Wow, I would like to make similar game someday
Just amazing :) definitely better than anything I played since now in this LD!
Congrats!
I just love the particles! Wow!
Fantastic entry, I really loved this take on falling sand. Since I played Noita I've been wondering how else you could make a similar game and I think this use case is one!
Also poked thru the code, nice to see a full threejs project like this as an example! (I've poked around the basics myself, but yet to see a project this size) good work!
Your particle stuff is amazing, really like that touch. I made the mistake of digging directly in front of the shop and never being able to go back to it without falling into the same pit. Oh well. Good stuff! I found it difficult but not impossible. I was surprised when I fell into what must be a sinkhole and nusted myself, but all in good fun! Good vibes.
This game is really fun. I drilled right up a tree causing a fire, destroying myself, and causing the tree to burst into flames and fall onto my store which meant I took damage each time I sent to the store. I could have restarted the game, but that seemed like cheating. :)
Such a good game, love the particles and the procedural generation. How did you make this run in a browser????!!!!
Thanks for all the great comments and feedback!
@frozenfire92 The code is a bit of a mess so probably not the best threejs example code, but I'm glad if it helps!
@nephronhunter the tree fires were something that happened accidentally and I left it in because it was funny. Sorry it backfired for you! Maybe they shouldn't have built the shop so close to that tree...
@Catomag It just barely works performance wise. I did all of the optimizations mentioned in the Noita tech talk minus the multithreading. I consider myself lucky that so far I haven't had any comments saying it runs too slowly :)
I love the particle effects! And how everything in the environment works so well together, like how I accidentally burnt all the trees down. Probably the best mining game I've played so far in this LD!
Really fun! The falling sand concept is a great fit for the theme
by far the best game i played so far, really good looking graphics and lighting, easy to learn controls and amazing gameplay. the addition of coolant is really cool, and i love the little details like the trees burning when being drilled, if this game doesnt win the competition, then this world needs better people
So nice thigs in the main munu! I like it!
The mechanics of mining are really great! I loved it!
The particle stuff in your game is truly great! I didn't even notice how much time I spent playing it. Great entry!
The best game I played so far and it's so simple yet done so well.
It really do have vibes of "im gonna play that in school" game and I like it.
Ambitious! The vehicle's physics seems a little janky, I got stuck a lot and frequently was unable to go upwards entirely. But I had fun digging around and falling into caves lol.
I have only one question: how did you make a Noita-esque physics engine so quickly?? This is technically outstanding
Had a blast playing this on stream! Amazing work, really impressive.
@alchemic sorry to hear that! There are some major issues that happen when the FPS dips below a certain threshold which doesn't take much due to it being written in JS. Did you try it in chrome? From my testing chrome is the fastest and firefox/IE both run significantly slower.
@lenophie In the description I only mentioned it briefly but I can provide more details here: The engine was made a while ago based on the Noita tech talk at GDC where they spill their secrets  I was intending to release the engine on its own since I don't think there are any engines/plugins out there that provide something similar to the "Falling everything engine" but I kind of lost interest and it became a dead project. I realized it would work perfectly for this jam so I used it as the engine for this game even though it is incomplete, hopefully this inspires me enough to pick it back up and finish the engine enough to release it!
@natethegreat well that was definitely a smart move!
Really cool engine tech! Might be a bit more intuitive if the ship looked like it flew instead of having treads that roll around. My first instinct was to dig at an angle so I could drive back up.
Amazing job! Game feedback on stream :)
Got to say I'm really disappointed right now...
...
How could you not add sand to the thrusters or the other ores?!
oh geez what a game, the engine you have here is bloody amazing. Your drill clearly doesn't appreciate how impressive it is though since it gets stuck on things a lot. Your artwork could also use some improvements as well, but im not sure how in the cards that is for you.
IF your really only goal is making a tech demo though, I'd say you'd passed that test with flying colors.
Woah -- please make this into a commercial game. This is hands-down the best game I've played this jam.
Also I dug to 6666 to see if anything would happen (Mr. Natas), slightly disappointed but had a ton of fun along the way : )
Okay so you used your falling sand engine tech you made previously, you didn't implement all the lighting and pixel / rigidbody connections in this jam lol thank god. Awesome game looking forward to the full release
I thought this one was pretty well rounded. The gameplay, graphics and music were all well suited to what you were going for. It can be a bit hard to get cellular automata to look polished, but I appreciate the choices you made. I thought the progression mechanics were a little harsh for an LD entry (value lost on death vs gained for the time I committed), but I had fun nonetheless. Thanks for the game!
Thanks for bringing your game by my stream for playtesting! If you’d like to revisit the play and commentary you can view the highlight at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1006134878
The use of the falling sand engine had a really interesting and positive effect on a basic digging game. Good thinking.
Cool concept, we actually had a similar idea for this jam but decided against it ^^' Also the music is pretty cool, gives instant terraria vibes! My one suggestion would be to add more obstacles and/or enemies so you can't just dig straight down
Nice mechanics. The audio adds a lot to the game. Great jam :)
Surprisingly I wasn't mad when the miner exploded on falling down the shaft too fast :D
Overall very nice, the graphics look pretty neat as long as they are coherent. Maybe some separation between the "+ x resource" and "tank low" messages would be helpful - i.e. show the warning to the side or something.
the tech here is really impressive! thanks for sharing the code; I'll have to check it out sometime. Nice game built on top of the engine too; I love motherload and this scratches that itch -- I got down to 3174m.

Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on stream! I played it yesterday. You can watch me play it here (at 2:02:10).
Good game, felt like a very solid, well programmed one!
