Good take on the redaction of the cards, its pleasant to read and got the "dark souls item description" kind of vibe! I would still appreciate a bit more unity on the UI but otherwise good entry

I had a lot of fun playing it for a while. It's interesting how the results of certain actions were affected by my profession, and I could see there being a LOT of secrets that most people wouldn't find without playing for hours.

This is a really cool concept and I had lots of fun. The music fit the setting and the card design really well.

I felt that in most cases where I felt I was making the best decision I was still having a negative outcome. After 6 or so playthroughs my record was 22-years. I think this game will really benefit from incorporation of a little bit more feedback around decision making.

Hello There,

I loved this game, one of my favorites so far in the jam. The art was breath taking and the story was a lot of fun. I played this game on stream with my community allowing them to vote with me. If you are turning this into a long term project, I think introducing a party game concept would be a great idea, or even integrating something like twitch into it. Maybe even people voting from their mobile devices.

The thing I think you could work on/add is music and sound design to amplify the gameplay. Also maybe a bit more attention to background art/detail.

This game was fun, fit the theme great and has humor as well. Amazing work all around.

I really liked the idea and the theme. The mood and the humor are excelent and it feels like a nice puzzle to live the longest possible.

Even though, many times feel like the outcome of the selected card was purely random, which contradicts the mechanic of the choice. As another comment suggested, getting feedback around your choices will help to make choices feel meaningful and understanding the hidden mechanics of the game.

Couldn't open google drive in my area.

Could you upload to itch.io maybe? Really want to play this game

This is very fun!

I love card game. Love pick 3's. Love roguelikes. This is a very nice blend of those!

The one thing that I think would improve the game is a a little more clarity on what the choice RNG might be. The same choices don't yield the same outcomes, so it's difficult without a lot of plays or a guide to learn how to make smarter decisions.

I really like the stories that can be told through the branching. Some of them make for a good laugh! Good game all around.

It was really intriguing and exiting. It´s a nice concept for a mobile game. Great job!

Really creative idea. I played through this way more times than I expected. The casual gameplay and quick runtime made it easy to keep justifying "one more round". I never managed to surpass my first run, which survived until the mid-40's. Sometimes the outcome of a chain of events felt strange in the context of the cards selected so far, like picking blacksmith and then immediately chopping off your hand with an axe and then dying. But I get that the outcomes were probabalistic and overall it was really fun and felt cohesive. The graphics on the cards were solid as well, really nice work guys!

Simple but fun game. I don't know if the choices and outcomes and resulting karma actually had any impact, but I more than once did I get the same card in two sequential rounds, with both a positive outcome, which felt a bit like cheating for easy karma (although I might've just been lucky). While this was fun to play, it did feel like it was purely random, which makes it less of a game and more of a random story generator. It does have a nice atmosphere and the available options, accompanying texts and resulting stories were fun. I'm glad I was less at risk of death penalties, being lured by witches or terrible accidents with deadly tools during my own childhood!

The idea was okay, and the visuals is good. I don't really understand the rules, and every thing felt a bit random. Overall an okay little jam game.

I think you are officially my first unreal engine 5 game!

Some technical notes: The download size is pretty big for a small game, not sure if that is just due to the engine and performance was a little bit sluggish on my laptop.

It was a little bit hard to determine what the outcomes would be, which I think is kind of the point, but I would sometimes get the same cards which would lead to different outcomes. This makes it feel pretty random and I can basically choose any card as I don't know what the outcome will be and can't learn based on a previous run.

It was not obvious to me what the counter in the top right was, I think it was your age? But I only figured that out after the game.

Still, I had fun, the cards are nice to look at and the writing was good!

suchista 2022-04-07 13:29

It was really fun! I liked trying out different stuff. I'm not so sure about the random outcomes tho. I would like more deterministic and entangled results :) The entry is still solid.

Thank you to all of you for the great feedback so far! Obviously, we are reading points of possible improvements as well and think through them, how we could improve it for this game or in future projects.

@nsadie Thanks for the feedback regarding the download size. We tried to focus more on the game and added a big feature on the last day which led to the size going up. Thanks to a bit of buffer time, we managed to go down to the current size though, before our effort we were above 600MB, so I think we were still able to yield good results in that short time. Regarding performance it's hard to optimize anything in that short amount of time, but we still hope you had a nice time with it.

Nice job on the UI, visuals and texts! The game runs well even on a UW screen.

Gameplay wise, it felt a bit too random to me, I didn't really have any way to inform any decision, and was not quite sure what karma does. Also, I think it would be great if you couldn't have the same choice twice in a row, even if it was quite fun to spend my whole life trying to learn to read and randomly succeeding and failing haha.

Good job!

zimny11 2022-04-09 18:28

That was a lot of fun! Great game. Lesson number one: do NOT learn how to write :P The game feels a bit too random (or maybe I'm missing something), beside that awesome job!

riley9 2022-04-09 18:58

haha this was harder than i thought! in my best run i barely made it over 30 (i turned myself into fabric lol). charming little game! i like the illustrations on the cards and the little stories behind them <3 i could immerse myself easily. it didn't felt too random to me - tthat's just how lucky or unlucky a life can be :)

sofignedova 2022-04-09 21:51

Thank you for a great experience! It's a pity, sometimes all the cards were generated, which is most likely to kill. It's sad. You can collect an interesting plot from the selection cards! This is going to be a great game! It would be great if you continued! Visually very nice and without bugs! The authors are great fellows.

shess 2022-04-10 14:13

Awhh, just how cute can this game be. I mean, it still whooped my ass (I barely lasted till mid-twenties on my most successful run, I really should try again), but I loved the micro-scenarios this game generates. Sure, sometimes choices aren't that streamlined or even get repeated, but hey, I tried learning programming several times irl, too :D The art is impossibly adorable.

atzederserbe 2022-04-10 16:23

@shess We are so glad you liked it :-)

paulhocker 2022-04-12 02:24

nice mood and setting for this game. it was very random and i did not feel like i had much control over things. perhaps being able to hold onto a card for later. thanks for making the game.

ehon 2022-04-16 20:54

Really cool idea and execution! The gameplay was addicting as well, I tried many times but barely survived till my teenage years, haha. Middle ages were hard times :D

thecritterscove 2022-04-20 20:45

The concept is fun and the art style is cute. Unfortunately the balance is off. I tried playing farmer and 5 times in a row, I died at 6. I also managed to be accused of witchcraft regardless of what family I came from. Was that more of a karma thing? The farthest I made it was 24 and that was on my first try. So replaying and adapting my decisions to what family I came from could not compete with luck. Some more transparency on how these events work could really help make this game more fun.
