:59Z

@crotonyl-alcohol No I did use the cursor. What I meant by "someway to view the glitch lands" is a way to see the level geometry of the other side, by pressing a key or something.

So you would be able to see the platforms and walls of the glitch lands while still being in the normal world.

The reason for my anxious feeling was that I found it hard to be sure where a glitch zone was. It made me tip toe through the game as I wanted to slow down while searching for the glitch zones so I could focus. Otherwise, risk falling down.

This Is A Stable Game by crotonyl_alcohol 2021-10-21T08:16:05Z

@crotonyl-alcohol no I didn't think they way I felt was bad I just wanted to share my experience.

Trenchmouth by Mords 2021-10-05T10:34:24Z

Really nice graphics and mood.

Didn't really know what i was supposed to be doing though.

Angry Ape by orangutanrider 2021-10-05T12:45:02Z

I added a more in depth explanation of the charged jumping.

@hybridkin

Angry Ape by orangutanrider 2021-10-05T17:19:16Z

@gat

This is my friend's speed run. His time: 17.314

If the site isn't displaying it I've linked his and yours on the itch page.

Angry Ape by orangutanrider 2021-10-05T20:48:49Z

@gat he's TitanMasher and he's beat sub 17, check the itch page.

Angry Ape by orangutanrider 2021-10-05T21:40:43Z

@gat yeah that sucks, sub 17 is still insane though.

Angry Ape by orangutanrider 2021-10-06T08:10:23Z

@gat congratulations

Angry Ape by orangutanrider 2021-10-09T15:44:01Z

I've added an updated build, based on your feedback.

= New features:

There's a restart button (r).

Better explanations of controls.

The ability to punch using Lshift.

A small map update, remedying a leap of faith. This shouldn't affect the validity of any speedruns. It's out of the way of the route used.

The "feature" of no longer being able to use up as jump. The game doesn't control well if you do, so I'd like to force you to use space.

= Other stuff:

I would've added a charge indicator, but the code wouldn't work with me, in a way I liked.

A webgl build was another thing that should've been created. The way the art was imported made this not doable, not without redrawing or segmenting large portions of art.

I don't wanna spend too much time on the project, so I wasn't willing to get my hands dirty with these things. That's not to say I don't have intentions of expanding upon this idea, in the future.

Lab Run by mikeklubnika 2021-10-05T09:45:36Z

I beat it! Nice graphics. Frustrating but intense.

lab run.png

I found it be pretty funny aswell.

Moonpond by balduin 2021-10-06T00:01:35Z

the itch link returns a 404 error

Cargo Frog by Kobrasadetin 2021-10-14T22:06:33Z

I like the boat movement, wanted more frog action though.

Twin Tails Jetpack by ExpiredPopsicle 2021-10-05T16:05:30Z

Great amount of levels, nice art, reliably fun gameplay.

I would've liked to have the option of a camera that follows me instead of the on rails one. Maybe as a unlock at the end. It'd add some replay ability. There are high scores to chase, but I'm more of a speed run kinda guy.

CORE by StudioRightside 2021-10-06T22:49:14Z

Great. Good graphics and atmosphere.

Audio is also nice and satisfying.

I'd say the ammo mechanic incentivises gameplay were you want to avoid enemies more than attack them, so a dodge/dash would be nice.

CONTROLL by kartiz0l 2021-10-05T18:38:04Z

Really good. Really hard aswell... Damn.

Equilibrium by zSharpFire 2021-10-05T15:27:47Z

Cool.

I'd say the game kinda lends itself to spamming a bit which takes away from the skill of the game.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Hypercrastinate by PizzArt64 2022-04-05T01:30:50Z

funny take on theme.

gameplay doesn't really feel like procrastination though.

3 Days At Sea by JamieOK 2022-04-05T02:09:55Z

got to day 48, played twice, not sure how or if you can go further.

very visually appealing game, although i don't think the low poly life boat matches the style.

overall i liked it, my main gripe is that you use crashing wave sounds, but those are for beaches.
