Finally the game is up, and I have to say that this was a good experience for my team mate and I.
It is always hard to start something from nothing, but we came with this simple idea of abducting cows and here is the result ^^

Have to say that the path was not easy, as I did not touch unity since a year and a half ago, and my team mate just started with the graphic tablet.
But we are so proud of being able to publish this :3
Anyway the code it's uploaded and you can check it in the description of the game, I have to say that it is not the cleanest code of my life, so do not try to learn anything from that xD
Fun art :P I found it a bit difficult to actually get cows high up in the sky, maybe you could try just parenting the cow to the ufo? Anyway, good game :D
@ikstreamivo Thank you for the feedback! The idea is that has to be kind of difficult, I like the idea of parenting, but the game is more focused on the skill to pick up the cows and don't let them fall :D

Some tips just, to improve would be..
As graphics if u are not a designer, prefer to use simple forms, flat art is a great choice. the ship moviment is stringe, probably was itentional, but would be better a fluid moviment and a harder mechanic like.. the cows diying and falling before some seconds or the place that u post cows moving around..

This was a good game which i really enjoyed playing. The graphics were good and the overall premise was a cool idea. I did find it a bit difficult to control the cows well, and to control the UFO's, but other than that, this is a really cool game

Cool game. I like how heavy the ship feels, unwieldy but not too difficult to control. I did get trapped under the cows a couple of times though. :P
@ysty Being trapped under the cows was a funny bug I found and I keep it hahahahah
I've kind of like the fact that's it's hard to catch the cow. But it's maybe too hard or we don't have enough energy. I like the game mecanics anyway !
The funniest until now, the graphics and gameplay helps
My sister and I had a really fun time playing this! Our mutual complaint however seems to be that the controls are too difficult. Maybe the ship's controls could be more immediate, or the beam could have a significantly longer range. Still, this entertained us for several rounds (all of which I won hehe).
The gameplay was solid, and the graphics were amazing (apart from the buttons, they seemed out of place). Overall, great job!
The controls took a bit to get used to, but it was okay. If you wanted to make the game more fun, it would be cool if the player could pick up multiple cows with the ray. I liked the sleekness of the UI, the graphics served their purpose and the music... existed.
@pauljs It was quite difficult to adjust the energy and the time, because for some people was enough to never die, I should make something like drain the battery faster with the time or something like that.

@drachmor The controls are made with physics giving impulse to the ship, the problem here was that if you give a lot of impulse to the ship the mechanic of caching the cow was more difficult, but yes maybe increasing the abducting area could solve that ^^
@speedysloth99 Yeah we know that, we didn't have time to change the default buttons of unity, sorry about that :(
@ljn We wanted to abduct more cows, but with the lower range of the abduction area was kind of difficult, so we keep it just one by one, but thank you very much for the feedback!
Fun little game once you get used to the controls - 10/10 would lift cows again.
Pretty nice for your first entry. the abduction felt kind of clunky but other than that it was pretty solid overall!

I liked the game. Got used to the controls super quick, but I think the energy ran out too fast. I wasn't able to get it back to max no matter how fast I was doing it :p
@thatrumme yeah I know adjusting the energy was driving me mad, because some people find it easier than others :(

As for the game, the concept is cute, but the controls feel impossible to work with. Most of the difficulty in the game comes from struggling to play it, which isn't too fun.
However, I did actually like the art. I had a cute vibe to it, since the game is silly I figure these graphics fit well.

Couldnt catch any cows. They'd just kinda slide out sometimes. Got stuck in the ground a couple times. Still, interesting idea. With some bug fixes it could be really good.

You can improve the avatar with more inertia and maybe work on the level design to have some dropping zone, to drop a cow in some place and manage the environnement !
you must improve the energy consumption / winning ratio ! The system is too much frustrating
Maybe try to have different cow and sometimes, a kind of cow bring more energy than the others (just a suggestion)
This was a really funny idea. Like other people have said, the UFO felt a little slow. Maybe make it a little more responsive so it's more fun to control? Some variety would also be cool: maybe different kinds of animals, maybe other UFOs that fight back? But this is a good start that opens up a lot of possibilities, which is exactly what a Ludum Dare game should be!
Really funny, I kind of like how you have to manage the UFO while picking up the cow to make sure you don't lose them. It makes it really challenging.
One issue I had is cows jumping on top of my spaceship preventing me from taking off! Pesky cows!

This is great for your first LD. Hope you had fun!
I like the idea behind this game, but you could have focused more on making the controls a bit more interesting. What I mean is that they were hard to use. Making them a bit more snappy would help. In that way the controls wouldn't be the challenge, which I found it to be, but instead using the controls to master the art of abducting cows.
Again, great entry for your first LD. Be proud of it, you did a great job!

I kept dropping the cows right before reaching the "energy bin." I think making the beam range a smidgen longer or possible stronger would make it easier. Or lowering the bin. :) Or making the current setting the "hard mode" setting and creating an "easy mode" for more relaxed play.
Great job getting single player and multiplayer modes working! I found both enjoyable.
Overall very cute and funny game. I loved the little carefree cows hopping around the field!
Fun game with a great art-style and good audio. Did find the game a little difficult, and while I thought the ships movement was alright it did feel a bit heavy.

Quite challenging! I managed to successfully abduct a couple of cows before the timer ran out, but I definitely dropped more than I... what am I doing to get energy from them? Excellent job for your first LD entry! The music was very fitting too, reminded me of cyriak animations.
Damn those cows are fighting for their lives. The ships flight is a bit too heavy, it's not easy to keep the cows in the beam.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this already but my biggest problem with it is that the cows keep falling out of the beam. Its supposed to be hard I know but me and my friend couldn't get a single cow.

It was not easy to abduct cows but it's a very funny game :smile: These cows are pretty amazing : they can fall from the sky without getting hurt!
I didn't know that aliens need to treat with such delicacy the cows they abducted hehe. I found really found the main mechanic here. Maybe it was a little bit slow, but it was challeging and fun. Nice work!

I enjoyed mastering the skill-tester-like qualities of the beam. Not sure if it's just me, but I missed the bucket a few times because I expected the cows to keep their momentum when released instead of dropping straight down.

This game is good. I liked how you used the theme wisely and didn't overcomplicate gameplay, but still made the theme essential to the game. I also liked the innovation of the concept behind the game. I have never in my life seen a game about UFOs kidnapping cows. Though the concept was kind of humorous, I think it could have been funnier if more funny cow soundeffects were added. Overall, this game is good because the theme was used wisely and the concept behind the game is pretty creativity, but this game could have been more humorous.
Really fun little game, but needs some more polishing. I really enjoyed hand-drawn-styled graphics(have not seen anything like this before). Simple and fun idea of gameplay. Great Job!
The gameplay was fun for a little while, but there wasn't anything new or exclusive about staying alive longer. Just picking up cows that didn't change got a little repetitive. The physics felt sluggish but good. I also felt I couldn't stay alive forever even if I didn't make any mistakes, which is never great.
I lasted about 64 seconds. I felt the UFO was hard to control. Regardless, the gameplay concepts were solid. Good job!
Wow! I was getting pretty frustrated at first... Holy throttle hell! lol After I got the hang of it, (it took like 4 cow-less training sessions) it was kinda fun. I think most peoples complaints about the controls are based on the the little amount of force you give the ship vs the amount of gravity and drift. this was the main cause for my frustration, the only other cause being that the darn cows slipped off the tractor beam. I see that was the intention, and it did make the game a challenge. I like challenges, but this felt just a bit punishing the first 4 times playing. some type of tut where you test out the tractor beam a few times without a time limit might have been a good idea, I know I could have benefited from that. also I didn't really like that the energy converter was placed in the upper left and would have liked to see it move location, but with the cow slippage that would have made things even more difficult, so maybe you made the right decision. Also what if the energy converter was a mother ship? It kinda looked like a human made funnel or a piece of farm equipment floating around. I guess i'm just saying if the art of the converter fit the art of the ship I would have made the connection sooner. Audio would have helped the mood. Very funny sense of humor. Did very well in innovation. Theme and graphics were great as well! Very Awesome for a one man team! GREAT JOB! Next time post it somewhere without ads?? (no point loss for that, but it did detract from the experience, not to mention i'm sure you lost some players/raters that way).

This was fun, the frustrating kind of fun :) The inertia-heavy movement and difficult handling of cows could be slightly tuned down. I'd say players would be much happier to play the game if it was more "accessible" – i.e. getting the first cows would be basically guaranteed, because the handling would be easy and the collector would be very close, but then the game would get harder over time – the collector could move further away, the cows could start moving around faster, etc etc. As far as the graphics go, the hand-drawn art is fine, but I'm not sure the spacey background fits – go all out with the art style if you decide on one.

Shockingly I actually realized I liked the slippery controls, it made it more challenging and engaging than a straight up vacuum. It's definitely much better in 2p mode and I could see it being even better with 4.
I'm on the same boat as @peachtreeoath, it is weird at first, but then it becomes a challenge to overcome. Awesome game, my only issue is not making pretty buttons, but I'll let it slide for a LD :P
It was tricky to control, but quite amusing at the same time. I groaned with despair when I thought I'd dropped a cow into the energy thing only to have it walk off the side and fall back down to the ground. I tried playing it two player with Mrs Columbo, but she found it too hard to control (although perhaps I should have allowed her better access to the keyboard).

When I picked up a cow and carried it a quarter of the way up the screen I felt hopeful! If you continue to develop this, I would continue to play if I saw a way to carry the cow farther up the screen. I tried slowing down my ascent yet the cow gravitated back to earth.
