The link doesn't have the files in it.

markd 2018-08-14 19:15

Download page error 404, seems your link is down.

jofiredragon 2018-08-14 19:35

404 for me too

earnso 2018-08-14 19:37

I think you have to select published under the edit page on itch.io if must currently be at saved, so only you can see it.

mrsylar59 2018-08-14 19:37

The page redirects to a 404, can you notify me when the game is up, please?

fireyoyo 2018-08-14 19:59

sorry, apparently there was a problem with Dropbox and the download link wasn't working because of that, it should be working now, thanks for your patience, Please enjoy the game

realmar 2018-08-14 20:16

mr34 2018-08-14 20:18

@ben-penwell @markd @jofiredragon @earnso @mrsylar59 @realmar try the game now it's working

riperieri 2018-08-14 20:29

Great game, very good first entry! Good use of the theme, it definitely makes the gameplay stand out from a regular top down shooter. My only complaints are that the game doesn't have much structure - it doesn't get noticeably harder, and it could do with some kind of wave system to break it up a little. Got to 6:41 with 1546 points before my stamina ran out. Cool that it's a little hard to shoot the homing missiles, adds some challenge getting rid of them so you can focus on the other stuff.

I liked the graphics preset - though your pretty starfield background kind of contradicted it. Really good music too, fits the mood.

(The exit button doesn't seem to work at the end either, but that's not too important. I can just play forever ;) )

fireyoyo 2018-08-14 20:38

thank you @riperieri for the comment and the kind words <3 i agree that the enemy spawning system could be a bit better, of course most of the mechanics could be a bit better implemented and we hope to work more on the game and polish it and add new features in the future if possible

oh, and we just fixed the exit button bug, you're free to go now :D

noam 2018-08-14 20:38

Fun game, it's challenging to keep the lasers far enough while avoiding missiles. Good job! Suggestion: Change the color of the cursor, sometimes I lose track of it because it blends with the background.

fireyoyo 2018-08-14 20:40

thank you @noam, glad you enjoyed it oh, And we had a new cursor color in place but we just forgot to enable it, we've fixed this problem, now you don't have any excuses for dying too quickly anymore :D

swini 2018-08-14 22:16

What a great idea to push the walls back when you kill the spaceship! Good and creative ideas with the moving! Love it. Good movement for Space based game!

fireyoyo 2018-08-14 22:18

thank you so so much @swini , very glad you enjoyed it

darkguardsman 2018-08-14 22:24

Seems the download zip has issues extractingScreenshot 2018-08-14 18.22.48.png

darkguardsman 2018-08-14 22:27

Turns out 7zip can open the zip without issues. Gameplay was good though UI elements need some work. Was very hard to see the aim icon and arrows. Other than that a decent entry, good job.

fireyoyo 2018-08-14 22:29

@darkguardsman wierd, not sure what the problem is, i tried it and it's working on my end, and it's working for everyone else, try re-downloading it maybe? if the problem persists just tell me and i'll try looking for a solution, thanks!

fireyoyo 2018-08-14 22:31

@darkguardsman OK glad to hear, thanks for playing, and yes we'll get working on a "custom cursor color" option ASAP since it's a pretty big problem for alot of people

darkguardsman 2018-08-14 22:35

The arrows in the how to play UI could also use a bit of different color. Didn't even see them due to dark gray on black background. I suggest rather bright UI elements when dealing with dark backgrounds :)

fireyoyo 2018-08-14 22:37

@darkguardsman duly noted, thanks for the advice man <3

markd 2018-08-14 23:17

I am glad and checked back on this game, only to be surprised that the download was fixed, and more importantly the game is fun as hell! The enemies pushing the bariers is a very unique mechanic and makes thinking about enemy priority fun, controls where snappy which is always good and I really liked the music and parallax. Overall a very good job. Only pet peeve would be the UI colors not everything was as readable as the rest.

mrsylar59 2018-08-14 23:22

Had the same problem as @darkguardsman, 7zip can open the archive tough. I liked the game and your take on the theme. It may be because I'm a bit tired but I found it hard to keep up with all the enemies as they all look kind of the same. The graphics and the music are nice and the game is challenging. Good job for your first LD entry ;)

fireyoyo 2018-08-14 23:26

thank you so much @markd , we're very glad that you checked back <3 we're incredibly grateful for your kind words, we've been getting quite a few complaints about the UI so we're sure to try and fix it in future updates

fireyoyo 2018-08-14 23:36

@mrsylar59 thanks for trying the game out man, glad you liked it :D we tried to make the enemies as different as possible while still maintaining a solid artstyle, but you're right, sometimes it does get kind-of cramped on screen and hard to distinguish enemies

oh, and @mr34 will be really happy someone finally commented on the Art, lol

markd 2018-08-15 00:06

@fireyoyo Well, I would just keep it as advice for your next game. Updating the UI later when the jam is completely over will bear not much to your ratings :). This is the first jam I entered myself and I am amazed by the results of people and actually getting constructive feedback. I myself do not mind people pointing out errors or having a negative opinion, as long as its constructive so that we can learn from it. You do not find that kind of, lets say professionalism on a lot of public forums and (blerg) facebook. Good luck!

2018-08-15 00:20

@fireyoyo Nice game needs polishing for the UI and needs good colors for the font and the crosshair but nice idea and i can't wait to play the updated version , Good Job

fireyoyo 2018-08-15 00:31

@markd yea, of course I also don't mind people having negative opinion, everything helps with making the game better, but here most people are constructive because they know how difficult it is to create a game, especially within the time limit

also, i still want to keep working on the game until it's in a state i'm happy with, even if it's after the jam ... i don't want to just leave this game to die, it's like my baby, my pixelated, obnoxiously loud 3-day baby :D

fireyoyo 2018-08-15 00:34

@edwardmaged Thanks for the comment man, glad you enjoyed it :D hopefully we can keep working on the game if possible

flubz 2018-08-15 02:47

GG Fun game!

fireyoyo 2018-08-15 07:03

@flubz thanks man, glad you enjoyed it :D

i get that in a bullet hell, you have to have enough space to move around, but that's why i kindof had this idea in the first place, having to balance having enough space to dodge and actually dodging, that said i loved the idea of being able to push the laser from a distance, i'll definitely think about adding that as a feature in the future if possible

oh, and by the way, looking for the controls everywhere when there's a "how to play" menu? really? xD

fireyoyo 2018-08-15 19:43

Post-Submission bug-fixing update (15/8/2018)

During the first 24 hours from the time of Submission, we have made a number of small bug fixes and balance changes to the game based on what the community has told us, and as per the ludum dare rules, here is a log of everything that has changed in the newer release :

-Fixed bug where the exit button wasn't working

-Fixed bug where a few explosions weren't showing up correctly

-Changed cursor color to green to stop people from losing focus on it

-Now Audio Defaults to 50% instead of 100%

-Slightly Decreased The Number Of Enemies

-Slightly Increased The Player's Fire Rate

devio 2018-08-15 20:40

Fun game, Issue being, The game felt too unbalanced, I found that my health was too generous to regain, I seemed to survive more just by randomly shooting than shooting key targets. More fire modes also will give this game the huge nudge it requires. Good graphics and good sound other than that.

fireyoyo 2018-08-15 20:58

@devio thanks for playing the game dude, sorry i couldn't catch it live since the internet was really bad, i watched it through the VOD though

i agree that the balancing isn't the best with the game and we're constantly trying to find a good balance, also, there was going to be a secondary weapon and pickups as well, but we sadly didn't have the time to implement that

ursagames 2018-08-30 01:26

Challenging game! Great job for your first Ludum Dare! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 1:04 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983

fireyoyo 2018-08-30 11:35

@ursagames thanks for playing dude, glad you enjoyed it i agree that having pickups or alternate fire modes would have made the game way more fun, but sadly we didn't really have the time to implement that :P
