I'll take it ! An artsy space opera theme'd universe!

I dig the game, the graphics are cute, randomization is cool. It was fun trying to build different universes based on themes. I wish there was some music or sound effects, like if you decide to not save a world it goes up in flame or explodes or something. but overall a very quick and neat game :)

This is pretty cool! The facts about the planets (race, other info, etc.) actually affected my decisions a lot more than I expected, which was a nice touch. The number of races saved at the end was an interesting detail too. I think if the visuals were a bit more dramatic when saving/abandoning a planet, it'd look really sweet!

A very intriguing submission. I found most of the entertainment this game had to offer came from the humorous and just plain weird planet descriptions! Although I understand that there are different endings depending on the player's choices, my decisions through most of the game felt of little significance. Furthermore, the game feels a little too long for me to want to find all the endings. Maybe reducing the player's energy to 10 instead of 20 would make finding the endings an easier task. None-the-less, cool game! Humor is definitely the strongest category here!

Good points for innovation -- this is definitely a concept I've never seen before. The random text was nice and the artwork was creative. But.. I'm also terribly confused by it... "maybe the next universe will turn out better than this one did" <-- I'm not sure what's "better" - is it just whatever I like the best? Also not sure if I should keep trying new universes (i.e., does the last game influence the next?).

spiteful-fox 2017-05-04 04:06

@deathray The ending is determined by which worlds you choose to save. Depending on what you do, there's endings where the Destroyer doesn't just trash the place again. Games don't influence following ones, but that's definitely a mechanic I've thought about for a future version. xD

Unique concept, would've liked to get some more feedback during the game. I was really picky and because of that the game got a little repetitive (but I guess that's my own fault )

Either way, good concept that I think is worth exploring further. Maybe a tinder like mobile app where you swipe left and right to save planets or destroy them?

Some stuff that could help:

- Visual representation of the species - More info on what you've chosen so far (unless you want to keep it more in the dark so people have to guess) - Some visual effects when saving/destroying a world, but that's just polish in general, so I guess that speaks for itself.

A surprisingly high amount of content in a choose-your-own-adventure style game.

What I like: * The variety of worlds, races, and modifiers, is great! I got some funny combinations, such as one world where both "everyone was incredibly racist" and "everyone has neutron bombs". That was an instant-skip for sure! * That your decisions play into the new universe you build * The graphics for the worlds are nice and varied.

What I Don't like: * There should be a bigger breakdown of the universe I built. EG, what race is dominant? What is contributing to my final scores? * I wasted a ton of energy on worlds that just plain sucked or didn't have attributes I wanted because of RNG. Maybe every world should have at least some redeeming quality? * Selecting the worlds wasn't really all that fun. It might be more fun if my decisions played into eachother more than just the end, such as in "The Yawhg"

Great job on your entry, and good luck in the competition!

That was a fun game! Funny! I like that it made me actually think about what to consider when deciding who to save and who not to save. Although I opted for a pretty boring rule, just going for largest populations, with little regard to what they are like... what does that say about me? :O

Played the game here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/139989925 (at 0:03:27)

spiteful-fox 2017-05-04 08:48

@frankiesmileshow That was really fun to watch. I'm glad you and your stream chat enjoyed it. ^.^ I think going for the highest populations says you not only want to save as many people as possible without judging them, but you're smart about it and didn't just hit Save on the first 20 planets you saw. That 300k+ population is the highest I've ever seen in an ending. I probably should've written a special ending for that sorta thing. xD

frederika 2017-05-04 15:41

This was fun! I really liked playing it, some of it was a little repetitive since the same things kept coming back but this was really fun to play.

doug-graham 2017-05-04 16:01

Interesting game. Liked all the funny nods hidden within. Sort of a random Choose Your Own Adventure style game. Would be interested to know how many different endings there are.

spiteful-fox 2017-05-04 18:39

@doug-graham There's 12 different endings and a few "sub-endings" that can happen depending on choices.

kalm004 2017-05-04 20:35

Really cool game. There is a lot of work with the data you have added to the game. Good job!

chaseplays 2017-05-06 04:18

Good job! I enjoyed all of the text, and the sort of decision making gameplay was very interesting! I could have enjoyed if the planets weren't randomized, but all intentionally created (create for instance 40 worlds, each with their own qualities, and have 20 planets to save and 20 to destroy). Overall, I really liked this! I hope to see you expand on this in the future!

smiling-cat-entertainment 2017-05-06 11:34

The world descriptions were very entertaining, and I found myself compulsed to play through several times to try to get different types of outcomes. Nice job!

le-slo 2017-05-06 21:44

Original idea, i played a lot of different tries (i loved the only one planet ending) just to deepen on the content you made. Really funny combinations with the randomization. I'm not that much into "text adventures" but i did have a good time playing this game.

quetzakol 2017-05-14 17:42

Almost not a game, but I really enjoyed it ! Original idea and very funny content :) Graphics are okay, maybe more diversity in the planet shapes would have been nice. Nice !

mrerdalural 2017-05-15 13:09

I really liked the idea. I was surprised to see that a game as simple as this was very enjoyable. Thank you for making this game!

ryguydavis 2017-05-16 16:46

Definitely an enjoyable read. I would have liked consequences to my actions as there seemed to be no point to choosing one thing over another. Great idea and funny, quirky text. I liked that my decisions were averaged out in the end, but that seemed to be just a taste of the consequences I was looking for.

comatomatoes 2017-05-16 17:36

This game was definitely pretty humorous! =) The worlds felt a bit homogeneous after a while, however. The different descriptions were quite funny the first time through, but after a while they felt a bit too specific and repetitive. Maybe adding more structure to the procedural general would have helped? E.g. have a sentence template with noun positions that can be swapped out.

dining-philosopher 2017-05-16 18:09

"The Destroyer emerges again only to find a universe armed to the teeth and ready for it. After a brutal war across many worlds, The Destroyer is put down, ending the cycle for good. A shining new age begins as life flourishes in this brave new universe."

Does that mean I won?

Funny planets with the "other info" and races, I also went through several universes to find out what results I would get with the different properties.

BTW, I did not hear any sound (Firefox).

megabrutal 2017-05-16 19:18

I liked the different descriptions of planets. It's important to save worlds where Minecraft has a modding API! ;) It was very fun, thank you!
