The dynamite just never ends.
I like the idea of the game, it's fun and unusual. Visuals are decent, levels are fun. The only thing I don't really like is the movement, in my opinion it's a little bit slow. Hwever, overall it's amazing submission, well done!
Awesome game, awesome ending, very fun! Best game I've played so far!
really smooth game, i had fun with this! i love explosions and moving fast, this ticked both those boxes! The music is nice too, although kinda loud. Nice work!
Really awesome entry, I loved the level design around the never ending dynamite spell :)
Definitely unstable. I liked the dynamite jump mechanic & the comic style storytelling at the start.
I adore the art and the audio - they fit perfectly together. The gameplay was very fun as well; however, I couldn't get very far.
Now that is what I hope to see after game jams!! Really well put together and polishes. From the music, to the art style, story-telling and gameplay. The idea is really creative and character is soooo cute! Solid work hahaha!
Probably my favourite game so far
Amazing.
Everything is really well done. The only gripe I have is that some levels felt too difficult, but maybe that's just me.
Great entry. Epic music and presentation. A clever idea that felt fun to play. The animation principles for the character was on point, even with lowpixel art.
What a fun game! I really enjoyed how fast paced it was, the music fits it perfectly! I really liked the level design, I sometimes had to think and try over and over with the levels - but it wasnt neither too little or too hard. Just the right difficulty. The simplistic art style was also really nice - I maybe would have wished the color scheme changed for the second phase of the game. The character also got a little lost in the colors a few times. But overall really nice and fun, great work! <3
Love It! Just a great game even tho it crashed on me when it spawned a sh*t ton of dynamite at the end :D
Its quite impressive for a game jam game.
It was about 1/6 of the game when I expected it to finish, but every next level included some really new idea. The game looks perfect, even if you don't know that it's made in three days
Great game. I enjoyed it :)
Awesome idea! Basically makes you wanna rush but then the levels get puzzle like and you have to think about how to move :)
Clever and fun idea. It's a pity that humor category was disabled. The story is very fun for me. What at this game is unstable is jumps. I hate jumps on explodes which can kill you if you didn't pixel-hunt well. Can't pass first level after first spell cancelling. It looks impossible or just for super-luck. It's a pity that I can't know how game ends...
Love the music, and the gameplay. How would one confuse the door open spell with the infinite dynamite spell? :P
oooooh this one hooked me. A really clever concept executed with humor and challenge. I gasped when I realized they had executed the wrong spell a second time both because 1) i had assumed I had beaten it and 2) i get to play more levels! Got stumped a few stages later though
@skallywags @saintheiser @shellocity well aren't I a dope, there is a skip level feature but I failed to mention it in game or on the gamepage... **You can press ctrl+shift+S to skip a level** and you could even skip back to where you were if you'd like to play further.
@david-broz It was meant to do that, the intention was for a sort of explosion so big that the whole game just crashes and that's the end, tho in hindsight it does seem like a bug. Especially if you're on web, it sort of just freezes...
@mathgeek There's so many spells to remember and latin is hard man... But hey, the infinite dynamite spell did successfully unlock the door so it's clear where the confusion arose.
I can't belibe how much you squeezed int this one guys. Everything fitted so nicely together: music, visuals, challanges, humor. I can't overstate it enough how much I like this game. One thing I would add is some indication that the game has finished - it looked like it crashed.
this game needs to be on speedrun.com this is amazing job most fun game I played in ld49 I hope you can make a post jam :blue_heart:
@omarmobadr I'm very curious what you'd want to see post-jam? In my opinion, the game is complete
@justcamh it's true the game is complete but.... I don't know the mechanics were very fun to play so maybe a lot of more levels and some other story elements and you could make a successful steam release or at least you can port the game to mobile devices that would be cool
this is my opinion though
Dude, this is cool! Only I skip 1 level, not remember the name, maybe was level...7? 8? I couldn't get the big jump. The idea is funny and the comic-style story was so nice :) Thanks again for playing my game in your stream!
This game was so hard, it took me 61 minutes and 15 seconds to beat the whole thing (according to the speedrun timer, so probably more as that pauses when dead). This surfing on spikes level was f***ing frustrating that I almost threw my keyboard on the wall but so satisfying when I beat it.
I love the way story was told in this game. Please put up some more levels and a save system so I haven't to play through the whole game in one run and I'll throw some more money on it.
Loved this game. The funniest moment was absolutely when you reach the book for the first time. At that point I was like "hah that's funny, that was a cool game." I totally didn't expect there to be ANOTHER section of the game. Very SOTN-like haha.
I thought the surfing moments were extremely fun. They aren't particularly difficult be because it's tuned to have you just hold forward and you'll automatically surf on them. The hardest stage for me was the one where you needed to drop dynamite on the lock midair to the right, after running up the ramp. Once I got that timing down though, the rest fell in line.
This game was extremely well-made and paced. The concept was immediately understandable and engaging which help draw me into the game. And the cherry on top was the humor, especially how the 2nd chapter starts. Great job!
Really fun and funny game, controls are solid, graphics simple and pretty and music dynamic. Love the story, great job overall. You prolly should of not opted out of humor ;)
Hard but nicely polished game. Audio is on point, everything is dynamic; to summ it up, great job! One of the best game of this Jam I played so far, fits the theme perfectly!
Amazing entry from you as always. I reached the second edition book and I love this, but I'm kinda divided on it though. On one hand, I think it's a very good mechanic ( especially the second half when the dynamite comes out the other way and lends itself to allowing you to ride on the explosions ) and has been used to it's full potential, but on the other hand, it's a little too frustrating in parts. It was very confusing sometimes as to whether an explosion would kill me or let me rocket-jump ( explosion-jump ? lol ). And the nature of the dynamite meant that they would sometimes end up in places which would just kill me outright even if I did find myself doing the level correctly. As a result I kinda won some levels out of pure luck. When everything clicked though, this was amazing and very well-designed. The explosion effects were damn cool and the music sounded quite funny tbh considering the situation of the wizard. In fact, this game as a whole is damn funny ( Especially that ending ). Why'd you opt out of humour ? lol. None the less, great work on this. It's an awesome entry
That was a hell of a lot of fun! My first playthrough time is 16:06, when a freeze frame is the last one.
As a non platform player, I couldn't really get how to trigger the dynamite jump effectively and that was clearly a key mechanic. Other than that though, it was really funny and slick!
Thanks for playing our game on twitch Cam =] @clockmaker I really loved the music, it's a banger! Made repeatedly failing the levels as a n00b so much more enjoyable... The comics panels at the beginning were just adorable <3 Sorry I suck at platformers so couldn't get to the end but the mechanic is perfect for the theme and the game feels great!
So fun! You did a great job explaining the controls and mechanic to the player too.
Awesome game & amazing idea! Had a lot of fun playing it. Those last levels were a killer! Think the game itself just need a little optimisation felt like I had a little bit of lag at times (might have just been my mac though). Great Entry! :)
At first when I saw the first level I was like "No way you can control this chaos let alone design interesting levels for such mechanic". And I was so surprised and engaged with how fun it became. Then when I got to tome of canceling I thought "Damn that was fun, nice game" and then a new chaos appeared and everything repeated again. Great game and big plus for the story art.
Wow those last levels were HARD!!! I really enjoyed this game a lot! Great job on every aspect: From story telling to explaining mechanics from actual gameplay and art + music.
superb entry!
This was a wonderful entry. The graphics and sound were great, but honestly what impressed me the most was that you managed to create a great progression of levels with new features and difficulties without it ever getting impossible (frustrating, yes. Impossible, no).
I liked the quick restart and the humor was on point. I thought after the first tome that the game was over and that you ended on a joke, but then the game kept going, which was great.
The ending was abrupt, which was part of the humor, but like some others mentioned it seemed like it froze. Small thing.
Very good game! The whole ideia of the wrong spell with dynamites was awesome. The art, the upbeat music, also the timing for the "dynamite surfs" was very good! Great work!
Wow, this was an impressive game! Loved the music and the way you told the story between levels. The main mechanic(s) are very unique and the level design was clever. Very well done!
Dang that is a very cool mechanic and it's really thrilling when it feels like something is always chasing you. Well designed levels too. I think the explosions could be a little less punishing but still a really solid entry.
awww why you skipped out on humor? maybe so others would have a chance? haha great job man this was really fun, funny, challenging, innovative + a bunch of other adjectives! It's clever that just by changing the direction that the dynamite is thrown, you present a completely different challenge
10/10 HUMOR!!
Hilarious :D
Very sweeeeet game! I love this mechanic. This is unique approach to theme and you've done great!
The only thing I would change if colors of the player and dynamite. It blends with the background so sometimes it's hard to see what's going on. More distinguished look would be apprieciated.
I don't have much to say about this game because it is just... GREAT. Kudos!
Congratz on the score! You're pretty darn consistent at placing high :)
Congrats on 2nd place! It was truly an honor to stream it.
oh my god, this is quite fun game!!!!! Good Job ! Thankyou !
Congrats on 2nd place!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Congrats on the results!
congrats on 2nd place - it is a really great game. How did you make this so desctructive ? i mean the work that it destruct like in worms^^
Oh wow, it's like Worms on steroids. Really love this take on the platformer and some quite challenging puzzles. Really like the idea of adding in that timer for speed runs, this game is something that you could easily see being done in the speed run community if taken further. Really solid, just finished it now over on itch, congrats on the medals! Well deserved.
Really cool, and well-deserved placing! I really felt for the little wizard
Definitely took some trial and error to understand the "jump off of an explosion" mechanic, but once I did it was really satisfying to pull off. The gameplay inversion in the 2nd half was also a great surprise and really funny.
Sorry I didn't get a chance to rate during the jam! Really nice job!!
