Looks great! love the art

Wow great first jam! The art and style is pretty satisfying, and I like the simplicity. The difficulty of the last level was surprising, but it was reasonably possible after a couple of tries. Overall the game plays and looks good :D

Hey, this is great! Fun aesthetic, easy to grok but still clever gameplay, and well-executed. Might be interesting to try a version where you run automatically and can't stop, sort of like what Super Mario Run does.

EDIT: Tweaking the kill hitboxes might also be nice, as some of them currently feel a bit large.

Hi, nice play. I enjoyed play it, even if the collision box for some of the elements seems too punitive. I really like the life count made over the character sprite.

baconinvader 2017-04-29 12:24

I really like the art style, and the gameplay is satisfying as well. My only complaint is that the collision feels a bit unfair

I'm always a sucker for some nice pixel art. Fun game liked, the concept. Small bug (maybe its a feature) - I was still able to control my player after the lava had melted my body. Controlling my disembodied head for a couple of seconds before i died was strangely disturbing. Nicely balanced i made it to the end with just the right amount of retries. A bit of sound - even just bfxr samples would have been nice too.

Nice game, I could see something like this as one of those "always getting harder" sort of games where you travel from planet to planet each time.

I found sometimes I ended up hitting the lava/acid when it looked like I was far enough away.

Id love to replay it with more levels

I LOVE the art style. The colors are nice and the simple graphics are good for a game like this. It is very clear what is deadly and what is not, with the possible exception of some of the deadly clouds.

The description of the planets in the upper right corner is very clever. The way it mixes the lore of the game with informational content is really great.

Where the game falters, though, is in the hitboxes. Most times when I die, it is because of hitting an object which the player was not even touching. This was first apparent with the aliens. The hitbox should be constrained to the player's sprite and the enemy's sprite, not the box around them.

With that simple fix, the game would be vastly improved. Sound would also add a lot, even some bfxr sounds created in a few minutes.

Good work, especially for a first jam!

Hey nice work ! Loved how you took a small scope and really exploited the concept ! The hitboxes could be a bit more permissive but it wasn't game breaker for me It's one of those little game I like to play when I have 10 minutes to kill, great work!

Great artwork with simple yet challenging game play. I too found some issues with the hitboxes, but I still very much enjoyed the game. Great job

jsjdev 2017-05-03 11:59

Thanks all for the feedback. The hitboxes were something that I wanted to fix up but found myself spending time elsewhere. I'll definitely fix them in the next build.

Nice game. Great work for your first jam title.

Enjoyed the art style a lot as well as reading the scanner output. The hit boxes on the ground were okay but I found that that the inhabitant's, especially the slime, had very frustrating hit boxes. I liked the different palettes and I would be interested to see maybe hills or something else in the future. Nice job!

nofuel 2017-05-03 17:08

Very cool idea! I really like the different kinds of worlds with their special variations. The only problem I had were the collision boxes. I died many times and that was a bit frustrating. But all in all a good game!

npizzle1 2017-05-13 20:33

Nice concept i think it would of been nice if you could also rotate the opposite direction too but still really nice idea.

random-storykeeper 2017-05-13 23:43

I like this concept a lot; the planets are varied, and I like how you're told what can harm you and what's okay, and how these can vary from planet to planet. The art is pretty, but I felt like the text was out of place. It was a good choice of colours for the text palette, though.

My biggest frustration came from the hitboxes. It seemed it was too sensitive, in terms of being able to clip hazardous ground was very frustrating, as I couldn't tell what killed me on the last planet. I actually didn't manage to beat it. Other than that, I thought it was a sweet little game.

soulpixel 2017-05-15 14:17

After 2 minutes I understood the concept. A really good und fun entry!

c0nst4ntin 2017-05-15 14:45

Realy Nice game! It took me a sec to understand what going on. But It's a nice Concept. Overall a nice Jam entry. Also, ceck out my game, I need a few more ratings: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/timmy-and-the-snowflake
