Really liked the idea. The infusion needs some more explanation i think.

iluvatar 2018-04-24 11:47

Interesting idea and nice gameplay. First I wasn't sure what to do, but later on it wasn't that hard. And the music, man it was incredibly fitting and relaxing. I like how you managed to make the graphics so smooth and pretty. Good entry indeed.

lemonbalmgames 2018-04-24 11:51

Elemento looks really impressive. It's hard not to appreciate how much work you've put into this thing. I wouldn't have been able to code 20% of the logic you managed to cram into this thing in such a short span of time. Theme works, the game is innovative and if I really had to point out one thing that isn't all that great it's probably the UI.

Oh, and mod support for a jam game? The game is truly impressive from a technical stand-point given the jam context. Great job!

togis 2018-04-24 11:53

Thanks @lemonbalmgames, yes the UI needs work indeed. That was the next item on my todo list if I had the time :(

I may make an improve version in a few week after receiving all the feedback though!

very cool

could you check out my game togis https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/the-dark-of-winter

Took me a bit of time to understand that I have to long click on the tower spot. But then I cleared both the tutorial and the level! I had fun trying to find the best combo! Well done

besmundu 2018-04-24 12:35

Nicely done! I liked the "board game"-esque style of the levels, and the combining mechanic was cool. However, I didn't really know which combinations where stronger, or what they did differently. I ended up mostly having to put up towers using earth.

moffkalast 2018-04-24 12:44

A pretty cool concept to be sure, albeit the UI and graphics/vfx could be better. No bugs that I've seen (aside from minor gui issues) and having a tutorial and a settings menu is pretty awesome. The death tower is totally OP though :)

togis 2018-04-24 12:50

@PoundTheGroundStudios sure I'll add it to my list (but now I have to go shop :p)

@besmundu Hooo sorry, you can watch the gameplay video (7min) for plenty spoiler on how to combine elements and secret receipes if you wish

valboise 2018-04-24 20:49

An interesting idea and pretty cute graphics :) I really enjoyed all the different sfx, they seems very rewarding for me :)

q-ro 2018-04-24 21:49

I like the graphic style although the interface and the controllers are a bit not self explanatory, other than that solid game :).

northernhawk 2018-04-25 16:39

Really good game and really fun. It has so many possibilities so it would be nice to implement something like a tech tree. It needs some balance but that should be easy to fix. The models of the enemies were so cute and that's it/ Good job man! keep it up!

ghodan 2018-04-25 20:27

I love the voxel art! Everything is so detailed and colorful. It's very confusing at first but once you get the hang of it it starts to shine.

macdoom 2018-04-25 22:27

Nice voxels! element combination and tower defense is a great combo. It was a little bit difficult at the beggining to create the towers and get to know which elements could be used at each part of the tower. The video was very helpful. Nice work!

wheffle 2018-04-26 01:52

I love me some tower defense. The element combining was really cool, I liked how it was mostly pretty intuitive. I didn't see a lot of difference between the towers though and didn't know what the pros and cons were of using different elements, but the idea was solid and obviously could be iterated on quite a bit more outside a game jam. Really cool entry, I liked it!

**Edit:**

And **mod support??** Holy crap!

togis 2018-04-26 02:42

Thanks @Wheffle :) I ran out of time to make the difference really visible and meaningful once you manage to leave the "earth and fire" simple towers. But I wish to re-balance this game later after the jam is over!

rombus 2018-04-26 23:27

Really polished game, all the text and crafts are cool, I whish I could ask the janitor again what he told me :P I guess I'll restart.

Congrats on the entry!

raphiell 2018-04-27 00:24

Very interesting idea. It would be nice to know a few recipes off the bat, and one feature that would really streamline the combining process would be clicking on a higher level element, and having the ingredients autofill at the top.

Very fun to play, well done!

togis 2018-04-27 01:02

@Raphiell That's an excellent idea, I will be sure to implement it if I improve this game in the future (things I wish to do and hope to have time to do)

Thanks for your feedback!

rodrigo-denubila 2018-04-27 02:49

Excellent idea, and well done! I hope you continue developing and refining this game. Good job!

Please, take a look at my game too: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/confessional

ekkoekko 2018-04-27 09:46

I love the concept of tower defense X RPG game. The music is simple but its gives a mood to the game cool. Keep it up bro good job!

the-icy-one 2018-04-29 23:50

The core gameplay feels solid, but the UX just seems a little poor at present. It'd be nice to have an easier way to build towers without needing to long press, and maybe being able to combine elements without drag and drop, rather just clicking on them in the inventory. It might also be handy to have onscreen indicators for elements in large piles, I lost on the stage after tutorial twice because I didn't realise there were earth elements piled in the bottom corner.

sheila-ayala-heady 2018-04-29 23:55

This was neat! It was hard to tell the difference between the tower combinations, but I'll have to check out the post-jam version.

2018-05-02 14:13

Neat game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Wurw5JuaZs

cristiano-m-garcia 2018-05-07 00:44

Good job! Cool game!

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.

Great game! I'm not usually into tower defense but the element combination mechanic made it a lot of fun for me, so that genre mashup worked out really well. c:

Overall it felt very polished, only really missing additional content and more levels to play. I don't have a lot of complaints besides some of the mechanics initially being a little confusing, like how when I didn't have the materials to finish up a tower I thought the game had bugged out when I couldn't pick up the element floating on top of the tower nor keep building, so it would've been great to have some kind of UI element to make that clear, but overall the interface was great and the tooltips really helped. A lot of the icons were self-explanatory altho the earth one confused me. :p

The music was really nice so I'm surprised to see that it was generated. HAS SCIENCE GONE TOO FAR??! The style of the music did seem like a funny choice for this kind of game tho but it made it all the cozier, actually. Very soothing. I could pause the game and relax while mixing my elements and planning out my next step while sipping on a cup of coffee and lounging to the mellow tunes~

Really nicely done! Would definitely have kept playing if there were more levels!
