The graphics are good and felt polished. Not sure if anything really happened after I casted my spells on the inhabitants? They were within the blue circle radius.
Good take on the theme as well, well done!
Nice game, It was a bit confusing at first but I figured out how to make some stuff work. Cool idea and great art!
This game has great potential, you should pursue a full game for this.
What did I love? - This makes me think of the old classic game: Populous. Casting spells in a radius around your native tribe members is a great mechanic. - The spell casting mixing bowl was a nice touch to impact multiple tribesman at once. - The games theme and overall design were well made.
What would I like to see done differently? - I spent the first half of the game not casting any spells because there was no instructions on how to do it. I pressed all buttons until eventually SPACE BAR made the difference. You must tell players to press space bar either in the instruction or in the game itself in the center-bottom of the screen: "Your spell is ready to cast. Press [SPACE BAR] to use!" - When the spells are cast, the tribesman should do something visually interesting. Right now, it's hard to tell if I've made any difference after the spell has been cast. The player needs visual JUICE to keep them going. - Finally, I had some tribesman just popping in and out of existence and I found that confusing. I wasn't sure if they were dying or just glitching.
Overall, this is a really great game concept and I'd love to see it fleshed out to completion!
Everything fell nice and smooth in the game. The things I love about this is the ability to combine multiple spell. The AOE effect is also pretty neat. The map and the music really did add up to the game mood. The lover is a powerful strategic spell I would say, the more people you have the less susceptible you are to a disaster.
I guess the game is going too easy after the point your tribe is too crowded. they even build house in the middle of the road and I can't get the other area since they block the road. Another thing is the shaman should look different from everyone else. Since he looks to similar to the mob I couldn't recognize him for the first 1 minute
Overall, great game (actually the best I have seen so far) and there is space to grow.
Hello
i like the idea and i see a lot of work behind this funny take on resource management game.
It took me some time to find out that I can move with the shaman and that the spells are casted by space bar (well i had to read the instructions under the video). But after that I started playing.
Graphics is nice, the music is really shaman like :D, not sure I felt impact of something being inevitable during my play, but i bet that for a long run it is here.
So it is a neat resource management package with potential for the future.
Points to work on futher:
- Spells: - Spells has cool graphic but too often I found myself without a spell to cast. An information about new spell available would be nice. Description of in game impact of the spell would also help a bit, but it is just a detail because on the other hand I like to trying to find out the mechanics by myself.
- Crowding: - Soon enough it was hard to move around
You have something nice to build further on here! But i felt a bit lost as to what i was supposed to do. Resource buildings popped up randomly and my spells felt like they didn't do anything. I am always a fan of resource management type games, but i feel this game needed som more guidance or clear goals.
Anyway, good job! Keep it up! <3
It took me a while to understand what to do, the instructions says to press "Space" to cast a spell, but I doesn't work unless you select a spell first (wich I didn't at the beginning). I think right now it needs better UX, (took me some time to see the panels when clicking on stuff, maybe add it to the description?) but the game has a lot of potential once you understand the mechanics, and it looks like it has a lot of depth.
Graphics are nice, it reminds me of old flash games and it really touched a nostalgic side of me :). Seeing the tribe slowly evolve and growing is really satisfying too! Well done!
@tombuston Thank you for feedback! Wrote about the mouse and preparation in the description)
Graphics are really good!
The game obviously had a lot of work put into it. Cant' wait to see what you all make next. I'm not sure that my spells were actually doing anything. But it was fun to see their abilities and try them out on different tribe members
j'adore les graphique et le son gg
very cool look and systems, super impressive for a jam title!
Interesting idea. As others have said i think there should be some feedback after you use a spell and overall a little more guidance to understand what to do. Cool entry with lots of potential
I really like the visuals of the game, but outside the spell that freezed sthe doom timer I had a hard time grasping what my naked dudes are doing :'D Looks like it has a lot of potential!
Very cool concept, I liked absolutely everything) It can be seen that a lot of work has been done. Very impressive!
I liked the sound design and the graphics but I could not figure out what to do at all.
Very nice game idea! I especially loved the graphics and the atmosphere! The disasters were also very pretty to look at
There are two things that I would suggest for a post LD version and they're somewhat related:
- The UI (and the game in general) does not give you any feedback on what you need to do and what you can even do to interact. The only feedback it does offer is the production formula on the huts, but it's not very intuitive. I don't even know if people have to be within my radius to affect them with a spell? I can seemingly combine any number of cards when I cast a spell but: *should I*, except where the card has a x2 effect on other cards?
- There should be animations that show what's going on. People gathering resources or working on something? Show a status icon with that resource above their head. Animate the effects of my spellcasting! Also, there should maybe be portents of disaster *other* than the doomsday progress bar. It would also be nice if people randomly panicked and screamed at the shaman to "do something"
I think this has great potential, it just needs a little bit of UI / animation love.
@udo thanks a lot, for your warm words and useful advice! It was partly at our plan) But it hardly possible to get accurate task estimation, especially when it's allowed to scree up all necessary stuff and continue building nice forest instead of ui)
@makerart I know exactly how it is
I was very confused playing this game. I went around trying to cast the spells on the tribesmen, not realising I was supposed to affect the huts. I couldn't figure out what gave me additional spells, and i didn't have a goal or sense of direction. I really liked the art (not so much the tribesmen, but the scenery), and I have to admit the title is very fitting, as I spent my time wandering around doing mostly nothing. Shaman do something!! Nice.
I can't really understand what the spells really do :(
I like the graphics of the environment and the general mood/setting. The explanation on the spell cards and the tooltips over the huts were quite helpful but I also tried to cast the spells on the villagers instead of the huts
One thing (maybe a bug): I selected a spell but instead of casting the spell I opened the spellmenu again and chose a different spell. The first spell was lost after without ever being cast.
The audio fits the theme and the overall mood very well. Overall nice entry! Good job :)
Ah nice! My first Ludum Dare was also a strategy game, they're very challenging to finish in three days. So props to you for being so ambitious. Overall a fun game, good job!
i love this game! great concept
I think I delayed the inevitable indefinitely XD
shamanDoSomething.png
Great game, loved the RTS feel of it! Took me a few playthroughs to get a hang of what resources I should focus on and after I was able to delay the inevitable cataclysm a bit, my resources were FLOWING! So much so that the cataclysm's would hardly put a dent in them anymore. Had a lot of fun, thanks for the great game!
