LD30 — Connected Worlds

devoid by Jake Coxon 2014-08-25T13:15:00

Really nice - certainly not a cakewalk though! I'm not an RTS newbie but by level 2 it felt like I'd landed myself in a stalemate. Balance aside, it'd make a cool tap-happy tablet game that I'd happily spend hours on.

I think your server is aborting the connection early or something - I have tried three times to download, one is 12MB, 22MB and 30MB - despite the expected size to be 35MB.

This is a a very well presented puzzle platformer - the graphics are clean and consistent, the controls are straightforward and character action is smooth. The puzzle mechanic and level design is slick, the level (almost) steers you in the right direction - I did end up mashing the space bar in a few locations. I only found 3 coins too - I don't have the patience I used to with platformers, but I'm sure some will find all 5 :)

Awesome execution, the levels are well balanced and get you up to speed with the mechanics without it feeling like you're in over your head.

A lot of game for a 48 hours compo - level design is good, and the change in graphical theme is nice. The controls weren't brilliant though, I could get around the levels just fine, but the deceleration on landing felt a bit too severe and the "air time" felt a little too long.

The mechanics and premise are cool, but I just couldn't enjoy it because of the jerky ship rotation controls :( Otherwise it looks a nice game, with a game mechanic I'd love to practice the hell out of.

Awesomely simple mechanic with lots of room for replay, and leaderboards! Good job!
