LD46 — Keep it alive

Cool game. I honestly got a bit lost because of how big the map was, but finding new abilities and trying them out felt really rewarding. The tornado one was my favourite of the ones I managed to find.

Edit: I encountered the soundtrack fade bug so you might have uploaded the wrong version.

@tomyomy I don't remember doing anything in particular, but I can explain what I remember from my playthrough and it might help you recreate the issue:

After talking to the quest giver (orb), I got the spell that took form as a thick blue whiteish line. I found the water arrow spell and went to the right. I battled a few enemies and died in the hallway connecting the spawn point and the right room.

After I died, I repeated the process but killed the enemies and entered the room at the end of the hallway. I remember it having a staircase leading upwards. It was just as I reached the center of that room the sound faded out for a 1-2 sec, went quiet and suddenly started playing again.

At the time I thought it was intentional since the fadeout in itself didn't seem like a bug, but if it wasn't, you could always try and walk through the same process I did and see if you manage to encounter the same bug!

Loved the tutorial gameplay into main menu transition. Didn't manage to actually get past the first obstacle though. My dash didn't work for me, though I might not have used it as it was intended. When I tried a grounded dash, the screen just vibrated and gave me the dash noise. Nothing else happened. The graphics looked sick though and it's a shame I didn't manage to explore the rest of the world.

A Walk In The Park by ion-programming 2020-04-21T20:14:09Z

The game rocked! (HAH), seriously though, I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the graphics, but the rock was very slow, and the searching took a lot of time as well. Got fairly repetitive. Cute rock though, 10/10 would rock again

@arcayn Thanks for taking the time to write all of this down. I had doubts whether or not I should publish this game due to lack of confidence. People like you, supporting and giving feedback, made it all worth it though. I'm proud of us both for managing to finish as first timers!

@p0l4r There are five levels in total. Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

@drachmor Dude I know. This is the first time I've actually published something online so it was nerve wracking but it feels great, especially because of the amount of support I got from you guys. Thank you so much!

And yeah maybe I'll recreate the game and make a bigger project out of it at some point. Gotta get finished with my current one first though. Thanks for playing!

@quinn-patrick Hearing a veteran say that really boosts my confidence. Thanks for playing, and for making my day brighter

@tombuston Very interesting idea! Thanks for taking the time to write this detailed feedback and support. You got my imagination flowing!

@lairinlair Yeah you're definitely right. I was just nervous because I'm not as experienced as the rest of you guys. I originally thought attending a game jam was not something for me, and that it's something only the veterans should attend to showcase their ideas and gain an audience. I ended up attending though, and I don't regret it a bit. This community is amazing!

@bastian Great feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it even though you didn't manage to get that far. I don't blame you, it took a while before even I got very far in my own game (;

@sunnray Yeah I'm proud of myself for managing to get something done within the timeframe, and you're right; i really hope there isn't anybody like me out there that decided to not publish his game because he was afraid of the response. He would've missed out on this bliss!

@trace I didn't mean quit as in quit game development, but rather stop working on this project because I wasn't very confident in it, but you are absolutely right. Every developer will start off at a stage where other people are simply better and more experienced, and that's something you should embrace, not something to be ashamed of. Without failure you cannot succeed. Thanks for playing!

@the-martijn Fixed! Thanks for pointing that out. Can totally relate to the "scrap idea and start all over again". Thanks for playing!

@magicmarten I'm glad you liked it! And yeah I agree that you don't really get a chance to know what's going on when entering a new level. I'll fix that when I decide to continue working on the project. Thanks for playing!

Can you look after my plants? by the_martijn 2020-04-21T19:28:48Z

Loved the graphics, and especially that clean animation in the beginning. I had a hard time understanding why some of the plants died though, but I'd imagine it was because I misunderstood the amount of times you could water a specific plant a day.

Unfinished Business by SpookyTrain 2020-04-21T19:14:23Z

Very interesting concept. I was a bit confused at first on how to move the player since the end of the chain was pretty hard to see, but once I managed to figured it out I had a blast jumping around. When I then encountered my first enemies, I started panicking so definitely immersive! Has potential as a celeste kind of game with its unique movement as its "trademark" in a sense. A lot of room for added enemies, levels, and even mechanics.
