What an EXPLOSIVE game!
It was totally a BLAST!!
The game was so good that I reFUSE to rate anything below a 5!
It was totally a BUMMER MAN to not hook up with the bow girl in the end.
She was the BOMB
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD32 → Bomb Boy

Bomb Boy is a super cute platformer mascot! I think increasing the camera turn speed and pulling the camera back a bit would go a long way to making the controls feel tighter. Really impressed that you were able to make a 3D platformer in such a short time, nice job!
Wasn't the biggest fan of the controls, but really enjoyed the graphical style. Well done. :)
The mechanics are simple, but effective. The characters and environment look fine (though the perpetually burning fuse is a bit misleading - I thought I had a time limit). At any rate, I got 30 gems, couldn't figure out how to continue, and stopped. I also didn't see anything that could be called an unconventional weapon, unless you were going for "these personified bombs are no longer conventional weapons".
@TheMeorch - Thanks! I'm pretty green when it comes to doing 3D games so I'll definitely keep that in mind for next time
@Elemental Zeal Games Studio - Thank you very much! Wish I had more time to do proper models and textures though. I was sick during the weekend :(
@feldenthorne - I probably could have made it a little more clear that you have to turn in the gems to the village elder. Then the Orange guy by the wall teaches you a new trick where you become an 'unconventional weapon'. You're right, my theme was preeeeety weak this time though haha.
Ran really well in webgl btw, and I love the art style. Of course the camera and third person movement needs some tweaking, but your animations and consistent look were really good!
Collectathon, woot! Love the concept and all of the different abilities are great. Damaging the player for using abilities is a nice way of making gameplay slower and more thoughtful. I also like the combination of 3D platforming and light puzzles that you provide. Not really puzzles so much as they are challenges I guess. Biggest complaint has to be the controls. turning the camera takes WAY too long and tank controls are fidgety, which is not so great for platoformers. Gamepad support would be ideal, but mouse controls would be super great. But that's more of a technical thing. The gameplay is rock solid And it'd be cool to see this expanded upon. Good job!
very well-polished 3d platformer! Reminds me a bit like the old school 3d platforming greats, like Mario 64. Well done.
Platforming mechanics were fantastic and the game is really satisfying to play - very polished for a compo game. The only real problem was the tank controls, I was expecting something a little more like your usual 3d platformer. Either way, awesome game!
I think its an awesome concept, though in my opinion the turning was way to slow and it'd be nice to be able to go left without having to turn
@benmcnelly - I've been spending waaaaay too much time trying to figure out how to optimize webgl (deleting every possible mesh that I can). if only it was as easy as the web player we're all used to...
@SuperPokeunicorn - Collectathons are one of my favorite genres and I've always wanted to make a mini-version of one for LD! Definitely could have been more productive and introduced some better gameplay. Next time!
@richiebranson - One of my favorites too! Just don't compare my game to it though or you'll leave very disappointed haha.
@RHY3756547 - Man everyone hates the tank controls. Maybe I grew up in the wrong era - it's hardwired into my brain haha. I'll remember to include alternative movements in the future.
@kabutakogames - I hear ya, I'll work on a better movement scheme next time!
I really love your use of assets! Maybe a little heavy for a web player, but I enjoyed them. Overall it's a very charming little game. A bomb isn't really an unconventional weapon though...
Really cute theming and graphics! I honestly had a hard time playing because the character rotation speed was agonizingly slow for me. It definitely felt like a bug-- it would take me upwards of 10 seconds just to turn 90 degrees, which made navigating the level rather painful. I'm on a Mac playing the downloaded build if that's helpful.
@teirce The darn web player... (Actually it was my really poorly optimized models that I built last minute, but don't tell anybody!)
@Pat Kemp Oh, there was a small bug I fixed with the camera's X rotation not being framerate-independent, which definitely was causing that problem. I must have forgotten to update the Mac/Linux build. I'll do that ASAP!
I loved the art! This was neat!
Nice game. It reminds me games I played lang time ago, like Crock.
Thank you for making this, I really enjoyed it a lot.
@Hambone Thank you very much!
@ermrk Wow that's a game I haven't thought of in a long time...
@sebasRez Glad you enjoyed it!
I think the turning should have been faster, it should not take 1 minute to turn 360 degrees. Also you should look in to making it so that your framerate is higher then 7. Otherwise the graphics and sounds wehre good.
@TheScopelessOne Could you let me know which version you've played? All of the framerate problems should have been fixed by now.
Cute but laggy game so I couldn't have play a lot to it. I like the graphics and audio.
A well rounded game. Nice progression, fun 'powers' and fitting with the theme. I didn't like the controls too much (arrows to turn), but it did the job.
Also thanks for exporting to HTML5/WebGL. Too many games aren't playable because the lack of it (I'm on Linux).
