It looks like one of those arcade games that I played when I was little, I was temped to insert a coin in my computer to play :)

Even if the game is not fully complete what I've seen is really good and has a lot of potential, great job :)

Nice, very Ninja Gaiden!

Really nice aesthetic and the mechanics seem cool. Even though it was over scoped what you have is a solid foundation.

Oh Jesus, I clicked on the wrong tick boxes duing submission on the allowed rating categories and basically blocked myself off of every category. @muriel @rashcan @caveman54 would you be so kind to vote again?

Cool aesthetics! Love the retro vibe, it fits this game really well. I didn't seem to be able to use the summon abilities in the first level though, the second level was fun to use them with but a level where you could use everything without the tutorials would have been nice, but maybe that was just out of scope for this project? Either way, still very solid product, liked the controller support a lot. Good job!

It's nice to look at, and ambitious. Ultimately it seems too unfairly hard, but does feel exactly like a retro arcade game - both the good and bad aspects.

I died a lot and had fun doing it!

herryfabien 2024-04-26 21:08

One of the few game that made me says "it's already over ?" ^^ It has this kind of retro feeling even into the difficulty where a lot of thing are just expected to be hard but are still leading you toward progression

Wow, this really is impressive, the Ninja Gaiden original gameplay is clearly recognizable!

The music, the graphics, the animation, the sound FX ... everything is spot-on (except maybe the jump sound, a little bit too distracting!). You did a really great job here, it's so rare to see a game labeled as retro / NES ... which is actually faithful to the real thing!

Keep up the good work, there are only two levels and that's too bad, but if there had been 10 or even 20, I think I would have (tried to!) played through all of them!

There were minor glitches that you might already have spotted (like the vertical scrolling sometimes being jerky), but overall it's pretty polished.

More levels, more enemies, and pits (you need them to be truly Ninja Gaiden :) ) , this is what we want !!!

Very nice game but Im unable to get trought the first level, it took me so long time because there is always some ninja that I dont notice at first and then it demolishes me, nice game tho, good job, keep it up guys!

I really liked the pixel-art style you used for this game! The gameplay felt very smooth and the distribution of enemies felt reasonable. I kind of wish the ninjas at the beginning of the game moved a bit slower maybe, so you have more time to process what is going on when you are still getting used to the controls.

You absolutely nailed the retro feel. The art is great and the attacks felt nice. There may only be 四大, but they were well-balanced and all have their uses. I actually liked the difficulty. My only complaint is that the movement/platforming was a bit basic. As a ninja I kind of wanted some more ways to move around (e.g. walljump, crouch, roll, dash, etc.) That said, I had a great time replaying this and trying not to take damage. Nice job overall!

Great job, I enjoyed playing this and it had an authentic retro feel to the sprites. I played both v1.1 and 2.0, and the music + sound effects really add a lot to the game making it a lot more fun to play. I feel like the difficulty was pretty bang on as well. I found the horizontal move was a bit laggy and didn't let me turn as fast as I wanted to. Nothing major, but I would work on that to have a snappier controller.

Really great job! Good luck.

Really cool retro vibes! The collision boxes are a bit too punishing for me :) but I am very bad at platformers, so take that with a grain of salt.

Super fun aesthetic this one provides, really do dig the art and music for it! It's not overly complicated, just takes a while to get. Very fun entry!

Game description promises Ninja Gaiden, I received Ninja Gaiden  Nice retro esthetics, awesome sound and quite big challenge!

shess 2024-05-03 13:55

Such a beautiful retro feel to the game it almost makes me miss my Ninja Gaiden days. Almost. I'm not subjecting myself to that horror ever again >_> Okay but for real though, this game can be brutal at times, but in a way fighting with the controls also matches the spirit it so thoroughly emulates, so in a way it brings everything together.

kobato-games 2024-05-03 23:54

Really cool game. Not very good at these sorts of games, so I never got past the first stage, but still had fun. My one question was how did you include the theme -- was it applied to summoning elements?

exofrenon 2024-05-04 00:36

@kobato-games yes, it happens in the second stage

kobato-games 2024-05-04 01:15

Thanks @exofrenon. Just didn't get far enough in.
