I love this! Easily one of my favorite entries so far. I found a "LD41" graffiti in the world :D

jiukka 2018-04-24 12:00

i like well the mixing tag and survive but i think that game lack of story for return him interesting

nander 2018-04-24 13:13

Fun combination of mechanics, but moves too slow for my liking. I love the concept though.

sun-parlor-studios 2018-04-24 13:27

Are the graffiti tags actually networked? That would be way cool!

Anyway, even though it's a "survival" game, I don't feel much need to survive; maybe because I didn't play for long enough? The game is a bit too slow for my liking, but I like the concept quite a bit!

My real complaint with the graffiti tags is that it's not very well defined where you CAN and CANNOT brush, so you start on something but then find out your canvas is not big enough.

Overall, a fun interpetation of the theme and fun looking graphics (:

k1mpp4 2018-04-24 13:36

@Sun-parlor-studios yes, the graffiti tags are networked, and that was the main point of the game. Since everything in the environment is procedurally generated in the first build, @nander the navmesh bugs out quite often and makes moving through certain places stupidly slow. We're sorry for the inconvenience, but still hopeful you enjoyed the game.

sun-parlor-studios 2018-04-24 13:45

@K1mpp4 That's way cool! Good job guys (:

thibautpierron 2018-04-24 13:45

There is a real mood in that game but its a bit slow for me too. It miss a real goal or a good tutorial or a scripted start to understand well. I really enjoyed graphic! Good job

I especially liked the mood and graphics work in the menu scene. After walking for some time, I could not really find a way to go through the long fence, but this might very well be the intended idea. The hunger did not really seem to be a problem, but maybe I was just good at finding those pieces of meat. The controls could use some tweeking. Good job!

nander 2018-04-24 20:40

@K1mpp4 ha. It looked like a purposeful design decision, so you did at least manage to hide away a 'bug' as a design decision xD.

there are a lot of very polished elements in the game: the camera controls, the start menu, the day-night cycle, the online-aspect of the graffiti and the option to jump to a grid position. Atmosphere wise one on the top entries I've seen and with an interesting indirect multiplayer aspect, the one thing that holds it back is that there is not really much to do in the world. Exploring the gratifies could be fun, but right now there are not that many and they are somewhat limited by the wall sizes. Still: I applaud you for this innovative exploration of the concept.

Atmosphere in this game was soooo epic. Walk alone in the city and search for another graffity of real people that maybe play this game right now is awesome. Remindes me Long Road movie. Found the place near one of the campfrie. Place was all colored. No food near and then I realize that can do only one thing. I write my Name and Died as a hungry lonely artist! ten sadness out of ten. Awesome! GG!

This game was really atmospheric - whoever did the voiceover did a great job!

Although there's not much gameplay here it's impressive what you managed to achieve in the time. Procedural generation, decent lighting, asynchronous networking? Massive props for putting that all in and still making the thing look good and play well.

Easily in my top 3 games played so far!

mrerdalural 2018-04-25 08:31

Very cool idea!! There wasn't many messages to discover yet. I will revisit this one later on!

k1mpp4 2018-04-25 08:37

@mrerdalurar Yeah, the gameplay value is hugely based on the community of people drawing things. We personally would love to see every wall filled with pictures about people's gameplay and feelings.

leorototo 2018-04-25 13:18

Just, awesome... Amazing realisation, fu**ing good mood. First I wasn't really inspired: 2018-04-25 15_06_13-Ludumdare41.png

Then i took some looks around to see other's drawing, and do my own. Here is my "All mighty sun above a quiet blue see" : 2018-04-25 15_12_30-Ludumdare41.png

I litteraly died for it !

Very good job guys, it was nice to play, this is the kind of game you want to discover when you play Ludum Dare's games.

Take a look at our racing puzzle game if you want : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/build-the-road-jack

And keep doing nice stuffs like that !

lerpish 2018-04-25 14:27

Really solid entrance nice grafics and fun gameplay only had a problem with finding the meat

juju 2018-04-25 14:42

I love the look of the game. Really into those retro or retro-looking camera effects, which you seem to achieve with an ortho camera. Painting in games is always a fun time, too.

0uicmoi 2018-04-25 15:19

As promised on the stream, I painted my name on several buildings :D The atmosphere, the idea, the graphics, the audio...man this game is on point! I can see so many possibilities in the long run (lead people thought the city by drawing arrows, paint riddle, etc) Great job !

k1mpp4 2018-04-25 16:15

Fixed paint surfaces not always updating to the server

Fixed path finding glitching out in some areas of the level

Player character no longer obstructs painting

ghost-pandora 2018-04-25 16:49

Very nice concept, it was fun to see people's drawings and the camera system is awesome, great job!

anudin 2018-04-25 21:55

Amazing entry. Atmosphere is so good that I actually thought I would play such a game as a full release. it made me realize again that I really don't care about graphics if the whole package works well together. Also the turning effect on a camera without perspective distortions? That's insanly cool. Gameplay was really lacking though which I can accept given what it is. I would maybe add an option to always follow the cursor so I don't have to click all the time. Great job on this!
