This game is amazing. It is so well put together, has a fun story, beautiful music, fantastic visuals, and a unique gameplay style. Well done!

mertol 2024-04-15 12:52

The music, visuals and the atmosphere is really nice, bravo. Rhythm game controller are a bit counter intuitive, notes slides horizontally but controller are mostly vertical, maybe E,D,X,Alt kind of controller could be better. But the atmosphere is amazing, I would like to go to an adventure in this world for sure. Maybe you can go further by creating a small world and a small story, and use the rhythm game to fight with enemies. I am happy to play, bravo!

ravernt 2024-04-15 13:02

Awesome and super polished game! Graphics, audio, story, gameplay are all good. I also love wholesome take on the theme, where majority of the jammers made games about necromancers, rituals, eldritch monsters (including me lol). Great job!

suksu 2024-04-15 15:26

A fun and very polished game. Visuals and audio are amazing and the game plays well.

kaaren-tenson 2024-04-15 18:07

pretty good

dams333 2024-04-15 18:29

Amazing ! I like the Frogs ! So polished, the ambiance is very cool, very good job

altaf-creator 2024-04-15 23:44

Very awesome! Feels very polished. Frogs are cool, and the mood is on point in my opinion. The story is also very nice! I normally don't play rhythm games, but I really like this one!

I really liked it!

timo654 2024-04-16 04:50

Thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate it! It's nice to see people like our game.

I also made a small hotfix for a minor visual issue that could happen when unfocusing on the level end screen and also fixed a tiny issue with audio sliders.

Also, about controls: while it's not listed, WASD, IJKL and Arrow keys on keyboard and D-Pad and face buttons on controller are all valid inputs. We just decided to go with arrows for the visuals as they felt like they'd be understood the easiest across different input devices.

velvetlobster 2024-04-16 13:00

I love that this has voice over, quite lovely btw, I felt the voice volume a bit low though, but it was a nice touch. I feel this has a lot of potential in the humor aspect, like if you make the sounds real bad when you play it wrong and perhaps add some complexity in the act of playing a note, perhaps using pressure that can be read if you play with a controller or a touchpad like interface to produce the sounds, idk, it would make it a bit like trambone champ with lore. very nice art btw, resembles Mutazione a bit. btw, just a reminder your itch page has no link to ldjam website, I kinda guessed the url to get in here, found you in itch.

minjutin 2024-04-16 16:37

I really dig the artstyle, finding a rhythm game during any jam is always something to celebrate. Audio is nice and creates a great atmosphere, ALSO A LOT OF FROGS.

wigglypainter 2024-04-17 02:52

Love the art style and story😂 cute and funny! Good job!

ron88 2024-04-17 17:26

As always great art. Everything about the game gives me the vibes as if I am there inperson watching the fire. Controls are good :). FROGS FROGS FROGS

patrick-pang 2024-04-17 18:03

What an interesting background setting lol! Although I'm a sucker for audio games, it doesn't affect my enjoyment of it (it's right that the game has built-in difficulty selection lol). Also, I love the happy expression on the frog’s face when the button is pressed accurately!

sariiger 2024-04-18 09:40

As a rhythm game enthusiast, I absolutely loved this game! For some reason though I didn't seem to be able to get 100%, even though I didn't notice myself missing. Is there accuracy aside from just missing/hitting? But I managed to get 99% on normal on both levels.rhythm1.pngrhythm2.png

konstantinreed 2024-04-18 10:37

Cool rhythm game with lore. I wish the music was more upbeat and dynamic, but perhaps the game just didn't fit my current mood. Good job!

timo654 2024-04-18 14:41

@sariiger The max score for the first level is 1895 and for the second it's 2175. The way the grading works is that each "great" hit gives you 10 points, makes the frog smile and spawns the flame particles. A "good" hit gives you 5 points and a miss plays a sound effect and makes the frog sad. I think you might've gotten two "goods", which is why you didn't get 100%. It is a bit hard to tell though, the feedback for "good" hits could've been better. I'm actually having trouble myself getting 100%, but I do know it should technically be possible. Also, after 20 combo, you get +5 points per correct note, and holds give 20 points on top of the initial 5-10.

@konstantinreed yeah, we tried to go with a song that would fit "summoning", so it's not very upbeat.

treehuggerbear 2024-04-18 15:18

This game was really fun! The menu felt very polished and professional which I appreciated. I loved that there were two difficulties. I was able to get 100% on the easy difficulty but not quite are the normal difficulty. I think this game is definitely worth expanding!

the1 2024-04-18 15:23

I'm not really into rhythm games(which is also proven by my score), but I really liked this one. And frog theme! The theme alone is a thumbs up for me.

mortith 2024-04-18 15:47

I like frogs, i like rhythm games = i like this game! I thought that it was super difficult at first but i was just dumb and i had no focus on the navigator tab so notes were not registered ^^ once i figured it out it was way smoother, i really like it

digitaliliad 2024-04-18 15:49

I am bad at rhythm games, even as a musician, but I really enjoyed this one. Loved the frog designs. Great job, team! Keep it up <3

vilmantas 2024-04-18 15:50

I love games that incorporate music like that. Really nice feel to the whole game and the inputs feel very good.

helviett 2024-04-18 15:55

Congrats on submission, the art is great!

tommes 2024-04-18 16:02

Love the game, nice story, looks really finished! Had a lot of fun beating the normal mode!

roroto-sic 2024-04-18 16:24

rain will come !! Love the art style and the little story ! congrats ! Capture d’écran 2024-04-18 182140.png

lllarso 2024-04-18 17:37

Fun game! I like that you could choose between difficulties and I find "normal" quite challenging. It´s cool that you can get "different" endings based on your performance. I think a nice little touch would be, if the flames (when you hit a perfect score) would be animated like the background fire. Only after reading your comment, that there are perfect and good hits I realised why I could not get the 100%. Maybe a little more feedback between good and perfect would make the game even better.

I really like the design of the frogs. Nice touch that you can see little frogs in the settings. :)

jaxah 2024-04-18 20:13

Great little game, I can see it being a great hit with the rhythm game community! Only issue for them is that 2 levels is not enough, but then again 102 levels isn't enough either. Great work and well done!

zimny11 2024-04-18 20:58

Great game! Even that I'm not particularly good at rhythms game and had no issue with this one. The music was nicely synchronized with keys moving and the rhythm is also well made, plus pressing is generous, so it made it a nice experience to play. Love the music, love the art, wish for more, well done!

rexagon 2024-04-18 21:40

This game is brilliant, you did a really good job!

natablanco 2024-04-18 21:43

Nice frogs,I like them.I also liked the way how music was involved.

borabee 2024-04-19 01:15

Very cute idea and nice execution! The fire animation is fire :fire: :fire:

saryah 2024-04-19 10:29

Nice twist on the theme. Love a good rhythm game. Would like a bit more visual feedback on the notes otherwise, solid entry!

freshd 2024-04-19 17:39

I really like the art and music. It's nice that you included different levels of difficulty. "Easy" is perfect for me who has the responsiveness of a stone. Overall a very nice experience! Good job!

naplz98 2024-04-19 18:27

image.png I tried both difficulties, very fun, as an osu player I loved the game, the idea is great and the frogs very cute haha. I didn't get good accuracy though and ended up summoning a fish :(. Very good game guys!

braktheman 2024-04-19 18:30

Music mechanics work great! Felt pretty good and the timing felt responsive for a rhythm game. Nice story, good music, just a game that works on many levels.

Only criticism I would have is sometimes the charting felt like I wasn't playing the actual music. Would have been a little nicer if repeated notes lined up on the same arrows but I know that's a bit challenging when dealing with only 4 lanes.

Overall I had fun and the team did a fantastic job. Congratulations!

mooyett 2024-04-19 18:41

Really nice entry, as an upper neighbor said that would be even cooler if it followed the music lines a bit more. But that's a very cute one, and nice interpretation of the theme!

teddyreid 2024-04-19 18:45

Came for the cute froggy art, stayed for the strangely beautiful music and odd atmosphere. A really good entry. Art and sound obviously top notch, the notes diagram was implemented really well, and the beats align properly with the song which is usually what ruins LD rhythm games!

Great work.

dissonance-generator 2024-04-19 18:49

The voiceover! Niiice! And the squeaks when you miss a note! A fun touch!

The musical interactivity here is fun! though it doesn't entirely feel like I'm in control of it? You've come up with a different approach to providing musical interactivity with a limited number of inputs from what my team came up with. I love the creativity here.

And the ending! Or, at least, the ending I got! That poor fish! As a musician, you'd think I would be better at rhythm games!

nomus 2024-04-19 18:59

Loves the cinematic, we also did one but couldn't fit the voice so that would be in another game jam, loved the voice, cute frogs and cute ambiance, music is soothing and cool to play along, very nice entry The normal mode was pretty tough but cool to beat

lenne 2024-04-19 19:31

Really enjoyed playing this. Interesting take on the theme and felt rather atmospheric. I liked that there were multiple difficulties, but as others have said, would have liked the notes to follow the pitch of the flute a bit, as well as the rhythm.

I accidentally stumbled across the music select screen, which was a really nice touch. The message on that screen disappeared a bit too quickly so I wasn't sure of the controls. (That's a very minor nitpick though) Overall great job!

timo654 2024-04-19 19:37

@Lenne yeah, I wasn't sure how long the music select guide should stay on screen for. I wanted it to be there for long enough for people to read, but short enough so you can see the entire background without any distracting UI elements.

skyler-newsome 2024-04-19 20:09

Well done! The music is entrancing, the art really adds to the overall mood and vibe combined with the music. This was my first rhythm game outside of guitar hero way back in the day, and it was a blast!

schwede 2024-04-19 21:06

Thanks for joining the stream today and giving us a glimpse of your game!

A beautiful music skill game that brings you a bit closer to the world of frogs. Congratulations on the submission!

koolruz 2024-04-19 22:36

Thanks for submitting your game to the stream! I had a bunch of fun, and I was shocked that I only had to retry the last level once!

I loved the "wrong summon" ending, and the music was great - Overall, really well made entry!

jvdwijk 2024-04-20 00:05

Cute game! I got the bad ending, but I like the idea of doing a rain ritual to summon the Tiktaalik, my mind went straight to some sort of rain dance :joy:

If you want to watch my playthrough again, you can find it again on the vod https://youtu.be/9X9SR_20PuQ

dasilvacontin 2024-04-20 10:07

Thank you lots for sharing, it was a wholesome experience, fantastic art, mood, narration

rincs 2024-04-20 15:41

This was really fun, I summoned the wrong thing the first time, but I managed on the second (on easy) XD. That was great!!

Screenshot 2024-04-21 003757.png

papaver 2024-04-20 20:28

Cool voice acting and cute graphics. I like the songs and the patterns we had to play along with it. I was a bit distracted by the flute sounding a bit flat to my ears, making me think I hit the wrong key all the time. But the audio does nicely fit the frog theme!

I tried a couple of times, and now my hand hurts haha ;) And it just started raining here!

Well done!

sodagummy 2024-04-21 01:14

The art and audio are really well done! This was a really cute rhythm game! I love the aesthetic and overall vibes of the game. Sometimes it felt like the notes coming didn't quite match the music and it threw me off a little, but it was still fun to play none the less! Overall great work!

mongoose-59 2024-04-21 02:01

great job! its amazing how much a proper intro and outro can do to put really bring a game tougheter, it just feels complete, and the art is great

nadia-pixel 2024-04-21 08:58

I tried in different browsers but to didn't work. It was 65 score and nothing changed whenever I did press arrow or not. Overall great entry!

timo654 2024-04-21 10:25

@nadia-pixel what didn't work exactly? The audio or pressing buttons? I haven't had anyone report an issue like this before. I know that audio may not work for some people in the Web build, but the native Windows or Linux version should work. If you're on OSX, then I don't have builds for that because any builds I attempt to do for it don't seem to work on actual machines.

jerem-watts 2024-04-21 11:44

Sorry again about the confusion with which author did which game! Thank you so much for bringing me this wonderful piece of light-bringing entertainment ~✨ https://youtu.be/2YhvNNlSJ78

tucan 2024-04-21 23:50

This was fun! Like guitar hero but with a recorder... and to summon an ancestor! Good game!

tetracold 2024-04-22 04:46

The art is really cute here, I love the lil frog dudes and the environment is really nice, the atmosphere you built is great! I also thought the voice acing was pretty solid too

I am not super good with rythm games so I appreciate that you included an easy option lol, it was fun!

really good entry!

lisek-gagatek 2024-04-22 09:09

Nice, I've summoned Tiktaalik! The music adapting to the notes you play is very well implemented and makes this experience a lot of fun. It's funny to hear this messed up notes in the middle of playing. It also helps with realtime feedback for the player, which is always appreciated in rhythm games.

The voiceover was a really good addition to introduce the lore. Its mix could use some more work though, it's very quiet and not that clear.

coleslaughter 2024-04-22 23:48

[Thanks for submitting your game to stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2124979046?t=04h48m04s)

I'll have to try it out again at some point to see that good ending!

torte478 2024-04-23 16:59

Beautiful music! Nice and polished game

nsadie 2024-04-27 17:08

It was a fun game! First tried on easy, which was easy, normal was a lot more of a challenge for me!

wolfier 2024-04-27 17:53

I don't play a ton of rhythm games so this is a bit difficult for me, especially when I screw up a note and then I'm just behind so I screw up like 10 more notes until the song slows down.

I think you should change the color of the long notes cause the first time I didn't notice they were long notes.

frozenfire92 2024-04-29 21:51

Really well done! The difficulty was pretty good too with some nice pathing of the notes  Keep on making games!

ava-skoog 2024-05-02 21:00

Väga hea! Love me a tiktaalik.

Enjoyed this. As a rhythm game I guess it's nothing really new but the premise/story and the type of music really set it apart and do a lot for the mood.

The setting is very pretty and atmospheric. Nice colours, and the fire and night go well together with the drums and sombre flute. Yet there was also some humour with the false notes and the "wrong creature" I managed to summon on my first try :')

Little details like that add to the polish but so do the various options. I saw you had delay settings as well but after it got all out of sync on web I decided just to try the native build and it worked great.

I'd've liked a third difficulty setting. It felt weird that not every note from the flute was accompanied by a key to press even on the harder one. In a way that actually made it more difficult, since I wanted to press but couldn't.

Overall super nice and fun. Really well done!
