Pretty nice game. Very innovative in terms of gameplay. Well done!
I like it a lot, it stands out from most games. Good job overall!
Really unique gameplay, and it was interesting how you could keep moving even while fighting on the bottom screen. It'd be cool if moving actually affected the battle somehow. Also, the chalice guardian is terrifying O_o
Great job!
Interesting game. The big boss was a surprise !
very innvative, could be much more, but good work!
I wasn't really too sure what was going on, but that's okay, all I knew was I could kill wizards. That's all I need.
Giant wizard is scary, though.
Game was a little difficult to slip into. That isn't bad. It made my brain bend a little to understand the concept of the game. Doing top down and sidescroller at the same time is wild. I am playing on a laptop and do not have all of the controls needed to play, so I didn't get the whole experience. That all being said, I do not think it is a game you could play long term. This is a clever way of overcoming the problem of presenting a 3D game with 2D development, and I wouldn't imagine it would be welcoming long term. Very fun entry.
Loved the top down and side scrolling at the same time. I managed to pick up a few enemies at the same time that way.....and die.
I like the concept. It needs some work. But you should definitely think about doing something like this on a bigger scale of a project! :)
really good but there no indication that your doing damage
Solid game... actually two games :D
Btw I think I killed everything on the map but nothing happened. Didn't find the guardian nor chalice anywhere. Found a red mage in one of the houses but he didn't attack me so I left him alone :D
Pretty neat, and I really liked how you could keep moving even after engaging an enemy and engage multiple enemies. Would have preferred the walking area to be a bit larger so I could have a better idea of where I was going, but it was still cool and the combat was engaging (liked how you could deflect enemy shots with your own), well done with this :).
Wizzardd~ ahaha interesting game concept! I had a fun time playing this entry :)
Super difficult -- at least in Firefox, every instance of Death is really rapid fire, and the shots seem to make your own shots go off. I only managed to find an item once or twice. The fire seems to run out nearly immediately and not do much damage, and I didn't find any to buy other weapons. If there was a way to avoid huge swarms of death enemies just showing up anywhere you try to walk on the map, it could be cool.
While the theme was to fit the game on one screen, this clearly has two ;)
All things considered though, gameplay mechanics weren't bad. Cool to have map traversing and battling going simultaneous, would be cool if you could escape opponents this way or something.
Audio didn't really jive with me, but the AI and opponents were alright.
I really like the dual screen concept, very innovative! It did take me a while to realize I was actually doing damage when I encountered an enemy, but after that it was good fun. Well done!
Good twist on standard RPG with trying to make it real time. One thing that was a bit confusing was that on the bottom screen the guy was standing in the same position always and but moving left and right would still "move" him, or at least move the bullets relative to you. I think to fully make this effect convincing, you will need to also shift the positions of the enemies, not just the projectiles, and perhaps have a texture for the ground that moves left and right as well, even if its just a repeating texture, the movement of it will convey the player movement more. If you wanted the wizards to stand still on purpose, which gives more the effect that you are both running together, as you blast at each other, you could animate the enemy wizards' movements when you walk toward them to look as if they were running away or toward you to compensate for your movement. This would make it look more like the enemy wizards always maintain their distance from you instead of kind of floating there? Also animating the player's movement... can probably get away with just a few pixels below the robe moving around to convey motion. The music is a bit repetitive, but the loop itself is solid. Such short loops can get annoying fast and its a quality loop when it can be looped despite being short. The music also works well with the fight style, especially when I was imagining it like two wizards running around blasting at each other. I like how your bullets can knock the enemy bullets out of the air, blocking their shots (necessary for crazy wizard that blasts nonstop, haha). Sometimes I was so focused on the battle and moving around, I would not be paying attention to the overworld movement at all, and would get into more fights then I wanted. This is definitely part of the intended design, but I am not sure how I feel about it. Definitely a cool idea, but it might be harder to get just right than it seems at first. Graphics are pretty decent, but lack a bit of shading or polish. I like the things like the scroll for item purchase, and how its more pixely and wish more of the game was that way (but thats just me). I liked your wizard's shooting frame, the arm positions definitely make it feel like casting a spell, and his robe looks kind of lifted by the whooshing by of the air from running around (that's what I was seeing anyway).
maybe the moving was in my head... now I don't actually think the projectiles are moving based on your movement :X
Really like to see this kind of experimentation in a LD game. At one point I was being attacked by three enemies at once. Loved that. This could be developed into something much bigger I think.
Really had fun with the combat system. Another great entry!
Cool project and idea!Keep up the good work :)
Cool concept!
little confused on what to do. fun to play
I liked the idea, really original. Perfect use of the theme.
