LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Bad Water by Rudenko 2021-04-27T13:53:48Z

Didn't have a gamepad around so had to use mouse. Mouse controls are indeed very awkward. It would make more sense to have the mouse cursor visible, and have the direction point towards it and move while LMB is pressed.

Getting too weak in pollution at the top also just makes you stuck rather than dying/restarting game. The graphics are simple, but nice. Could be more interesting with terrain to swim though or enemy creatures.

Really fun puzzle! Loving the visuals & sound effects too

Craftmine by Cal 2021-04-27T11:35:00Z

Nice game, fits the theme well. The screen shake and particle effects are very satisfying.

Anglerfish Feeding Frenzy by js_ 2021-04-29T22:03:57Z

Simple but fun, love the combo-ing you can do by dashing after eating a fish

An interesting concept, good job!

Deep Mine by NateTheGreat 2021-04-27T11:48:13Z

Really fun! The falling sand concept is a great fit for the theme

THIEFEUS: Rynth, Repeat by Dorkulon 2021-04-27T11:29:27Z

Great game, really fun!

Abracatabra DBDBDeep by gamefive 2021-04-29T22:14:25Z

Wasn't sure what I was doing at first but then I started to understand we were improving our slime's stats. An interesting concept, it has some potential but currently seems quite easy to beat the opponent

Submerged by vanLeiden 2021-04-27T19:23:11Z

Nice game, was fun and the music is so relaxing!

The Dwarves of Mt. Deep by Kimberly 2021-04-27T18:21:54Z

Really enjoyed playing, great job! Love the visuals & sounds

Sunken Dungeon by Pascone 2021-04-28T13:35:16Z

Really interesting combat mechanic! Art and sound is good too, nice job!

A long way down by Trolog 2021-04-27T17:15:48Z

Nice game, though it's a bit annoying that the player is 2 blocks tall. Should also be more zoomed in. A highlight/border around the block currently being mined would also be handy as it's difficult to see that sometimes. Good job though!

Dungeon digger by superkoekje 2021-04-28T22:11:56Z

Controls are a little awkward to use, but good job!

Into the Mines by SneakyLunatic69 2021-04-27T17:48:55Z

It's a little unclear that you have to enter fullscreen to be able to see the play button. A few issues with sprites z-fighting, but otherwise a good game. Nice job!

Into The Depth by Szymon OGD 2021-04-27T14:21:30Z

Nice game! Got down to 4905m, so almost halfway. Visuals and sound are great.

Dangerous Depths by Mololo 2021-04-28T13:26:07Z

Nice job, would be nice to move the player up a bit or zoom out a bit. Also it's possible to move at the beginning to get outside the map bounds

Dig Deeper! by Cyanilux 2021-04-27T12:36:22Z

Thanks for playing <3

@retrospecter The terrain is procedurally generated using cellular automata & marching squares. If you look those up you'll find some similar stuff. Each time the player swings the pickaxe some cells and their neighbours are updated and the mesh is re-generated.

@cninja Ah yeah, I didn't catch that while testing. Some bosses were planned but I didn't have time to add any.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

The items are fairly expensive so need a bit of grinding to get enough gold, I'd recommend getting at least 1 Pickaxe Speed upgrade first as that helps a ton! Can keep falling through levels until you reach a shop including it. In the future I'll definitely look at balancing it better, but glad everyone is enjoying the breakable terrain!
