Pretty simple, but overall a neat game. I'm really intrigued with how you were able to build breakable terrain like that.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD48 → Dig Deeper!

This breakable terrain feels so good to destroy, but I wish moving was more responsive because player sometimes move even though you're not pressing anything. Also fighting could be a bit more interesting (maybe add some boss fights after reaching certain "floor"). Even though it was rather simple I enjoyed it!
Thanks for playing <3
@retrospecter The terrain is procedurally generated using cellular automata & marching squares. If you look those up you'll find some similar stuff. Each time the player swings the pickaxe some cells and their neighbours are updated and the mesh is re-generated.
@cninja Ah yeah, I didn't catch that while testing. Some bosses were planned but I didn't have time to add any.
Digging was really satisfying. Being careful of lava and the bats also resulted into a nice game mechanics. I know time is the issue here, still a story and some levels will make it more interesting overall.
Great job on the destruction/mining mechanic! Impressive! I found the game punitiv and a bit unbalanced (items in shop are too much expensive) :sob: It lacks of a little ambient music.
It could be a good rogue-lite game (some kind of Spelunky maybe?) Congrats of the final result!
The breakable terrain is oddly satisfying et its simplicity made me loose track of the time for a bit. A change of color when the character take damage would have helped a little bit, but it remains a really cool game considering the time limit ! Thanks for your work !
The "smoothness" of the terrain destruction is very pleasant, moving around and digging around is fun by itself. The combat system could have needed more polish. It's simple but fun, good work:)
Neat ! I take that this is procedurally generated, good work ! Lacks some sound, and a bit unbalanced (super expensive items and health goes away fast) but I really liked wandering around !
For now it is the best game that i played here :P It is very addictive and fun. Has the potential to be a paid game.
The bats were so cute! I didn't understand that going down the hole actually brought up a new level :joy: I spent a lot of time excavating everything to upgrade my boots haha  At first I thought the enemy blobs were my companions because they were the same colour as me, maybe a different colour or shape would have helped there.
I had a blast smashing up the mine!
Quite innovative. I like the fluency of rocks damaging. The character is simple, but has all the neccesacry details. :P
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
The items are fairly expensive so need a bit of grinding to get enough gold, I'd recommend getting at least 1 Pickaxe Speed upgrade first as that helps a ton! Can keep falling through levels until you reach a shop including it. In the future I'll definitely look at balancing it better, but glad everyone is enjoying the breakable terrain!
Great game,I like the idea.
It has good graphics and it's so satisfying to mine around.
Maybe add some sound when you take damage, at first a was playing with the bats and I noticed I was half HP .
I had fun so Good job.
The gold sticking from the walls was really neat, and digging it out was really really satisfying! I could easily imagine this being taken further, with gemstones and whatnot. Good work!
I think that the game is good, but enemies feel so unfair and also the upgrades amount of gold. If you balance that, game will be pretty nice!
Clean and effective graphics, the mining feels very smooth and good, great animation there!
Good work!
It was an interesting game. I liked the feeling of breaking the wall with a hedgehog. The price of the item seems rather high.
It was a lot of fun, I especially liked the breakable terrain!
Very funny game! I'd love a musical ambiance to feel more inside the mine but I had a good time, good game!
I really liked this game! Digging through the walls was super satisfying! I would have liked some more feedback when getting hit by the enemies - sometimes I was dying when I didn't realize it. Some additional things to find would be cool too.
