LD30 — Connected Worlds

Light and Dark by cobrajs 2014-08-31T18:22:00

Like the concept, nice execution too. Last level was a bit of an issue because I felt I was exploiting the game to reach both exits, especially after I accidentally moved the dark cube inside an immovable box and couldn't get it out.

Yggdrasil by rex64 2014-08-31T18:57:00

Had trouble with the buzzsaw collisions, even after making each squirrel move differently I'd still end up hitting it. Nice idea though.

PEW PEW PEW PEW by invi 2014-08-31T18:32:00

That was actually pretty cool, though I felt there wasn't much of a connection with the theme. Really fun twist on the Ikaruga "formula". Would've loved if I could jump with space though, and if there was more room for movement (the earth guys took too many hits, so eventually it got hard to dodge them and get to the right element to kill the other guys).

ShiftKeeper by egor-idiot 2014-08-31T19:36:00

Third wave was soooooo looooong. I feel like the "connected" part of the theme could've been explored a bit further. as it is, it's more like playing two similar games at the same time, but with no real "connection" between them other than shared health.

Line Crossing by Lissar 2014-08-31T19:13:00

I'll be honest, I have no idea what I was doing. I just kept going left, interacting with anything I could, until the game said it was over. It looks pretty, but the writing felt like it was trying to be smart and... exoteric? but in the end it was just confusing and nonsensical.

Notes from a Mad Mage by Razoric 2014-08-31T18:51:00

Love it. Reminds me of Super Time Force. Main problem I had was not that it was hectic, but cluttered. about halfway through my lives I couldn't even see myself anymore, much less enemy projectiles. It was also a bit too easy to accidentally step on lava while trying to cross the bridges.

Isles of Elona by mocker 2014-08-31T18:01:00

I'm more impressed with the concept of it being an online game than anything else. I don't think i found anything that could hurt me, and i couldn't tell friendlies from enemies. Movement and attacking were also pretty clunky.

Sinister by Joe Williamson 2014-08-31T19:26:00

It's very pretty, and it also sounds very pretty (until the dubstep kicks in >.>), but there really isn't any gameplay. Personally, next time I'd focus on getting your gameplay across before working out all the (seriously, gorgeous) graphics.

A Hyperlink Between Worlds by unprompted 2014-08-31T17:27:00

Personally, I didn't enjoy it. I felt the game boiled down to pressing Z at the yellow line and chasing it around, with one, maybe two puzzles in the way. Controls felt a bit clunky at times too.

Crepuscular by Grand Mustasche Studios 2014-08-31T19:01:00

Shame you couldn't make more levels, I'd definitely play more of it. Took me a while to realize the worlds were mirrored, but that's the closest to a complaint I can come up with. Really cool, hope you work further on it.

Planet Warp! by QubedStudios 2014-08-31T16:55:00

Like the concept and the presentation of the world, but the gameplay was a bit buggy (corn wouldn't pick up sometimes, might be due to how you're restarting the scene). Could've used a "corn counter" to keep track of how you're doing.

Link hooks, connect worlds by jaqms 2014-08-31T17:40:00

Nice concept, reminds me of Closure. Had a bit of trouble controlling the red window without accidentally falling down, maybe mouse controls would work better for it. Also not sure if there was anything else to do after the first link?

Starpiercer by Schrodinger Games 2014-08-31T17:49:00

Very polished, nice audio/visuals, but I felt it wasn't really fitting the theme. Gameplay also could've had a timer to give the dodging asteroids a bit of purpose. Also a bit on the easy side?

Soul'd Out by puppymythril 2014-08-27T18:59:00

The enemy stacking issue is due to a little problem with triggers that I only realized I forgot to turn on after submissions were over. I swear they aren't as stupid in the dev version :P

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

Regarding sound, I won't lie, neither of us are very experienced, so we thought it was more important to get at least the core concept on a playable (albeit buggy) state before worrying about "refinements". That said, I do realize sound could go a long way with cues that can guide the experience better (say, traps warning before they trigger)

Literally connected by ChristianEugenio 2014-08-31T18:05:00

It's surprising what a little chaos can do to put a smile on my face :P Pretty simple, but for a game done in seven hours, rather cool.

Ex-Fraktion by Robotic 2014-09-01T01:05:00

Probably the only game I gave 5 stars on all categories, truly amazing stuff you guys did there.
